In my piano lessons I use the Faber's fabulous Piano Adventures series. In my opinion, they are the best books on the market, emphasizing reading by intervals as opposed to memorizing note names. This method minimizes student frustration while also decreasing the amount of time it takes a student to read a new song. Piano Adventures also focuses on developing sight reading and ear training skills, something most developing musicians don't study until college-level music courses. All of my piano students have the opportunity to play "fun songs," that is, songs which may not be in their regular lesson books, but which the student truly has the desire to learn. These extra songs are always optional for the student, and the choice of song is always up to the student. Fun songs can be of any genre: Classical (Fur Elise, Clair de Lune, Moonlight Sonata), Jazz (Linus and Lucy, The Pink Panther, The Entertainer), Popular (Clocks, Don't Stop Believing, Great Balls of Fire), or any song that suits the student's interest (songs from video games, favorite TV shows or movies, folk tunes, etc). The fun song will typically be more challenging than the rest of the student's pieces, and helps to retain student interest and, when learned, is something the student can really be proud of accomplishing.

Hi! My name is Angela, and I teach private piano, voice, and theory lessons. I love teaching, and have taught many ages (3 to 93) and ability levels (novice to advanced). I am a dependable, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic teacher. I offer lessons for 30, 45, or 60-minute weekly sessions in my home studio. I do not offer bi-weekly lessons or lessons in the student's home.
My home is a split-level, with my private living area above and my music studio below. There is a waiting area just outside the music studio, as well as a half-bath specifically designated for students and parents. The studio itself contains a piano and organ, my personal music library, and additional seating for parents. There is a full-length mirror for vocal students to watch their performance skills grow, and a gumball machine for when younger students have an exceptionally good lesson.
Making music is a skill which can bring lifelong joy to the musician as well as everyone around them. While I can easily ensure that my students enjoy music-making while they are taking lessons, my ultimate goal is that students continue to want to make music throughout their entire life, even after they stop taking lessons. I firmly believe that my job as a teacher is to train my students to be independent and self-sufficient musicians. Many teachers teach by rote, playing a passage to a student and then having the student play it back. Though this method is helpful in some situations, students who are taught in this manner often find that they are only able to play the songs taught to them in lessons, and that to learn a new song they must have a teacher by their side showing them how the song goes. In my lessons, however, students are taught to learn their own music through sight-reading, ear-training, music theory, and listening to and critiquing their own playing. Over time, this allows the student more and more freedom to make music without a teacher.
Provide private piano and voice lessons to students of all ages and abilities.
Tailor lessons to each individual student's needs and goals.
Communicate clearly and effectively with students and parents about assignments and scheduling concerns.
Plan and prepare students for up to eight recitals per year, as well as outside auditions, performances, competitions, and talent shows.
Plan and lead sectional rehearsals both in and outside of regular chorus rehearsals.
Lead warm-ups for the entire chorus at least once per month.
Provide individual attention and feedback to each member of my section.
Create learning tracks and tools for my section as needed.
Create and implement lesson plans for music students grades K-5.
Provide individual feedback and instruction on music reading, music history, and performance techniques.
Teach students proper playing methods for guitar, keyboard, xylophone, recorder, and drums, while still allowing for individual expressiveness and musicality.
Plan and produce several performances, talent shows, and recitals, including writing and directing two new musicals.
Plan and implement lessons to teach sight singing and rhythm reading, as well as intervallic, melodic, and harmonic dictation to undergraduate students.
Evaluate students weekly, maintain accurate record of class attendance and student achievement, and provide final grade for semester.
Maintain clear communication with students about their assignments and current grade in the class, and meet with students outside of class.
Collaborate with my fellow aural training instructors and our supervisor to develop curriculum, plan lessons, schedule evaluations, and improve our teaching skills.
Observe all class meetings, proctor exams, and meet with students outside of class.
Plan lessons and lead class when the professor is absent.
Grade all student work, maintain accurate records of student attendance and grades, and tabulate final grades.
Take on a leadership role in my section, setting an example for my fellow choir members.
Lead sectional rehearsals for sopranos, altos, or both.
Occasionally lead full choir in warm-ups or in a full rehearsal.
Prepare and lead daily warm-us for full ensemble.
Be prepared at all times to lead sectionals for any voice part on any piece.
Plan and lead full rehearsals in the professor's absence.
Conduct performances in the professor's absence.
Take on all the responsibilities of a full choir professor for a short time.
Choose repertoire, plan rehearsals, take attendance, lead warm-ups, direct rehearsals, and conduct the full choir in performance.
