With over fifteen years of experience, I am passionate about teaching piano in a way that leaves each student truly inspired at the end of each lesson. The piano is the most logically laid out instrument for new learners. It's also my favorite one to play! You will learn scales, arpeggios, ear training, notation, music reading and the repertoire you love, all while maintaing a sense of improvisation and flexibility. I work with children of any age...including adults. :)
About Lucciana
My name is Lucciana (Loo-Chee-Ah-Nah...I was named after opera legend Luciano Pavarotti!)
I began formally studying music at age six. I spent my childhood and teen years participating in choir, orchestra, private instrument lessons (piano, voice, violin, Dobro), musical theater and local bands with musicians much older than I was!
I became a music teacher for the first time at a small music store in 2009. I absolutely fell in love with sharing the skills and techniques that had helped me become a lifelong musician.
I have extensive experience working with a variety of age groups and special interest students. My areas of expertise include: young children (0-5), students with special needs and/or behavioral issues, adult beginners, live performance coaching for future professionals, songwriting coaching/feedback, ear tr
Most importantly, I am passionate about teaching music in a way that leaves each student connected to the joy of creative play. No matter what age, skill level, or instrument, I fully believe that music meets you where you are and enriches your life in exceptional ways. I will work with you on what you wish to learn, incorporating skill, music theory, dexterity, technique, improv and repertoire into your curriculum in a way that leaves both of us inspired at the end of each lesson.

love teaching and keeping students interested. It's important to find titles that students can get behind and taking time to find pieces that are appropriate and interest students is my first priority.
I like to make sure that exercises are not looked at as a punishment. Breaking down how to apply a technique is as important as learning it.
Finally, I like to keep things light. I'm not going to motivate you by scaring you into practicing. There are other teachers that are good at that, but that's not my style. I'd rather work on finding out how to get you to be self motivated and actually enjoy what you're doing.
My specialties include jazz and pop styles.
About Steve
I have been in touring bands, jazz bands, wedding bands, funk bands, and pop bands. Fun Fact: I was even once in a bossa nova Guns n' Roses jazz trio called Guns n' Nova. You could say I've played a lot of different styles.
I teach my clients in my comfortable home teaching studio in Clairemont, San Diego. I work with beginner and intermediate piano students and all levels for saxophone. I'm open to students of any age and music
In my music career I've performed with Steffan Lessard (Dave Matthews Band) and Ed Robertson (Bare Naked Ladies) and played in bands that have opened for Guster, Blues Traveler, and The Wailers.
Some of the musical styles I regularly teach: Pop, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Soul, R&B, and Classical.

I work with students, starting at whatever level they are, to learn music as well as to build a solid foundation of technique and theory so they can begin to understand musical ideas. Learning an instrument should be both fun and educational, so teaching piano for me is as much about sharing the joy of music as it is about teaching skills.
About Richard
I recently graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts where I studied theater. I've been lucky enough to combine my love of theater and music by working as a music director and composer on a number of productions.

Piano Tips and Techniques: Playing Glissandos
There are many musical terms that you will hear when learning to play any instrument, and the piano is no exception. You probably started off with terms related to tempo, such as largo and allegro, and progressed accordingly. You will learn new terms at every level, so maybe you have already heard the word glissando. Even if you havent heard of the term, you probably have heard a glissando in music. For example, Jerry Lee Lewiss song "Great Balls of Fire" uses glissandos. Derived from t … Read More
