Private Piano Teacher

I have been teaching private piano lessons for five years, and I love working with children of all ages and skill levels. I have been playing the piano for 17 years, and began at a very young age. Because of this, I strongly believe that if there is a desire to learn, the age you start does not matter. I work well with both beginner level students and intermediate level students. I was taught using the Suzuki method, and I use parts of that method in my own teaching. I also incorporate basic music theory lessons into my teaching.

About Abigail

I'm currently a student at Eastman School of Music, majoring in Piano Performance. I began taking piano lessons when I was two years old and loved every minute of it. I enjoy working with children of all ages, and strongly believe that if there is a desire to learn, the age at which you begin does

Joseph put us at ease immediately. Our first lesson included valuable information on how to warm up our voices, increase our range and protect our voices. We look forward to our next lesson.

I have been studying piano with Joseph for nearly five years. In that time, I’ve learned more about the piano and musical interpretation than I ever thought possible.

Joseph’s technical ‘short cuts’ are amazing! He illustrates ways for your hands and your mind to work that are tailor made for you. Learning from him is so fun it seems almost effortless.

The way Joseph teaches allows you to develop at your own pace. The atmosphere is always relaxed yet everything moves along quickly.

At the open classes I attend, his other students are progressing very rapidly too. After each class, we share our impressions. The mood is elated because it feels like we stepped back in time and into history.

Joseph often quotes inspired wisdom of his historic teachers in our lessons. He is a great inspiration on his own with great musical insights.

I’m playing Beethoven and Chopin works I never thought I could approach at this stage of study, with great depth of understanding. I now play with greater passion and skill, get compliments from everyone I play for, and no longer worry about playing in public.

I look forward to each and every lesson with Joseph. His encouragement and support makes learning so rewarding! Anyone who finds this musical treasure is a lucky person and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Joseph shared his composition at the bedside of a dying man. Everyone listened and stopped crying for a moment. We were transported from the terrible tragedy into his world of beautiful music. His compassion and sensitivity of spirit touched us. When he teaches this gift to others, the world becomes a better place.

I don't just teach students to read the notes and rhythms. Understanding theory, using technique, and creating from the inside out (internalize the meaning to produce sound) is necessary to really make music.

About Amy

I am passionate about music, playing the piano, and teaching. I currently study with a doctor of music in California, and I just completed a master's degree in church music. My goal is to give students all the tools they need to learn and understand music in a way that excites them to progress

Amy is an amazing teacher! I've studied piano under her both in person and online, and either way, she is excellent. She is always positive about what I can do, yet can point out ways to improve more. She listens to what I want to accomplish and finds various ways to incorporate what I want with what I need. She inspires me to want to do more than I thought I could do, and to always think bigger than the picture. My online piano lessons have become a highlight of my week, and something that I truly look forward to because I know that Amy will be excited to hear what I have worked on, and her enthusiasm further propels my motivation to excel.

"Niki is an outstanding piano teacher. She began teaching my daughter when she was 9 years old, and after 3 years of lessons, I am extremely pleased with how well my daughter plays the piano. Niki makes learning piano fun and interesting for children by allowing them to choose some of their own popular pieces. Her teaching style is the perfect balance of friendly and encouraging, yet very professional with an emphasis on progress. She sets high expectations and inspires her students through her own love of music. I would highly recommend Niki to any student fortunate enough to work with her."

"We love Julie! I have a degree in music and used to teach guitar so I know what to expect from a good teacher. Julie is wonderful! She is organized, professional, knowledgeable and (most importantly) a good communicator with our children. Our son was never into piano lessons with previous teachers. After switching to Julie, he actually like piano lessons. Our daughter is very driven and loves piano which she has been studying for years now. Julie also excels in pushing her at a much higher level. It's nice to have a teacher who can push the advanced student as well as inspire the early student. She has even started voice lessons with our son who loves every minute of his lesson. We can't praise Julie enough. Quit looking for other teachers and hire Julie!"
