Piano is skill that is kinetic as well as audible and visual. It is something that will take you from childhood long through your life. I have taught for many years (25+) and have found that students with enthusiasm and dedication can accomplish whatever they set their goals to do. Since I am also a life-coach, my students benefit from many years of experience as well as bonus skills like goal-setting, tools to get over humps as well as Master Classes and Theory expertise. Music is what moves the universe!

About Marsha
Fall, fall, fall! Beautiful music, beautiful weather, beautiful trees that look like flowers for leaves! We are finishing Halloween pieces and starting Christmas ones! Master Class next month preparation, and a 100 day Music Challenge in full swing. I am currently full except for ONE slot Wed at 4:30, snatch it up quickly!

Goals: Since I am also a Life Coach, we really focus on how to accomplish our hopes and desires. We begin by weekly, then monthly and even a yearly goal.

Each week we also focus on something in my STUDENT PAL - mnemonic. Another is TECHNIQUE. Technique is the ability to have proper position, wrist-lifts and finger curve as well as Theoretic knowledge and application.

I started giving out lickable gold stars, you know, the old-fashioned kind? They are for those students who mark their lesson sheet a
nd come prepared... They really seem to enjoy that, and I adore the nostalgia!

It is a great week when students are nearly all prepared and ready for their lessons. This makes both Coach and student more effective and the time together more enjoyable.

Perhaps you are reading this with both a little excitement and a little concern. Finding the right person for your or your student can be intimidating. A short introduction follows so that you know a little about me and my philosophy which can assist you make an informed decision. If we are a good fit, lessons and learning progress more joyfully.

I have been teaching music, performing music and enjoying music since I was a tiny three-year old. My first piano lessons were at age seven. I have since taught the students of former students! How fun is that?

Music has blessed my life in countless ways and given me opportunities I'd never dreamed of. Teaching at the Young Artists Conservatory of Music; Singing in Carnegie Hall, Performing across Europe and teaching the best students for over 25 years has been a delight.

I believe strongly that those who spend their time and resources for musical education are some of the brightest and most intelligent people around. Each of my students have their own individual goals and reasons for taking music lessons, which we revisit monthly. I believe that my role is to be a support and tool for them/you to accomplish the goals set, working with music that delights and educates.

You want the best teacher, who offers information, example, practice and performance opportunities and then gets out of the way of the student's own "voice" (whether playing or singing) so that they can be free to create their own style.

*** Lesson Details ***
In our lessons, we work with a predictable schedule of balance. We have weekly exercises to make strong fingers and or voices, and technique and theory practice to hone skills that will improve our performances, whether they are for others or for our own benefit. Each student of piano can learn how to create and write their own music in time, choose their own pieces to work on, and have a say in their classical and performance goals.

We have a program of advancement, so you and your loved ones can visually see your progress and measure your skills, complete with awards and trophies.

What you learn, has everything to do with your commitment. Practice doesn't make perfect, Practice makes permanent. Only perfect practice makes perfect.

Learning the piano ought to be a JOY. I believe in playing the piano, not 'practicing' it. Enjoy what you do, and you'll do it longer and with celebration instead of duty.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano - upright; CD player; Music stands; Dozens of music books and lesson materials; flash cards; computer and music writing program; mic and mirror, syllabus.

*** Travel Equipment ***
No travel.

*** Specialties ***
Over the years I have dabbled in most methods, but finally come to use my own syllabus and musicianship. I can easily adapt to your favourite if that is your desire. I specialize in a total music education, not merely in learning notes. It is like looking in a mirror and only seeing eyes and skin. Music has many facets and we discover all of them.

I have been teaching children and adults for the past 15 years. I have worked in public schools as a band instructor, choir director, orchestra director and general music teacher. My private
piano students have enjoyed playing from a wide variety of musical
styles from classical to modern.

About Steve
Steve began his musical journey on the piano as a child, later moving on to explore
clarinet and trumpet in band before discovering the French horn in high school.
Though he earned his bachelor of music in horn performance at CSU, Sacramento, he never gave
up the piano, teaching students and accompanying choirs throughout college, and
earning scholarships for both instruments.

