I teach piano both as a starting to other instruments and as a goal in and of itself. My method is to teach as much as I can in the learning style of the student. I have taught from every available piano method book out there. The goal is not to get through each book as quick as we can. The goal is to become a student who enjoys making music. The student and I work as much as we can during the lesson time on the understanding of the songs, method, style, and theory of music. Therefore, if a someone does not have much time for practice during a week, as happens for time to time, they will still learn and progress.

About Shae
I am an music instructor with 27 years of experience. I have a Bachelor's degree in Sacred Music with a major in Voice. I have been playing piano for 35 years with having been an accompanist for choirs and soloists and a pianist at weddings and churches. I am a believer that anyone can learn piano and improve their abilities! I also know that a knowledge of music and music theory go together to improve one's learning ability in any area of his/her life. The student and I would work together. I don't just teach the "how to", I help and encourage taking time at the lesson to learn and understand the music. I am a huge advocate of building the student's skills during the lesson time and using the rest of the week on their own to continue to review the skills they have already acquired. I have a piano recital once a year in the spring
. 2 or 3 months ahead, we decide on a song they like that will show off their acquired skills. I look forward to being your teacher! We will have fun learning!

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a friendly person and like to put everyone at ease. I try to adapt to each student's learning style. As I have hinted at in my bio, I teach the skills and then we work together on these skills during the lesson. The idea is for the knowledge and skills to come together before the student tries on their own. The student actually learns quicker this way and we repeat lessons much less. The student also desires to learn when they see those goals being attained at a quicker pace. I usually average one lesson book every 2-3 months, depending on the student.

*** Specialties ***
I have taught every method available for piano. My preference is Faber & Faber. For more advanced students we create our own curriculum.

I appreciate Shae's honesty. For she is a very "present" teacher! Explains what the song is supposed too sound like, look like and feel like. Then says "good luck"! Just kidding. Shae is patient and good to work with. Very supportive, even as I plodded along. She knows her stuff!!

One kid came to me so excited saying "I'm actually learning it!" and the other "I really like her" Actually both kids told me how much they liked her. :-) Definitely one of the better experiences we've had with piano teachers. So excited to continue.

I've been teaching piano privately and in group settings for eight years. I strive to create a fun and exciting environment to fit each student's learning style and goals. In my home studio I have an upright piano as well as an 88 key weighted keyboard.
I enjoy using technology in my lessons and believe it is a great way to keep students excited. In addition to using the Faber Piano Adventures and Bastien methods, I use a few mobile applications on my tablet to assist in the learning of rhythm and note reading.

I love teaching little ones to play the piano! Dynamic lessons often include games, coloring, and listening. Lesson materials will center around the Faber Piano Adventure Series.

About Amanda
Hi! My name is Amanda and I have been teaching private lessons since 2002. I teach both French Horn and Piano lessons in my home studio or at your home. I believe that everybody learns differently so there is no "cookie cutter" lesson plan with me. Your lessons will be tailored to your musical interests and style of learning. Young beginning piano students can expect to learn theory through games and coloring projects for example. I strive for a dynamic studio so that all involved have fun learning.

I am also a registered Wunderkeys instructor. Wunderkeys is a piano method specifically designed for preschoolers aged 3-5 years old. Using pictures, rhymes, singing, games, and more, lessons are so much fun that students don't even realize they're learning! Children don't need to have any musical background or knowledge to learn with the W
underkeys method.

I hold a Bachelors degree in French Horn performance from the University of MN-Duluth with piano being my secondary instrument. I also hold a Master's Degree from Wichita State University. I held the position of Assistant French Horn in the Wichita Symphony and have freelanced and subbed with numerous orchestras and groups in the midwest including the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra.

Classical theory, technique, pop, rock, classical genres. Tailored to suit student's goals and level of devotion. Learn how to practice to learn challenging musical passages. Higher fees are listed for lessons requiring travel to music studio.

About Yasmin
I studied classical piano and theory with Sr. Cecile Amore, jazz theory and mellophone with be-bop saxophonist John Mastroianni, jazz piano with Noreen Grey, and jazz history with the late Bill Finegan- big-band leader and acclaimed arranger for Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller.

I enjoy playing classical music (primarily Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin) tango, and pop songs as well. I have played keyboards and bass guitar professionally and enjoyed some commercial recognition in California when invited to open for a well known Bay Area band ("Foxboro Hot Tubs" a.k.a. "Green Day") at The Roxy and a handful of other west coast venues.

My music students are introduced to basic music theory, notation, and technique to enable them to play fun, simple melodies after the first lesson, and fun simple arrangements after the first month.
My stude
nts can expect lessons to suit their tastes and goals, whether they intend to pursue music formally, professionally, or for personal enjoyment.

*** Lesson Details ***
Expect this to be fun! All lessons will incorporate proper playing technique and elements of the most basic theory, no matter the style of music. If students can devote some time to practice every week, they will see results. If students practice daily, they may exceed their expectations!

With each new song or lesson to be learned, I walk you through each part so that your practice time alone is fruitful. I encourage students to tell me what they want to learn. Any arrangement, classical or pop, can be made accessible to any level.

*** Studio Equipment ***
In-Studio lessons take place in teacher's home or at Chanson Voice and Music Academy in St. Paul.

*** Specialties ***
Ear training, music notation & sight reading, music theory, tablature, lead sheets, solo and ensemble.
Classical training, for those so inclined!

Many different methods are used, using the one most effective and tailored for your student. Faber and Faber is a favorite. I also teach Suzuki Piano lessons. Students have a 30 minute private lesson once per week. Quarterly all the students get together for a group lesson. this is a fun time of playing music games, performing a special piece for each other, learning how to be an appreciative audience, coloring music notes for music theory and listening examples of the great Classical composers. We have Christmas, fall, and Valentine parties too with the group lessons. Students are able to perform at many Recitals thru the year. They can earn ribbons, medals, and trophies! We always have a Christmas Recital at the Mall of America, and a huge Recital in the Spring!

Experienced teacher of 5 years, specializing in the beginner piano. All ages welcome. Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. I've been playing piano for 8 years, studying both classical and popular styles.
