I have been teaching the wonderful instrument of the piano for more than seven years.

I utilize the Faber Piano Adventures piano series of lesson books that includes lessons and homework in a fun and engaging way to promote retention. I also use the publication A New Approach to Keyboard Harmony to learn chord progressions, sequences, modulations, realization of both figured and un-figured basses, basic improvisation, and score reading. Learning these techniques will help transition students seamlessly to various styles and genres that incorporate the piano, helping you learn and love the piano without frustrating stoppages that often lead us away from lesson continuity.

From there, for intermediate and advance students I use the Hanon Piano Exercises Book to promote correct and precise fingering, syncopation, arpeggiation, pedaling, and key centering.

Playing piano is fun! Music is a part of each of us and we gain so much from music lessons. Beginners of all ages are welcomed and encouraged! I try to match music choices and teaching materials to each student because as an experienced teacher I know that we each have our own likes and learning styles. I have been playing piano and guitar my whole life, and teaching professionally through private lessons and at a music school for over 10 years. I have experience teaching all ages, as young as 3 years old. With me, you will learn all of the skills, techniques, and theory required to become a great musician in any genre!

After studying at William Paterson University, The New School for Jazz, and Bard College, I've discovered that consistently meeting new people and connecting with competent mentors is a better music education than anything a textbook can offer.

As a composer, I treat each piece as a new building with different architecture. Each composition will have unique conventions but start with the same trademark foundation I lay for everything I do.

As a performer, I make sure to play to my strengths and the crowd. At the end of the day we artists perform to entertain and bring people together.

As an educator, I tailor my teaching to fit the specific needs of each student. While foundation is necessary, at the end of the day a good teacher should always have the mentee's goals at the forefront of their approach.
