Piano technic, reading music, and learning to express your self on the piano....all of this will be taught in a fun but challenging way

About Ronda
My love of music started at the young age of 6 with piano lessons. My parents always said, "piano lessons were the best investment they ever made." Because of their investment it took me through my growing up years playing piano and singing at church and school then into college with a music major. I also auditioned and made the specialty touring "Vanguard Choral Group" and had the experience of producing a record back in the day. Taking what I had learned is now a joy to share with you.

As a private teacher, I can promise you an enjoyable and very rewarding experience - smiles and laughter are guaranteed! My number one goal for each of my students is to foster confidence in one's self and one's abilities and to grow one's skills with the passion in music.

For more than 30 years I have taught private piano and vocal lessons. I also
have taught K-12th Music classes in Private Schools and directed children and adult choirs in churches. My joy in life is sharing my love for music with you!

*** Lesson Details ***
Our lessons will be filled with fun, yet challenging. I am patient and very encouraging with every student. I understand that every student learns in a way that's unique to them and I will do my best to discover your best learning method.

I believe it is important for you to have a strong foundation of learning to read notes and understanding the basics of music. Each lesson will conclude with an assignment of songs given to work on throughout the week. These will be the same songs worked on during the lesson time, so you will go home with the knowledge to master each song. Music theory and technique exercises will also be included in the assignments.

Daily practice is strongly urged and will be rewarded. The amount of practice time varies by age and level of skill.

Within the first 3 - 6 months you will understand the basics and start feeling confident in becoming the pianist or vocalist you desire. Everyone learns at their own pace but with your desire and a little hard work and me as your guide and cheerleader you will succeed!

I use the Bastien and Alfred method books. I will also introduce Christmas, Pop, Jazz, Christian, Classical and Broadway Hits for variety as time goes on.

Looking forward to meeting you!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Digital Piano

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will purchase books but expect reimbursement for them on your first lesson. Cost is usually $10.00 to $22.00 depending on which music books I feel will work best for your age and ability.

*** Specialties ***
Creativity in both piano training
Enjoy all aspects of the arts including set design, costuming, acting and singing.

I've been teaching music for 15 yrs on guitar, piano, bass, cello and bass. My students have ranged from from 5yrs to 75yrs of age. I have seen many student go on to join orchestras, bands, broadway shows or simply continued their education to a university or college. Being able to read music profeciently has given me the opportunity to teach off many method books but like to use Alfred Method, Mel Bay and Frederick Noad Method books. I teach many styles ranging from classical, jazz & blues, rock, contemporary and pop. I do stress and recommend all my students to learn how to read music and usually by our second or third lesson they will playing simple songs. I am here to help you make music!

About OMAR
Knowing that you are looking for a instructor to teach you music puts a smile on my face. You see, music has been a part of my life since the age of 3. Some of my first memories are of me accompanying my father at home with his rehearsals or just singing together to have fun as a family. I believe music is a gift that unites people together bringing out our deepest emotions that words cannot express. At the age of 5 I received an organ and from that point on I embarked on a long life journey to indulge and learn more about music. In elementary, junior high and high school I was involved in any subject dealing with music. I joined school choirs, orchestras, bands, marching bands, jazz bands, musicals you name it. While enjoying all school music activities I was selected to join in honor county and state orchestras and choirs. In junior h
igh and high school I was selected to play for the Junior Pacific Symphony Orchestra, received scholarships to music summer camps, and was selected musician of the year. In college my quest continued with the Orange Coast College Orchestra, Praise Symphony Orchestra, Vanguard University Orchestra as well as guitar ensembles and college choir groups. I've also taken private lessons from Dr. Art David (Julliard graduate) in stand up bass as well as David Black (Pacific Symphony Orchestra) and classical guitar with Richard Glenn and David Murray. I've been teaching now for 15 years in guitar, classical guitar, bass guitar, stand up bass, cello, piano and voice ranging from 5 yr old to 65 yr old. My styles of music range from classical, jazz, rock, blues and contemporary. At this point I'm enjoying playing and singing in my church choir and worship team as well as teaching my two kids the joys of music. I hope you truly enjoy the joy of learning music whether it be through me or another teacher.

*** Lesson Details ***
As a teacher I require all students to set time aside to practice. For without it, it is only wasting your time, your money and my time. I don't expect a total dedication to it but I do want to see some effort put into it. A little practice can go a long way and the more you do it, the faster you will progress and the more you will enjoy it. We will first start off with what you want out of music and the level you are at and go from there. Student can bring their own music either thru tabs, music sheet or just by ear but one thing I do expect is a student to learn how to read music notation. We will go thru the regular warm up exercises, material practiced during the week and any new music for the following week. Correct techniques in how to hold your instrument or voice procedures will be addressed. Music theory will also be part of the lesson as well as ear training. At the end of either 3 to 6 months you will have learned the basics of music and will be playing songs for you or someone else to enjoy. I will make it a total relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere but some dedication has to put on the students' part.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Dedicated music room, guitar both classical and electric, piano, cello, upright bass and electric bass guitar

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide my own instrument. I can also provide music stand, small amplifier if needed and music material for the first few lesson until student provides for him/her self. Student must have own instrument.

