Tabla:
A South Asian percussion instrument similar to bongos, consisting of a pair of drums, used in traditional, classical, popular and folk music. The tabla consists of two single headed, barrel shaped small drums of slightly different size and shapes. Learning starts with basics or hand technique, rhythms, and playing along with songs.

Karen fixed my problem in five minutes after I had two years of getting no where. I play clarinet and was curling my fingers like on a clarinet. On a bagpipe, you must lay the fingers flat. Suddenly all the pressure problems with the reed went away.

I've had about 12 lessons with Karen so far. Out of the few guitar teachers I've gone to in my life, Karen is definitely my favorite. She is super encouraging, patient, and careful about details. We started off by going through a beginner's book that covered sight reading and guitar basics, just what I needed. She was very flexible and willing to incorporate singing into the lessons, which helps a lot. Also, she's generally a good person and it's easy to feel comfortable around her -- in the past I have sometimes been so nervous around previous instructors that I could hardly play a note. Not so this time -- I am very happy with the lessons because I feel like I am making progress. Learning to play guitar is a dream of mine and with Karen I feel like I'll get there!

I have played tabla since 2010 and absolutely love these drums. As anyone with tabla experience can tell you, four years is not enough time to master this incredibly intricate instrument, but I am more than qualified to teach the basics of tabla technique and basic compositions.

Sam has been teaching our son Sam for a year now. He is an enthusiastic, focused and motivating instructor. What our son loves about Sam is that he is teaching him to play drums through the music that our son loves and relates to. This makes it that much more "fun" to learn.

Sam is always on time, very communicative, professional, passionate about drums and great with kids! We highly recommend Sam as an instructor.

Sam is wonderful drum instructor. He is very friendly and my teen son feels very comfortable around him. They worked for several months on drums and Sam even took time to listen to my son's DJ music production. Sam gave him his opinion and suggestions for improvements. We are very happy with how fast my son began to play drums only after the start of a few lessons. We highly recommend him!!!

There are many ways to cultivate your musical skill whether it's visual, kinesthetic, or auditory. Let's find out which way works best for you!

Most schools do not offer the flexibility in learning styles necessary for you to find your ideal way of processing new information, whether it be visual, auditorial, kinesthetic, memetic, right brain/left brain, etc.

That's why I'm here! I pride myself on working with each individual student on the subtle ways that they learn and form healthy habits. If you have any questions about my teaching styles or methods please ask!

A little more about me:

I have over 10 years of guitar experience, studying under Jazz heavyweights Corey Christiansen, Oteil Burbridge, and Dan Miller. I pride myself in putting my students needs and wants above all else. I wish to impart a love for music onto my students that can only be cultivated by the bond a teacher and their student share, let us learn and grow together!