Steve has played for a number of musical groups, from orchestras, chamber
groups and community bands to being a pit musician in musical theater and
opera. This year, he will be joining the William Jessup University Wind
Ensemble and playing horn in that group. For the last several years, Steve has
directed the orchestra at his church, and has also arranged hymns and worship music
for church orchestras and smaller ensembles.

Besides teaching piano and hor

From starting to learn the piano, to an intermediate level.

About Bianca
Hello! My name is Bianca and I would like to help you enter and enjoy the wonderful world of music!

I was introduced to music at a young age and haven't stopped playing. I love to have fun when I play, but I love sharing my passion and joy even more!

I feel that my experience as a teacher has helped me grow to build relationships with my students. I don't treat lessons like Juilliard studies. I have fun with my students. Music can be a serious study, but it is also one of the most fun and rewarding. My goal is to build a good relationship with my student so that I can work with them, rather than against them, to achieve the same goal. Making music is fun, but developing a passion for it gives it the life that nothing else can.

Qualifications:
A.A. Traditional Music
B.M. Music Education
17 Years Performance Experience
6 years
teaching Elementary School Band and Choir
3 years teaching High School Band and Choir
6 years teaching privately

In my time working as a music tutor, I have helped students falling behind in their performance classes to exceed expectations and come out ahead of their class in the end. As a teacher, my students continue to impress me with their application of knowledge towards their other classes, and continue to perform and compete.

*** Lesson Details ***
The first lesson is about getting to know each other. From here, I can decide how and what should be taught.

My lessons are laid back and include small breaks, especially for beginners. I understand that learning certain techniques can be frustrating. I also understand that a student can become tired. These short two minute breaks are used to further discuss the technique, theory, and history behind the literature. It also helps to strengthen the bond that I like to create with my students.

I use much of the same curriculum that band instructors use in the Sacramento area, making transferring from private lesson to band and other ensembles easier. I focus on both solo and ensemble literature, helping the student succeed as both a solo performer and an ensemble performer. With this, I also give a small amount of theory and history so that the student can develop a relationship with their instrument and the music.

I do give practice homework for each lesson to make sure the student keeps up with what we have learned and help them achieve their goals. I may also give research homework, or give the student a worksheet to complete by the next lesson in order to better understand the music and the time period they are working with.

Lessons start with a warm up and review to cover concepts before moving on to new ones. I only teach as fast as the student would like to go. I only move on to the next exercise when the student feels comfortable and ready.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Looking into adding a studio in the Sacramento Area.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I bring my own horn for instruction. I expect the student to provide their own instrument and have their own book to work from so that they may practice between sessions.

*** Specialties ***
Teach: Classical
Specialize in Classical with emphasis in solo and ensemble playing

I believe music makes an individual happier and assists in intellectual growth. If you just want to learn 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' or pursue a professional career in music, you have to start with something and I would be more than glad to help you start in your new adventure.

About Javier
My name is Javier and I love to teach !

I am originally from Guanajuato, Mexico and in my last year of high school, I decided to take private piano lessons with a local teacher and it was during this time period that I learned classical pieces by Beethoven and Mozart. I also took music notation and I tried a hand at composing, discovering a new way to communicate in terms of music.

After moving to the USA, I resume my music education, learning new concepts on classical, blues and pop styles, as well as chord progression and accompaniment pieces. After a year and after completing the teacher training program, I started to teach piano from my home studio.

During this time, I took upon myself two more years of intense composition study and experimenting with some of the secrets of this art, which now has become one of my passion. In
2007 I earned a diploma from this institution and in the same year I released two CDs of my own compositions: Van Gogh Sunflower's and Dimes y Diretes.

This year I have enrolled in a music program at the Music Conservatory of San Francisco, where I am expecting to learn and expand my knowledge on technique, performing, and music ensembles.

