I have been teaching young children for many years and will take beginning piano students as young as 5 years old. While I was a public school music teacher, I used Orff-Shulwerk strategies for teaching music. This approach to music teaching and learning is appropriate for preschool through middle school grades. These strategies are based on the way children learn: sing, chant, clap, dance and keep a beat on anything near at hand. I'm also a certified Joy Tunes iPad piano teacher and with that my students get access to Piano Maestro app for iPad.

About Jill

I have been a professional musician for over 40 years and have taught beginning piano and oboe privately and in group classes. I will make your lessons fun and exciting and teach to your abilities. I also use music apps and games that keep students interested for longer than just sitting at the pi

Jill is such a patient teacher. She made my twelve year old son feel at ease trying piano for the first time. She genuinely cares about her students.

Mrs. M. has done an excellent job in helping my children excel in their music skills. I love her focus on the technicalities - rather then just being able to play a song.
Ashley
So happy to have found Jill. My daughter is learning to play the Oboe from the best.

Mr. Young was an incredible man to learn from. After taking 3 lessons from him I could tell that he has a rich history in music and teaching and has a legitimate love for music. I had to discontinue my lessons due to a move out of state but i would recommend him to anyone.

When I came to Bill I had hopes and dreams of having the ability to read and play any kind of piano music. As a child I struggled with reading music during 3 years of lessons with a strict classical teacher, but held on to the dream. I have waited over 50 years to live the dream I am fulfilling now. Bill had me reading and playing any piano arrangement I wanted in 3 months. I play classical, gospel, movie themes and more and loving it all. His unique teaching method inspires you with an "I can do this" attitude. He analyzes who you are, your own style and abilities and raises the bar with every lesson. As I play, he shows me how to enhance my performance with every note. He couples insight with knowledge and his 30+ years of experience to create a true pianist. He tells me I am the composer when I play, own the music. He tells me "don't just play the music, become the music". After 2 years of lessons I am living my dream and preparing for concert level opportunities. Whether young or old (I am 73 years old), Bill can inspire and teach you to play. I often wonder where I would be in the music world if he would have been my childhood teacher. I highly recommend Bill to start your child's music foundation on the right track or for yourself - to live your dream too. Thank you Bill for all you do and who you are!

Kept missing class without any heads up so I had to just wait around and hope he'll show up, ignored my calls and messages to reschedule, so I had to just get a refund from TakeLessons. As a teacher he is good, but very unprofessional behavior in terms of accountability and respect for students' time.

How Often Should You Tune a Piano?

Wondering about the average piano tuning cost, or how often you should tune a piano? You've come to the right place! Just as you go to the doctor for check-ups from time to time, your piano needs maintenance and care throughout its life. You may notice, especially if you have a keen ear, that your piano drops in pitch particularly during the summer and winter months. This is because your piano is mostly made of wood, and your wooden soundboard will contract when the weather is drier -- or the …
