Piano is a great instrument to start out with. It can help you learn so many things. We'll break down music fundamentals and learn good technique from the beginning so you can set yourself up to excel in the future.

About Erik
I want to teach you how to express yourself through music. I've been inspired by music since I was young and have been involved in one way or another since I started piano lessons at age 3. I've been playing guitar for over fifteen years and written and recorded music for about eight. Whether you want to go into music seriously as I have, or just use music as a hobby and way to express yourself, I want to help you accomplish your goal.

*** Lesson Details ***
Each person is different and learns in a slightly different way. Having said that, there are certain essentials which must not be ignored. If you've never taken lessons before, we'll start with the fundamentals, how to hold the guitar properly, make chords, build up finger strength, properly tune the guitar, know all the strings, and most importantly play songs. You will lea
rn how to read basic music, but I can teach you how to play by ear too. Before we have completed our series you or your children will have basic knowledge of all these things and a desire to explore at least some of these aspects further.

For me, the most interesting music reveals the unique perspective and feelings of the person who makes it. Having conquered the essentials I will encourage you to be creative with your developing talents. I can teach you about song structure and I can teach you how to jam with your friends. If you are interested in writing and composing, I can help you with that too. We can take a look at your favorite artists and try to discover how they accomplished and perfected their sound. If you want to learn how to record I have a computer equipped with Pro Tools and would be glad to show you how to use it.

You'll spend time listening to me of course, but I hope to spend much of my time listening to you as well. If reading music doesn't inspire you we can focus more on learning by ear. It's up to you. You'll need your own instrument obviously, though you can leave it at home if you don't want to carry it back and forth. I have guitars here. I request that you purchase a book with text and exercises so that you can practice and study what you learn in the class. Even if you do not want to read music, you will need to know the neck and conquer scale formations and chords. We can choose the text based on your needs.

Ms. Lorna is an excellent teacher. My daughter, Michelle, has learned a lot in a short period of time. As a mother, I did not know the importance of using voice techniques such proper breathing, techniques used to avoid injury to your vocal area, etc. There is so much more we both have learned. Essentially, this has improved her singing ability. I believe she has the potential to succeed at singing with Ms. Lorna as her teacher. She has really improved. Additionally, Ms. Lorna encourages her. Michelle loves taking the singing classes and looks forward to attending each. Thank you!

Mrs. Lorna is a great coach. She is patient and really wants you to learn. I have no singing experience so I'm starting from 0 and she's really encouraging. I truly recommend anyone who wants to improve to choose her as her coach, I already see improvements in my singing voice when I wasn't even sure it was possible.

I have been teaching for 5 years. Students of all ages are welcome! I teach piano, violin, and viola. My music lessons are molded by each student's experience, desires, and capabilities. Not only do my students learn the basics and foundation of music, they also get to learn the songs or music that they love! I believe that a balanced education that includes the classical but also the modern and pop music and teachings of today is the best way for students to progress and also enjoy what they learn! My goal is for my students to be able to learn the music they would like on their own. To make music their own!

About Sarah
I am a graduate of Florida International University. I have my Bachelor's degree in music performance. I grew up playing music. I started private lessons on the piano at age 6 and began with the viola and violin at age 11. As I progressed, I fell in love with music and soon realized that I loved sharing music with others, whether it was playing for them or showing others how to play. I have been a part of many musical groups and ensembles and have performed in many different piano and violin competitions.

I love to teach others of all ages, and show them the joy of learning to make music! Nothing feels better than accomplishing learning a song you really enjoy! Music has benefited me greatly, I know I would not be such a dedicated and motivated college student if it wasn't for my music lessons. Music really does discipline a person, an
d develops skills that othesr who do not play instruments do not have. Also it benefits children and teens in their academic school life, because it makes learning easier and develops the brain in regions that aren't likewise exercised.

I know that I wouldn't be who I am without music, and it surely puts smiles on others faces to play for them and teach them! I hope you too learn the joys of making music and see how it can add happiness and joy to your life as it has in mine!
