*** Lesson Details ***
I am a very fun loving person and believe in creating a positive environment where students feel comfortable to be themselves. At the same time I am a stickler for details and do not allow laziness. I believe a balance of fun with excellence has allowed my students to excel far beyond their own expectations. Good results takes HARD WORK! Please do not come to lessons with the expectation to sing like Beyoncé or play piano at Carnegie Hall after 4 lessons. Mastering your voice and instrument takes equal parts of time, hard work, dedication and patience.

My teaching style is individually based.
For vocal clients, I asses their strengths and weaknesses and develop a plan to build up their weak areas while helping them find "their own voice". I focus on breathing, intonation and control which I believe are the foundation of great singing ability. I use a classical Italian based program along with pop, R&B, jazz, and rock. I have vocal coached in many languages including Spanish, Japanese and Chinese.

For piano clients I focus on strength, dexterity and precision in fingering. I also help students learn to feel the music and bring their personality and touch to each piece they are performing.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Tanisha currently teaches at her performing arts academy the White H Arts Academy. There are private instruction rooms and a lobby waiting area for parents and guests. Parents may also sit in the lesson room if desired. Private lesson rooms include a piano, speakers, and a music stand.

The White H Arts Academy also has two state of the art mirrored dance rooms with sound systems and wireless microphones for practicing stage performances or rehearsing for a big show.

*** Specialties ***
Vocals: beg to adv
Piano: beg to inter

Vocal genres are classical (opera), pop, R&B, gospel, rock, jazz, blues and musical theater. I studied voice at Berklee College of Music. Have also studied Seth Riggs SLS (Speech Level Singing) method independently, however, I am not certified. I also teach in languages other than English including Spanish, Japanese and Chinese.

Piano instruction levels I teach are basic to intermediary focusing on classical, and general accompaniment abilities.

Our daughter had a great time with Rebecca for the 18 months she took flute lessons from her. We saw her level improve very quickly and she was able to jump ahead in her school orchestra after only 2 months with Rebecca as a new flute student. Rebecca is a professional but also a lot of fun. We highly recommend her.

Perfect class for those interested in starting a path to learn music, music theory, ear training, or have just always been interested in an instrument but have never known where to begin. Piano is so much fun to learn. Students will start with basic techniques and learn to play chords, scales and learn music theory and to site read.

About Rachel
I started my musical path in a Ballet Studio. I fell in love with the crackle of the vinyl record playing as I learned to listen and dance with the rhythm.

I started playing the guitar when I was in elementary and took classical lessons until I was a teenager.I really enjoy the art of practice and the journey of patience. The process of learning has helped me carve out and cultivate my style of music. It's opened up a lot of doors for me in my life. I've had the honor to play with a lot of great performers and have been lucky enough to tour the U.S. and Canada with festivals and showcases such as Vans Warped Tour, South By Southwest and the Halifax Pop Explosion.I've been the opening act for Carolyn Wonderland, Maria Taylor, Tsunami Bomb, Tilly and the Wall, Basia Bulat, Rise Against, Strike Anywhere. Anathallo, Cursive, Milton Hopki
ns, and Pony Up.

When I have free time I volunteer with the Houston Chapter of Girls Rock Camp to help teach girls empowerment through songwriting and music.

I began teaching as an afterschool job when I was 16. I was homeschooled, so I feel that the experience taught me that everyone learns differently and that there is not just one standardized method to playing music.

My teaching style varies with each student, but the one constant is my ability to make each and every client I encounter completely fall in LOVE with music. It's my super power.

Lesson plans are tailored for your specific needs and to help you achieve your musical goals and aspirations at your desired pace. I enjoy my students and making music with them.

Here is an overview of the lessons that I provide.

Guitar:
Finger Picking, Song Writing, Rhythm, Lead, Scales,Modes & Ear Training.

Songwriting and composition: Learn techniques, how to brain storm and plot your musical story line. This class pairs great with vocal lessons or guitar lessons.

Piano is a great way to understand music in general. No matter what instrument you play, it is important to learn how conceptualize the keyboard. I focus on harmony, ear-training, technique, improvisation, and rhythm. I can help you develop your repertoire and learn songs on your own. Building piano chops is key to grasping the fundamentals of music theory. IT WILL MAKE YOUR LIFE EASIER!

About Mendeleyev

I graduated from Berklee College of music in 2013 with a degree in professional music. I took 85 different courses in over 4 years with an emphasis on songwriting and performing. My principle instrument was Guitar but I have over a decade of training in EACH Piano, Bass, Drums, and Voice. I have been taking lessons most of my life and teaching for for almost 10 years. I believe becoming a multi-instrumentalist is one of the most important things for any musician!

My experience has been totally amazing. I'd never played any instruments before and didn't expect to pick anything up very quickly since I'm older and I've held judgments about when the right time to pick up musical skills. But when I sat down for the first time at the piano, Mendeleyev (Lev for short) gave me a few different techniques both kinetically and visually to work with right off the bat. Learning in multiple ways helped me retain what he showed me so I could begin to build from there everytime we played from then on. With the drum kit he let me play freely and then brought my awareness to what my hands were doing and walked me through simplifying and keeping beats. I think he's very in touch with intuitively guiding students in a way that doesn't criticize or judge. His patience and encouragment has been so helpful in allowing me to let go of my fear that what I'm playing can't sound good or improve; and the fantastic thing is that I am seeing improvement all the time! I would definitely recommend Lev as an instructor. I can't choose more than one instrument for lessons, but he's helped me with piano, percussion, singing and even a bit of ukulele and guitar.

Warm-Up will happen at the beginning of every lesson. Practice will be required week to week, only because practice makes perfect! In order to write songs, you must know theory and technique, that will also be covered.

About Bethany
I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. At the age of four,I sang my first solo in my church choir. Soon after, I began to play the piano and take piano lessons. After completing elementary school, still passionate about music, I auditioned for and attended Denver School of the Arts middle school. During high school,I continued to build my skills as a musician and vocalist. I helped to direct children’s choir at my church and developed my role in the music ministry. Not only did I direct the kids in the choir, I connected with them, encouraging them to stay on the right path. Shortly after graduating from high school, I relocated to Louisiana to attend college. In January of 2016 I started an organization called Stay In Tune. My organization was created to let kids live through music, and teach kids who are passionate about music,
that just a simple tune can touch a heart, or even save a life. I am currently working on a degree in Vocal Music Education.

I took bass lessons from Cameron through a college class. In just one semester (one lesson a week) I learned a years worth of music theory. Cameron explained it in a way that made sense. I learned a lot in the time taking lessons. Also became more confident in my playing because I learned about scales and many other aspects that help with playing around on the frets. Cameron is a great teacher and I would recommend to anyone!

You have to be able to read two different musical lines simultaneously, and keep track of what both your left and right hands are doing, all while your foot works the pedals. This means that most piano students learn how to play at home and in private piano lessons, instead
