Hi! My name is Tamara and I am so excited to teach you piano online!

I have been teaching piano for 20+ years both private lessons and group lessons. I am also a certified School Teacher and I enjoy working with children and adults of all ages and ability levels. My experience teaching Music and Band in multiple schools as well as classes on Songwriting have enabled me to develop some fun music programs for my students. My youngest students have been 4 years old up to 70 years old! It's so wonderful to see everyone's unique talents.

My students really enjoy my classes and they tell me all the time how much fun they have! I believe my personal nature, patience, knowledge of music and teaching, as well as sense of humor connect well with all of my students. I love watching their progress and develop ways "outside the box" to teach them musical skills (i.e. developing games, worksheets, goals for the months ahead).

Piano lesson repertoire is chosen by you! If you want to play a classic, a holiday song, or what's on the radio, I'll guide you how to play it while giving you the techniques and basics in a way that is easy and fun.

I have been teaching this subject for over 16 years. The main curriculum for beginners is Alfred's Basic Piano Library. There are three beginner levels (beginner, late, adult) and one will be selected after the first meeting. For non-beginning students, the course of study will be developed based on past experience, current abilities, and goals. It is not necessary to know how to read music at the first lesson for beginners. However, learning to read is a part of subsequent lessons. Music is not learned "by ear." A certain amount of theory will be a part of every lesson just as technique and repertoire. Students should come to the first lesson prepared to discuss their background & goals and the plan of their course of study.

I've taught many Piano students at a private music academy, ranging from small children to adults. For a beginner, we will focus on fundamentals, as good technique is an investment in future success. I use a well-respected Piano method book for all my students, and many of them have had great success under my instruction.

I have been teaching piano performance for 7 years to eager students of all experience levels.
Over time my students develop a solid technical foundation, as well as a deep understanding of music interpretation and phrasing.
Within the first few lessons I will provide you with the basic tools necessary to read music and rhythm.
My immediate goal is to provide my students with the structure and strategy necessary to properly learn any piece of music in any genre, with as little help from me as possible.

Every student has their own way of learning, and I will find that way! The beginner is brought through the traditional, classic method. But then I branch into modern styles, helping the student to find an original voice and perform music that resonates with today's listening audience. Together, we will explore American music that brings the intermediate and advanced student to understand blues and jazz improvisation, as well as composition.
