About Melissa
My name is Melissa L. and I am currently employed by the West Chester School District as a strings teacher. I have acquired a degree in Music Education with a concentration in violin from the University of Delaware. I have been playing the violin for 21 years and also have been giving private violin lessons for the last 10 years. Although my main concentration is focused on the violin, I also provide private lessons for viola, cello, string bass, and piano.

As an educator, I strive to provide students with the knowledge to become highly skilled and competent musicians. Whether music becomes a hobby or profession, I want my students to appreciate and engage in their learning as aspiring musicians. Music has made such a positive impact on my life, and I hope to inspire my students to love the music that they play. The many years that I
have played the violin along with my 9 years of private teaching has given me knowledge of effective techniques to incorporate in my teaching. I hope to be a positive and encouraging role model while engaging my students to their fullest potential as musicians!

My name is Julie, and Melissa taught me how to play the violin. She was recommended to me by a friend who has piano lessons with her.

She is a great instructor and explains concepts very well. I recommend her to anyone young or old, skilled or unskilled. She is patient yet demanding, in a way that makes you want to work/play harder as she strives to teach what she can to her students.

Whether it's your first time playing the violin or wanting to improve, she herself is an amazing violinist that will help and guide you every step of the way. Regardless of what instrument you wish to play/learn, I have no doubt that she will help you excel with her teaching abilities. 10/10.

As a beginner in learning to play the cello and read music.I have learned a great deal through my weekly lessons with Melissa. Every lesson includes presentation of a new skill and a review of previously taught concepts. Melissa effectively provides me feedback about my performance and methods to correct errors. She maintains a high level of rigor and expectation to every lesson. Melissa presents as a very professional instructor with a strong work ethic and dedication to her field.

About Alisa
I began violin playing jazz/folk music with my dad and performing at different venues with him. I was always attracted to the variety of scales and sounds eastern music had to offer. I love the sound of a gypsy violin, how it can create such a strong sorrowful sound or how it can dance and sing.

I found the gypsy inspired pieces composed by classical composers like Monti's Csaras. This was my connection into classical music. I found a teacher who played classical and Arabic violin and began studying intensely for technique. As I got deeper into the study of classical I realized how much I love classical music.

I now have been playing classically for 6 years and have been playing the violin 12 years I have studied with Hannah Khoury, Daniel Han of the Philadelphia Orchestra and am currently with Vladimir Dyo who is a full time facu
lty member at Temple University.

I began attending Temple Universities Boyer College of Music in 2011. I have performed in Kimmel Center and Alice Tully Hall with our orchestra since than. I continue to play various performances with my background in improvisation but right now I focus full-time on being a student.

*** Lesson Details ***
I love to teach. I have taught students from ages 8-42 and am open to teach anyone above 7 and above. We will start with the Suzuki method to get the basics of violin and will progress to play pieces of music varying to your tastes and level. If you want to play Irish fiddle, we can have you playing jigs and reels in just a few months. If your interested in jazz we can have you playing standards or if you want to a play classical we can work towards you being able to sight read and perform pieces within 6 months.

Of course if you already play we can pick up where you left off. I strongly believe no matter what interest you have in violin, it is important to study classically to get the proper technique. All styles I teach will be supplemented with classical etudes and exercises.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect them to own a violin and be willing to purchase necessary equipment. (music, metronome, tuner, shoulder rest, etc... varies on student)

I had been teaching myself piano for many years when I reached a point where I was not improving and realized I needed a teacher. Sharon helped me work on my weaknesses as a musician and had a good eye for pieces that helped me build on my strengths. We always had fun working together, and she was always good about working around my busy schedule.

From the moment I had my phone interview with Paul, I knew he was the right instructor for my son. We met for a trial lesson and sure enough he was exactly what we were looking for. My 12 yr. old has just excelerated in his music reading skills that I could not teach him on my own having started him on the keyboard myself since he was seven but was not successful. Paul is not afraid to stretch him and communicate to him in a way that he pleasantly receives along with weaving music history teaching continuously throughout the lesson. Right out of the gate his technique was addressed and the foundation was set up front and my son has an obvious, beautiful, step above, touch. Very grateful!

