My teaching philosophy is to encourage, uplift, inspire and motivate, making music fun for those who want to learn to play. Since encouraging students can mean using different techniques for each student, I tailor lessons to meet the unique needs and skill levels of each individual.
My teaching style is to maintain a nurturing approach to teaching.... praising the 'things done well' before gently discussing and working through the places that need 'tweaking'. A student never leaves our lesson feeling belittled, but motivated to try even harder! My main purpose as a piano teacher is to help you or your child to cultivate a love of music!
In light of Covid-19 concerns, my studio's piano instruction is currently being offered ONLINE ONLY, from anywhere in the world. Please see Online Lessons for more detail.
My education includes:
Bachelor of Music - Piano Performance
Master of Arts - Leadership
I am a proud member of MTNA - Music Teachers National Association and Georgia Music ...

Peter has been teaching my 9-yr old daughter for the past 4 months and I am highly impressed with his teaching and interpersonal abilities. My daughter took lessons with another teacher all last year but Peter has been able to get her to improve at a much quicker pace. He is very patient but also know how to push her along. Plus, all my interactions with him have been very professional and friendly. Peter is always on time for our in-home lesson. Highly recommend!"

We all know the importance of warming up - but do you actually commit to a proper warm-up every time you sit down to play the piano? If you're in a rush, it's easy to forget it. However, an effective warm-up is essential for avoiding injuries, such as tendonitis, and can also help increase the dexterity of your fingers and hands, allowing you to reach certain tough chords. Before you get into the "meat and potatoes" of your practice session, you'll want to spend a good 10-15 minutes focus …