For six years, I have been teaching successfully from my home studio, teaching students of all ages and with different music backgrounds.

*** Lesson Details ***
I teach piano and I specialize in classical and contemporary music styles

I am a strong believer of traditional teaching methods, however, I have learn that we all learn in different ways, so I let my students discover music by teaching them how to relate to the piano first, after they become familiar with the instrument by playing easy but wonderful melodies I start with the process of teaching music notation, scales, chords, analyzing songs, music history, exercises.

I teach all ages, I am very patient and supportive, never pushy but firm with my students goals.

Piano is the place almost all musicians learn their theory and ear training. It has to do with how easy it is to play many notes at once. Other instruments do not allow this. They limit to sometimes one note at a time. That explains why every institution of higher learning (college) in the western world requires every student of music to learn piano along WITH their instrument. It's for education in harmony. Piano is a nice instrument musically by itself too though. It can be a complete music without having to sing or get a band together.

About Loren
Loren is a well-known music instructor and has been teaching private music lessons in the Elk Grove area since 2002. He has been teaching for years and years, has two music degrees and is an active performer in many styles, enjoying a steady gigging schedule in the Sacramento area. He's "the real deal."

*** Lesson Details ***
The lessons are of the highest quality available as the student learns to read music, is guided in music theory with ear training, technique, and performance, however performance remains optional. There are options.

We often begin with songs that the student already likes. Sometimes that's the ticket. From Bach to the Beatles, Taylor Swift to Bob Dylan, there are always great entrance points.

Theory, (chords, intervals, scales, cadences, etc.) Reading music, (tabs, traditional music notation, charts), Te
chnique, (right and left hand patterns), it's all covered. It's fun and legitimate education.

*** Specialties ***
Lessons in piano or guitar cover all popular music styles including country, rock, and classical.

Piano is home-base for everything that is music. It has rhythm and pitch, melody, chords, harmony, and bass lines. As a drummer in a band, producer, and piano player, I can say with confidence that learning piano is almost required for learning music.

We'll take different approaches to learning. We'll go through basic to advanced theory and learn how to read music as well as work on ear training and learn songs by ear.

Everyone has different learning styles so I tailor the lessons to each individual student. Everyone can learn, and I promise you can too!

If you have any questions or would like to meet in person to see if it's a good fit, let me know :)

About Alex
MUSIC: My first private lessons were on piano at 8 years of age with piano lessons, I learned about he basic fundamentals of music (scales, melodies, harmonies, rhythm, time and key signatures, accidentals, etc.). After discovering that rhythms were the most interesting to me, I decided to start drum lessons and fell in love with it. After taking private lessons and mastering my craft, new doors were opened: wedding gigs, an amazing high school band experience, and even performances in Spain and New York. I started teaching in 2012 and developed the comfort to share what I've learned over the years. If the student is willing to work hard, I can provide the knowledge and wisdom to help the student improve. TUTORING: I've always been strong in math- and science-type classes. I'm a Mechanical Engineering major at CSUS. I've received high gra
des in all of my math classes, and I have experience working with people of all ages.

I provide students with the Bastien Piano Basics method and the Alfred Piano method. I believe that this is the best way for a beginning student to learn. I also teach students (both beginning and intermediate) the art of piano technique, and how to incorporate it in their piano practice.

About Arend
Arend Aldama was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. He began playing piano at 7. His teacher was Dr. Beverly Wesner-Hoehn, PhD, a classical Harpist and Pianist who performs throughout California. During his years at school, he performed in musical productions and was twice awarded the All Star Piano Student Award in 2004 and 2011.

In 2012, while attending American River College in Sacramento, CA, Arend auditioned and was chosen to be in the Piano Program for music major students. He studied Music Theory with Dr. Joseph Gilman. His piano instructor was Professor Tatiana Scott, a well-known professor and teacher who taught him the studies of ear training and melodic dictation. During his years at American River College, he auditioned and was chosen three times to perform with ARC Orchestra for the Concerto-Aria Competition. At ARC he e
