Heather has been teaching piano since 2012 and is currently available to teach in-home and online lessons. Heather’s main focus is classical piano, but she has also helped students learn how to compose and play by ear. Her students have won college scholarships and participated in the National Auditions hosted by the American College of Musicians, National Guild of Piano Teachers (NGPT). Heather teaches beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. She loves learning about the individualities of each of her students and tailoring lessons to them.

Teaching piano lessons allows me to combine a life-long love of music and teaching into one amazing job. My goal is to provide a safe and fun environment for adults and children alike to grow in their love for and ability to play piano. My lessons focus on a combination of classical training and individual interests. The classical training works on technique, sight-reading, memorization, ear training, and theory. Growth in musical abilities does require consistent practice. I help my students set clear, doable goals to make practice easier. These goals will often include performing in a recital, audition, or other competition. Performing helps push the student to the next level, allows them to share their love of music with others, and teaches them confidence in front of people. During online lessons, you will be able to see me talking to you via a camera, demonstrating music via a keyboard view, and annotating sheet music in real time via my Ipad.

My kid loves working with Heather. When she gets to our house, she is full of energy and ready to start. She’s able to keep my kid on track and easily redirects my kid back to the piano when my kid starts talking about something else. She always makes my kid feel really proud and accomplished. Heather is so exciting that my 2 year old insists on getting a “lesson” from Heather before she leaves.

Heather is an excellent piano instructor! Our daughter's piano playing has improved tremendously since she started taking lessons with her. Heather is so sweet and patient with our daughter. She knows how to break down the lessons so our daughter can easily understand them. She tailors the lessons to her skill level while making it fun by allowing her to play some songs she would like to learn. I cannot recommend Heather enough, she is amazing!

This membership allows me to offer National Auditions to my students. In National Auditions, students prepare ten pieces by memory and play them in front of a highly qualified judge. They receive grading and comments. If they score highly enough they graduate to the next level. National Auditions are a great way to prepare for a music major or minor in college. They also provide goals and accountability to keep students advancing.
