While teaching classical piano, I always try to incorporate the material that students like the most: Holiday songs, Broadway melodies and favorite cartoon songs. All of this definitely adds to the enjoyment of learning how to play. Besides having two recitals a year, I encourage students to play in front of their peers at school, to always play for their families and to participate in various competitions and festivals around the St.Louis area.

Daniela is a wonderful teacher; while learning the basics of your keyboard, each lesson is enhanced with a new theme to give a greater understanding of this beautiful instrument. Daniela has helped me accomplished a lot in just five lessons; I hope to continue as long as I can!

I started playing piano at age seven when my mother enrolled me in lessons. I have been playing ever since, and I absolutely love it. I began teaching private piano lessons in 2003, and have taught many thousands of lessons since that time. I have experience accompanying choirs, instrumentalists, and vocalists, as well as playing as a soloist in various piano competitions and recitals. I recently began taking lessons in jazz piano, a genre I never learned much about. I believe it is never too late to learn something new, and I am excited to start this new chapter of my musical life and to use this new knowledge to enhance my own teaching.

In my piano lessons I use the Faber's fabulous Piano Adventures series. In my opinion, they are the best books on the market, emphasizing reading by intervals as opposed to memorizing note names. This method minimizes student frustration while also decreasing the amount of time it takes a student to read a new song. Piano Adventures also focuses ...

Students of all ages in a personal relaxed atmosphere.
Customized to each student. If the student has not previously taken lessons I use Piano Adventures as the basic course guide. I have found it the most productive and enjoyable for my students. I uses a minimum of the Lesson and Theory book for my younger students with either the basic course or Accelerated course depending on their age and maturity. Adults begin with the All In one adult book. I add the other books that accompany each level based on the particular students needs and interests. I believe that a good grounding in Theory is essential as a student who becomes proficient in sight reading, no matter how well he/she plays by ear, will find that the doors for lifetime musical fulfillment with be much wider. However, with a student who has already had some lessons I will be happy to continue with any method that the student is currently using.
I also believe in supplementing the Piano course with the student's favorite ...

"I've been taking online lessons with Wei for the past couple of months, and I quite enjoy them. As an adult piano player, I don’t have specific goals. I just play for fun most of the time. Wei, nevertheless, made specific teaching plans for me. He learns my strength and weaknesses, and chooses pieces that are both enjoyable to play and technically challenging for me, so that I’m able to tackle my weaknesses. His expertise helps me improve in many ways, like piano techniques and overall understanding of music. After a few lessons with him, I gained more confidence in playing. I’m able to improve my performance on the pieces I love. Wei is also an easy-going person. It’s fun to work with him. I strongly recommend his lessons if you are looking for a teacher with patience, expertise and passion for music."
