About Kristin
Hello!

I received a Bachelor's in Music Education and Performance from Drake University in Flute and Piano. Currently pursuing a Master's in Music Therapy.

At Drake, I received a musical scholarship covering 80% of my tuition costs.
I was also honored to sit as Principal Flute in both the Drake Symphony Orchestra and the Drake Wind Symphony, the top performing groups at the University.

I started to play the flute and piano in second grade, and
my love and passion for music have only grown and matured since then.

I enjoy sharing what I've learned, and learning from my students as well.

I am excited and thrilled by the opportunity to work with you!

My first piano lesson turned out to be so much more than I could have ever expected. My teacher, Kristin is so engaged in the lesson and so very well prepared. We covered so much in such a short time. She made every minute both fun and informative while providing a very friendly environment in her studio. I feel very fortunate to have found such a really competent music teacher.

He was patient, prepared to help with test taking skills along with the actual content of the tests, and made himself available on a very short notice. In addition, Daniel is just a nice, respectful person that was a pleasure to interact with. I can not say enough. Highly recommend him!

Prefer to teach children on piano. 10+ years experience. Studied most recently with Bulent Guneralp.

The beginner student of piano will learn to read music and proper posture for performance. We will quickly learn simple songs, and combine technical exercises in a fun manner to encourage students to want to practice.

About Tegan
I have taught private instruction and group instruction in such varied subjects as Music Theory/Ear Training, Woodwinds, and Crochet. I completed a B.A. of Music at University of Massachusetts - Boston, in August, 2014. As a working musician, I currently perform oboe with the Brockton Symphony Orchestra (Dir. James Orent) and the University of Massachusetts - Boston Chamber Orchestra (Dir. Dr. Jon C. Mitchell). I have most recently studied under Dr. Emilian Badea in both Oboe and Accordion, with Bulent Guneralp in Piano and Voice, and with Dr. David Patterson for Music Theory, Ear Training, Arrangement and Composition. Music has been an important part of my life for over 20 years.

For information regarding my approach to instruction of a specific subject, please click on the name of the subject listed above for a full description.

A
s I do not have access to a car, I prefer that students come to my home studio in Somerville, or that they be within public transit options.

N.B. I own a dog, so for those with allergies, it might be best to meet in your own home.

As a Music Ed. degree student at the Berklee College of Music I had 3 years (6 semesters) of keyboard training and studies in technique, sight-reading, rhythm and various styles of performance. I have been teaching piano to players of all levels since 1986.

About Bob
Hi, Bob here...... very much looking forward to meeting you! I've been teaching music since 1980 (Guitar, Bass, Piano and Voice) and I love helping my students play well! Of course we throw jamming and/or composing music into the mix when desired and appropriate. Many of my students perform, and record their music.
I earned my degrees from the Berklee College of Music for Performance and Music Ed. in 1980. I founded my School of Music in 1983, which served as a prep school for Berklee and other schools. We offered private instruction, courses, ensembles and recording courses and producing artists and band's CD's. Many of my former students have become major stars and celebs in music.
I'm a warm, funny, passionate person. I love to teach and my teaching style is a patient, step by step, and custom tailored approach for your individu
al needs and goals. Always an emphasis on FUN! My philosophy as a teacher is to give you the tools and help you develop skills with them so that you can learn and grow musically on your own! I look forward to helping you reach and achieve all your goals!

We will learn to read music, play in your favorite style from pop and jazz to classical music, and we will have fun!

About Inna
Hello, and thank you for your interest!

My name is Inna, I'm a jazz and world vocalist, pianist and composer.

I come from family of musicians, and I have started exploring music since the age of 5. In addition to my classical studies in Russia, I won the only full tuition scholarship to study in famous Berklee College of Music in the competition that took place during Berklee Asia Scholarship Tour in 2010.

In Berklee I was deeply influenced and moved by Eastern European and Middle Eastern music, which lead to experimentations in fusing those genres with modal jazz and then later rock.

I studied Vocal Performance, and Contemporary Writing and Production, and I have over a decade of experience in teaching, and performing, so I look forward to working with you to develop your voice, piano, and composing/arranging skills!

Cur
rently I teach from my home studio in Boston, and I'm also available to come to your location.

I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

Beginning and Intermediate Piano. I specialize in teaching combination voice/piano lessons to prepare vocalists for their own practice needs and to help pianists improve their ear and prepare them for accompanying.

About Eva
Eva found new life and beauty through musical study, and she hopes to help others do the same. Her classical training has helped her perform opera, musical numbers, jazz, choral music, contemporary and traditional church music, and classical solo repertoire. Eva is most interested in teaching students how to teach themselves and develop their own sense of musicality.

Eva taught voice/piano for 3 years in Durham, NC where she worked as a Choral Scholar and sang with the Durham Choral Society. During this time, she also completed a Masters degree in theology at Duke.

The feedback from my former students is unanimous: I provide a comfortable, safe space for my students to grow in their awareness of themselves and their instrument. My students gain confidence as they polish their technique, and I have coached several high school stude
nts through the audition process and on to their undergraduate music program. They report being extremely well prepared, impressing their new voices teachers with their solid technical foundation and basic repertoire knowledge. I also have experience with adult students who have said their lessons are the best part of their week, a stress reliever, and the best thing they have done for themselves.

Eva and her family recently relocated to the Northeast so her husband could pursue a Ph.D. in theological ethics at Boston College. Eva now sings with the Marsh Chapel Choir at Boston University and teaches near Cumberland, RI.

Music theory, sight reading, and chord knowledge are all integral parts of playing the piano. I prefer to start with reading, and move through popular songs that are on the radio now to learn basic chords. You'll be surprised how fast you can pick things up!

About Jonathan
Are you tired of practicing your instrument with little to no improvement? Don't you wish you could just open your laptop and start making music? You've come to the right place. I have toured with funk and rock bands, I have release multiple CDs and music videos, and am always learning new things about technology and how it relates to music. I'd love to share what I've learned with you!

I started on the piano at age 6, picked up the saxophone at age 10, and have been obsessed with music my entire life. I studied jazz performance in college, but for the past 4 years, I've been focused mainly on electronic music production, mixing, and mastering. To me, it's the most rewarding way to create music. Any sound you're looking for, whether it's a piano, guitar, or some strange synth, can be created to perfection given the right knowledge.

I love music. I know how music is made. I know how hands work. I know how pianos work. I know how to get hands to make music with a piano. Warning: it takes patience and practice.

About Alan
I love music, I know how it works. I know how pianos and hands work. I know how to get hands to make music with pianos. Beware, it takes patience and practice.

I took my first piano lesson when I was 5. I played Euphonium (Baritone Tuba) in concert band and marching band in Elementary School, Middle School, and High School. I taught myself guitar and played keyboards and guitar (really loud guitar) in rock bands. I took some flute lessons. I got Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Piano. I also studied pipe organ. I studied electronic music. I accompanied opera singers and choirs. I taught piano, music theory, harmony, and electronic music privately and for universities. I've played in the orchestras for operas, musicals and theatrical productions. I've worked as a church organist. I played keyboards in oldies bands. I've sung in church
choirs. I sang in a vocal quartet that performed early Renaissance music in Switzerland and France. Since I was a teenager, I've written and arranged music. Throughout all of this, I've played and taught piano. Like I said, I love music.
