Experienced piano teacher for 20+ years, available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation in their playing skills. I specialize in teaching as early as 3 yrs old, I typically use different methods of teaching, no specific curriculum, it depends on students' personality, cognitive development, age level. I use online piano games & teaching tools to help students develop the habit of practicing with more fun. I do recitals at least twice a year, & that includes Community Recitals, Students participates to different programs & festivals sponsored by CAPMT District 1, National Federation of Music Clubs & Music Development Program by Royal Conservatory of Music to assess their knowledge, skills & abilities.

A natural teacher at heart, I teach Piano, Visual Arts, and Yoga. I earned my Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Teaching and my California Teaching Credential in the Visual Arts and have been teaching professionally since 2012. I began playing the piano at age seven and advanced to honors recitals of Certificate of Merit through the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC). I have experience teaching ages 4-65 and beginning through early-intermediate levels. Beginners are my specialty and I currently teach 12 piano students a week. I use a variety of materials like flashcards and book series to teach classical, jazz, pop, and sacred styles: Alfred’s Basic Piano Library, Bastien Basics, Bastien & Bastien, Faber’s Piano Adventures, FunTime Faber & Faber, Piano for the Older Beginner, Alfred Masterworks, and Hal Leonard Songs from Disney. Students have the options of borrowing my used books or purchasing new books. My new students love the patience and personalization that I bring to each lesson. I combine theory, technique, practice, rhythm (counting), vocabulary, and performance pieces. Demonstrating each piece, we often have fun singing along and adding games or flashcards to aid in understanding. Students are expected to practice a minimum of an hour a week at home and schedule reoccurring lessons on this site. They have the chance to earn a stamp on their Piano Passport for completing each piece at 80 percent or better. Further, student receive awards for practice each week. These awards include a variety of stickers and breaks for Piano Tiles on my iPad. I teach inside my home studio.

My History of Piano: I have been teaching piano for 15 years. My 30 years of training is mostly through private lessons and passed down generational methods taught through my mentor, Joann Maybe. My Teaching Method: I assess each students' levels, knowledge and styles of learning, determine the best learning paths to incorporate into the lesson and bring a "natural movement" approach of training and education. With my method, this is to provide a collaborative & supportive environment as well as actively develop a person's life, culture and well-being. I strive to take a step further and deeper within the mind of the person who is learning dance and find one's "True Inner Dancer." My Teaching Credits: Private Piano Lessons My Training Credits: Private Piano Lessons - Joann Maybe My Trained Methods: Alfred Bastien Faber Carr-Glover Glover Thompson Schaum Suzuki PLEASE NOTE: For a more accurate look into my experience and resume, please refer to my profile. Any advanced, duet, group, weddings, birthdays, or any special occasion will differ than the usual lesson rate.

I have experience with all ages from 4 to 65. Each person is different, but age has nothing to do with someone's desire to learn the piano.

I've been teaching piano for 8 years and my students have gone on to enjoy performing and playing the piano in multiple facets. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play some of your favorite songs and as time goes on you'll be able to perform for your family and friends. I specialize in classical, pop & rock, typically use Bastien books. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!