Utilize video recording, journaling, and input from my professors, classmates, and fellow student conductors to improve my teaching and leadership skills.
I am currently certified to teach music to all ages in the state of Missouri.
She is really nice and fun to work with. She has a beautiful voice and really is a great teacher.
i’m 38 with a lifetime of classical piano and pop guitar behind me, and decided to learn to sing. Every lesson with Angela is a delightful adventure through Musicland, packed full of more fascinating tidbits and insights than i ever imagined i could learn, and always paced with an unstoppable professionalism that sets the bar for all future teachers. I have taken piano lessons on and off since I was a little girl. Angela, is the best piano teacher I've had so far and this is including my time taking piano lessons for college classes. I wish I would've found her a long time ago.
she is just amazing. it was much more than i expected. thank you angela
I am adding a review to override my original 4 star review to a 5 star review. My husband and I have been voice and piano students of Angela for well over a year now and she makes learning music interesting, fun, and challenging. It's intimidating to learn these skills (especially singing) as an adult but she is such a good teacher that we continue to look forward to our lessons and really enjoy learning these skills. She is encouraging and an excellent coach.+ Read More
My daughter has been going to Angela for 4 years now. She started at 4 years of age, and is now 8 years old. My daughter started with voice lessons, and has since also picked up piano lessons. Now my younger daughter (5 years old) also began taking piano lessons with Angela. I can't imagine another music teacher for my girls. Angela is wonderful. She is professional and every moment of music lessons is complete quality time. I highly recommend Angela as a music teacher for anyone of any ability level!+ Read More
She was great! My son loved it!
Having piano lessons with Ms. Angela is the most cheerful event for both of my kids, their favorite teacher of all! They also love Ms. Angela's beautiful voice too.
Great first lesson!
She has great knowledge, patience, and positive reinforcer. It was a very nice experience.
My daughter is supper happy with knowing her interest & I am happy to see her practicing all the day as directed by Angela !
During my first lesson with Angela, I had fun, learned a lot, and had some great feedback and homework. Definitely exceeded expectations and looking forward to more lessons! Christen
It was a awsome experience 😊
It was a awsome experience 😊
Angela is super friendly and really knows how to explain proper singing techniques in a way that makes sense. She is also great at listening to her students' needs and concerns and lets the students pick which songs they would like to work on.
Kyan was excited about his first lesson. Looking forward to the next one
Only one lesson in, but we made the right choice. Angela is very professional, very well organized, and had planned perfectly for our beginner piano lesson. She was very engaging, on just the right level, and our beginner related to her style and ease in an instant. Could not have been happier with this decision.+ Read More
We love how Angela is teaching the children!!!
We really liked our first lesson!!
It's obvious from the beginning that Angela knows her subject thoroughly and knows how to teach it. She quickly assessed my level of ability and knew what I needed to work on. My singing and confidence improved greatly over just a few lessons. She had useful suggestions for practicing between lessons. My lesson was always fun and over too quickly -- 30 minutes is not enough. Next time I'll sign up for at least a 45-minute lesson.+ Read More
My granddaughter loves her singing and piano lessons with Angela. It has become the highlight of her week.
I have only been working with Angela for a few weeks, but I love her teaching style. She is patient and very knowledgeable. Having taken lessons from other teachers, I mesh well with her more linear and directed teaching methods. I've made more progress in 5 weeks than in a year with another teacher! She also has a great sense of humor. :)+ Read More
already learned so much!
Angela is easy-going, very engaging, and can really relate the material easily. Highly Recommended!
Angela is wonderful! My daughter has worked with her for over a year and now I just finished my first piano lesson. She explains things so well and really takes her time with my daughter and me.

Angela works really hard to incorporate my daughter's personal goals. She finds opportunities for my daughter to perform. Absolutely recommend!
Angela was very pleasant and knowledgeable. We worked together to set goals and I learned new skills the very first lesson.
Angela is awesome! She is super patient and doesn't get frustrated when I don't understand something. I am pretty shy and timid, and she can work with that. I also really like that she takes an interest in my life outside of piano lessons, but doesn't let it take over the whole lesson (I'm a talker, so I could definitely chat for 30 minutes unless stopped). I am totally loving my lessons with her and can't wait for more!+ Read More
my first lesson with Angela left a very good impression and I look forward to working with her.
Angela is a very patient and encouraging teacher. My kids really like her.
We just started lessons and we are very happy with her.
An excellent teacher; starts with basics, she is patient, yet challenging enough for your talent.
