I attune to each students needs, whether they are visual, pattern, or verbal learners. I do not subscribe to any "Piano 101" books; instead write practice exercises on a computer program or supply actual pieces or piano books, attuned to each student's needs. Lines on a page are boring for many; I add color to the notes on the page to help teach beginners the practice of sight reading, as I myself have synesthesia. I also encourage students to learn whichever music they want: if one wants to learn ragtime, I will teach ragtime; if one wants to learn jazz, I will teach jazz; and if one wants to learn classical, I will teach classical. I hope to expand students' involvement in music and enhance creativity. I also understand how important listening is, and encourage students to listen. But amidst all this, I strongly believe it is in both of our best interests to not assign busywork. Piano is more than a just skill; it is a hobby, a meditation practice, and it can be a tool for your life
About Tim
Hi I'm Tim! I know that with most teachers, there's usually some type of stereotype involved. Some are the "strict teacher", some are the "cool teacher", some are the "lazy teacher" and others are the "teacher who can't teach". Well I just want to be the teacher that works for making you learn o

Every student has their own way of learning, and I will find that way! The beginner is brought through the traditional, classic method. But then I branch into modern styles, helping the student to find an original voice and perform music that resonates with today's listening audience. Together, we will explore American music that brings the intermediate and advanced student to understand blues and jazz improvisation, as well as composition.
About Paul
Motivation to practice is the key. Working with the parents, I like to make the lesson fun for the student, while getting the student to work hard and to keep them focused on success. Both current and former students and their parents are eager to provide references. I've taught all ages; in mu

Music has been my passion since starting lessons age 7 and training for years in performance, composition and theory, culminating in a masters degree from The Royal Academy of Music in London, England. Learning to read music well with enjoyment, musicality and strong technique is my main focus. I cover music from different periods in history, including music being composed today. I work with children age 5 to adults with all levels of experience. I have taught children in schools and privately in my home studio where I have an upright acoustic Schulze Pollmann (German/Italian) piano and a Yamaha keyboard with weighted keys. Positive reinforcement is my teaching philosophy and each lesson is tailored to the students needs and goals. Check out my availability and let’s get started!

Mike makes learning music so much fun. My daughter enjoyed the lessons and enjoyed the pieces he taught her. She is now pretty good at improv as well.
I actually took guitar lessons from Mike too, and I learned so much in a very short time.
When Mike is giving lessons, there's no time wasted. My daughter was always playing something during the lesson.
So Mike's enthusiasm for music is infectious. The kids will enjoy him, the lesson, and the music.
Thanks, Mike!"