You will learn the fundamentals of piano technique when you take beginner lessons with me. Through familiar songs and pieces of various styles, students will build a strong foundation to become high-level musicians.

About Maria
At a young age, I found my passion through playing and listening to jazz and classical music and experiencing the interpersonal connections music creates. From performing to teaching, I love to share my passion for music with those around me.

Since graduating from Temple University with a B.M. in Music Education and Jazz Studies, I have played with musical groups in Europe and recently became a K-8 general music teacher in Philadelphia. Playing and teaching around the world and at home has given me great insight into how students need to be taught: with relevancy to their own lives while maintaining artistry and integrity.

My teaching experience ranges from private lessons and jazz workshops to summer music camps and K-12 music classes. I love teaching and will probably never stop!

She is a great teacher and I would def have kept taking lessons from her if not she moved out of town. I am really hoping that she will return and do lessons with me again.

Mrs G's Piano students all earn points for there practice time, lessons, duets, recitals, memorization and use those points to compete against themselves and earn prizes. My daughter has been taking lessons for 9 months and just did a 4 page duet with Mrs. 'G " at a recital. She is very energetic; she encourages and gives awards which the young kids respond to; sometimes her cat comes to listen. No pressure and the kids can pick some of the advance books of songs they like. We go in person but she is now open to Face Time lessons. She is also very flexible for sick days; snow days, and the typical crazy kid activity schedule. If you like personal, friendly postitive energy...Mrs. "G" is your teacher!

We are all amazed at her proficiency at this early stage of learning. Her confidence in performing before an audience is all due to the way Mrs. "G" teaches. She makes the lessons fun and rewarding. Learning piano can be a deeply gratifying experience, no matter your age! My students receive a well-rounded and enriching musical cultivation. Beginners will learn from a method book that is well suited for their own learning style. More advanced students can expect to traverse the rich piano repertory, but I also maintain an element of technical study in my lessons. Students will learn the fundamentals of music theory and how they can be applied to piano study. Those interested in learning other styles such as jazz, pop, and rock can explore those areas as well.

About Daniel
I am a graduate of Temple University's Boyer College of Music and Dance as well as the Royal Academy of Music in London where I attained my BM in Piano Performance and Pedagogy and my MMus in Piano Performance, respectively. I am an active performer as well as a keen and engaging teacher, so I'm always thinking of new ways to get students thinking about being performing artists, whether they're well into their studies or just starting out. I'm interested in the student's perspective - what kind(s) of music do you enjoy? How can we work out an approach that will be as productive as possible for you? I'm a firm believer that every student is unique and has something special of their own to offer. The piano is a wonderful vehicle for expression, and my job is to help you find your voice.

Learning how to play piano can be intimidating, but it can open all sorts of musical doors, like being able to write your own songs, play your favorite tunes, and jam with your friends! I have more than 5 years of experience teaching both children and adults, and I emphasize tailoring lessons to the individual pianist's interests and skills. I incorporate music theory to build a solid musical foundation. If you are interested in learning pop, jazz, or classical piano from a patient, fun and flexible teacher, let's get in contact!

About Elliott
I'm a professional pianist and composer. I recently graduated from Swarthmore College with a BA in Music. Beyond that, my musical education has included the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, as well as participation in festivals in the US, China, Austria, and Germany.

I teach in a laid-back and goal-oriented fashion; by making small steps every lesson towards a larger goal, students see big-picture improvements and gain confidence in their musical abilities. I customize every student's lesson plan to their interests. Whether you vibe with Chopin, Monk, or Star Wars, we will work together to produce exciting and effective progress.

I teach piano students of all ages and abilities. I have experience teaching to those on the autism spectrum, as well as other learning and development differences and disabilities.
