We begin with exercises to develop technique and train for agility, musicality and music theory. Classical music is used but not exclusively as we explore the many different genres of music! Ear training is also offered so that the student may be able to play by ear as well as reading music.

Students learn music theory as applied to the keyboard, sight-reading, improvisation and the application of classical technique to modern styles.

I believe learning to play the piano should be fun! I do focus on theory and technique which are important. I strive to cater to my individual students and have them play songs that they enjoy.

I bring more than thirty years of experience in teaching piano to students of every age and level. My lessons are tailored to each student's level and comprehension. I use a comprehensive approach to teaching piano incorporating technique development, learning of theory, piano performance and sight reading. In my lessons, I select and combine music from different music periods and styles. I also help students who want to obtain certificates from Associated Board of Royal School of Music (ABRSM) or Trinity College London (TCL) to excel in these examinations.

My musical development began when I was five years old. I was a member of the Fox Valley Youth Symphony, and a student at the Lawrence Academy of Music. After majoring in youth development and music at North Central University i started teaching for many of the lovely music schools in Minneapolis and the surrounding cities.

Piano is often seen as the gateway to every other instrument out there. Once you understand how to read and follow the music, your potential is unstoppable! There are numerous different genres, styles, and techniques I can show you on the piano. I use a proven method to get you learn better, that allows us both to set goals increasing your progress and success!