Angela is GREAT!! She gave me lots of helpful exercises to do outside of the lessons. And she was very accommodating when I wanted to sing in a language other than English. I WILL return to lessons with her.
Mrs. He is awesome!
Angela moves at a pretty good clip, which is fine with me. I appreciate that she is tailoring the lessons to suit my abilities, rather than a one-size-fits all approach. I feel like I am a part of making choices, when appropriate. At the same time, Angela is confident in respectfully voicing a different opinion, and explaining it. I'm also taking piano lessons with her and appreciate her finding occasions to combine voice and piano opportunities.+ Read More

My 8 year old daughter takes lessons from Ms. Angela. My daughter loves to talk and Ms. Angela does so well with getting her back on subject smoothly. Her patience is admirable. My daughter is sounding better to me and she likes Ms. Angela as well.
I started learning piano with her and she is really a good teacher.
Great Singing Teacher for variety of voices...
Angela is a great singing teacher no matter your range or ability. She is very patient, very positive and makes sure to include all the basics like breathing, pronunciation and sight reading of music. Her time management of classes is superb!
I've been her student for a little over a year now and really feel like I've progressed tremendously. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone.
A great teacher!
I am probably Angela's oldest pupil (92) and I have seen many teachers, educators and lecturers in my lifetime, but none have equaled Angela for excellence. This young woman teaches the full time allotted to a lesson-a minimum of chit-chat. She is aware of the strengths and weaknesses of each pupil and teaches each with these in mind. She is endlessly patient and encouraging, and her enthusiasm for music is contagious; it lifts the spirits of the pupils. She has a thorough academic background in music and this fund of knowledge is used actively in her teaching-pupils cannot get away with anything. Her corrective measures, however, are not harsh or punitive, but gentle and subtle.
I am very proud of Angela and what she has accomplished, and very pleased and lucky to have found her as my piano teacher.
Thank you for being a good teacher
I am so happy that I have such a sweet and knowledgeable teacher!
Angela Hall Piano & Theory Lessons
Angela has a bottomless well of patience and understanding.
I've struggled with notation reading forever and can become easily overwhelmed when trying to read music. Also, playing in front of others isn't my strong suit.
That said, Angela has dealt with my issues systematically and mostly transparently. After just 6 months of lessons I'm really reading music and my ability to play in front of others has increased a great deal. Did I mention she does all that with a smile?
On top of being able to make huge improvements towards my real underlying player issues Angela's teaching methods are consistently increasing my musical knowledge and playing technique.
Also, because I have previous theory education, she's able to explain piano to me, not just in "players" terms, but, also from a theoretical view point as well.
The icing is her ability to constantly push me beyond my level of comfort, almost without me even noticing.
Ms. Hall is an all around excellent teacher.
After more than 6 months of lessons with her I have not had a single bad or questionable experience.
The voice lesson with Angela was great. Both my daughter and I have lessons with Angela, and both of us like her very much and we enjoyed our lessons. We will continue our lessons for awhile.
Mrs. Angela is an excellent instuctor
My daughter loves taking lessons with takelessons. She is learning so much and enjoys being taught new things. Her teacher is very patient as well as professional. It is apparent that my daughter has grown academically. She is 6 years old and our family can see improvements in her Math and Reading. Take lessons is great!
Angie is fantastic! She's organized, structured, energetic, patient, knowledgeable, encouraging, & empowers me to succeed. I love her style of teaching. She gives helpful exercises each week to enhance learning, & tracks the progress of her students. Overall my lessons have been a very positive & rewarding experience. I am confident that I will reach my goal of improving & enhancing my God-given talents, & I'll be the best that I can be! Thanks Angie for sharing your creative gifts!
Angela is an excellent teacher. She is patient and very good at offering solutions to the student's trouble spots. Has an excellent grasp of music theory as well as the mechanics of playing the piano. Highly recommended.
Knowledgeable and Fun
Working with Angela has been a very positive experience. She has a good balance of knowledge and out going personality, which makes for some very enjoyable vocal instruction lessons. In the time that she's been teaching me, she's helped to improve my knowledge of music theory, identify and break bad habits, and push my vocal limitations without risk of damaging my vocal chords. If you're looking for an instructor that really knows her stuff, and is really easy and fun to work with, I cannot recommend her enough.
Angela is wonderful! She is personable, and communicates with my daughter on a level that she can relate to. She's also very talented, has a beautiful voice, and plays the piano flawlessly. She makes Monica feel at ease in their sessions, and has invited me to sit in, as well. I would recommend Angela to anyone wanting to learn voice or piano.