*** Specialties ***
My way of teaching would have to be that they must learn how to read music while learning how to play an instrument.

About Denise
I'€ve always had a love for music. When I was 8 years old, I taught myself how to read music before my first piano lesson because I was so excited to learn. I continued taking piano lessons throughout my school days and became involved in choir in high school.

When I began college I decided to study business. I auditioned for choir and realized that my dream was to become a music educator. I graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. I studied piano, voice, clarinet, and music education. I had a lot of experience playing the piano and singing that I decided to learn the clarinet and join the concert band so I could have band experience. I was also involved in hand bell choir and continued to perform with the choir after I graduated. After graduating, I taught piano at various private eleme
ntary schools throughout San Diego. I also had the wonderful experience of being the pianist and vocal soloist at my church. I am a substitute teacher and have the opportunity to work with students from preschool to high school and am able to use my knowledge of each age group and school curriculum in teaching music.

"Great works are performed not by strength, but by perseverance" - Samuel Johnson

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are tailored to each individual student'€s needs. I think everyone is special and has their own unique way of learning and customized lessons should reflect that. I believe that music theory is important and I include that in lessons. For piano lessons I mainly use Alfred'€s piano books. In each lesson I will demonstrate the necessary skills in order for the students to feel comfortable in taking the music home to practice. For voice lessons I include vocalizations, vocal technique, and song study.

I want students to have fun with music. I am very patient and I think it'€s important to encourage and praise students. I hope to instill the desire to learn in each student.

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." - Eleanor Roosevelt

During my lessons, my student should expect to leave feeling confident and that he or she has learned something new. My students will always be making constant progress!

About Katie
I have been teaching young students piano for seven years. I have completed my education for a music education degree, and am the former president of the Cal State Piano Society. I have been playing piano for nineteen years and love every aspect of music. My goal is to pass my passion for music onto my students, and allow them to develop a deep appreciation and understanding for all genres.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a strong believer in making the learning process fun and enjoyable. I want my students to be motivated to learn and practice as much as possible. My teaching style consists of starting with the basics (technique, theory, and reading music) then graduating to style and phrasing. My students will always leave our lessons feeling accomplished and confident. Learning an instrument is hard work, but with enough effort a
nd commitment, anything is possible!

*** How Long of a Lesson? ***
For very young beginners, I recommend 15 minutes. For beginners, I recommend 30 minutes. For intermediate, we can do 30 to 45 to 60 minutes. For advanced, you would benefit from 45 to 60 minutes. If you are beginner and want to have a 45 or 60 minute lesson, each lesson will focus on any of these categories: technique, repertoire, theory, ear training, and listening.

***Cancellation Policy***
Please notify me at least ONE HOUR before the lesson if you need to cancel to avoid charges. I may or may not be able to reschedule, and I will allow up to one month for a makeup lesson.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Baldwin Upright Piano
Various Piano Books
Metronome
Internet access for resources

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect all music students to provide a piano and the required materials (i.e. metronome and specific music books)

Tutoring: Please provide the class work, assignments, and projects for the subjects that need tutoring (if possible).

*** Specialties ***
I believe that technique is very important when it comes to piano. I start with teaching the basic scales, hand positions, and good posture. Then I begin teaching music theory, in which the student learns how to read notes, rhythms, dynamics, etc. Once the student becomes proficient in reading and technique, I give them more difficult pieces in order to work on style, voicing, and phrasing.

I have been teaching piano since I graduated high school, and will continue to do so until I graduate with a music major in college. I teach out of plenty of different books, depending on age level and learning style. I teach from my own home, the music store in Redlands, and can even travel for lessons for a small fee. What I teach and the way I teach is dependent on the student, and what I believe will be useful for them moving forward. But, the most important aspect is fun!

About Dominic

I have a huge passion to help students stay interested and engaged, because I believe that if a student loves what they are doing, they WILL become great at it. I would love to cultivate that success! Students will be taught theory, technique, and performance skills. These skills are vital to a students growth, and will be a major focus in my lessons. They will also learn to play music that they enjoy, alongside practical repertoire. I teach beginning piano, violin, ukulele, and guitar lessons. My lessons will consist of adaptive teaching. Depending on age, I will approach teaching in a manner to instill the knowledge for learning music notation along with the ability to play the piano. Beginners: Ages from 7-12 years old will start with basic fundamentals of music. This will be active lessons with learning both music notation and the piano until the student can apply both skills together. Any ages higher above 12, will be approach with a similar method of teaching if they are beginners. Music selection for the students can range from any sort of genre depending on the availability of sheet music. This way it can be taught with the appliance of music theory while learning their musicality. Age difference comes with different types of music. Which I believe effects all of us. So the best music to teach the students, is through that connection. However Classical teaching will be focused heavily, because I believe it's the foundation to playing music.
