I teach piano in the same manner in which I teach every instrument. First I teach students the rudiments of the instrument. Also I teach them how to read and a bit of music theory. From that point I like to follow the students lead. They bring in songs that they would like to learn, or possibly how to play a certain style like Funk, or Blues, or how to approach a classical sonata. At every point I try to point out general aspects of music that need to be learned from the material that they choose.

About John
Hello,

Thanks so much for taking the time to inquire about studying music with me.

Music and studying music has always been a passionate experience for me. I have been so blessed with the teachers and fellow musicians in my life. You should realize that your study of music may start with me, but it will last your entire lifetime. I hope that all of your life you will have a rewarding relationship to music and the spirit of great sounds!

I have performed in great jazz clubs in New York, on Broadway, and performing arts centers across the country. I'm currently playing in many great performing ensembles. I have put out two CD's as a leader and played on multiple CD's for other artists.

It has been my pleasure to teach privately, as well as in the classroom for 15 years. I enjoy performing many different types of music. I pri
de myself on being very open minded in terms of musical taste. Never apologize for liking what you like! I bet there is something in that music which is great. I can't wait to learn something from the music you introduce to me.

I be glad to provide a full resume to anyone who requests it.

*** Lesson Details ***

My most important goal for each student is that they get to where they want to be musically.

I want the student to be able to play the way he or she wants to play. If you want to learn to play one song, that is great! If you want to learn to play one classical etude that is just as great! If you want to learn how to play in a salsa band, bravo! I treat the desires of my students as my curriculum. Each student will receive special prep time from me each week. I pride myself in taking the time and energy to prepare for each meeting. Every time you complete a lesson, it is my hope that you are walking away as a better musician.

In the beginning I hope to find what will musically interests you the most. Usually, you might have a goal that requires you to play on a higher level than you do presently. If that is true, we might take some time to figure out a road map to get you to that place. Along the way, I'm sure you and I will learn many new concepts and techniques that aid you in becoming the bassist/musician you want to be.

And rest assured, the teacher always learns from the student...this is the best part of teaching: learning from the student.

*** Studio Equipment ***

Studio: 3 electric basses, plenty of amps and chords, one acoustic bass, piano, ukulele, guitar, computer playback and recording.

*** Travel Equipment ***
As requested

*** Specialties ***
I have been lucky to play tons of different types of music. I believe I can give musicians and aspiring musicians a deep understanding of what is most important in many different styles of music. Music I have been lucky enough to study and play professionally: Jazz, Rock, Funk, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Blues, Classical, Pop.
I'm also a very good transcriber, so if there is a song you heard on the radio we can definitely play it! Ear training could be an area in which I could be of service to you as well.
I have many arranging and composing credits and I would be glad to help students in this area whenever requested.

Love my lessons

John is an amazing teacher all around. Very professional and good at getting me to understand things which may be a bit confusing. I am currently reading and playing between four books and I never thought it would be possible especially just after taking lessons for a year. Sometimes I feel a bit frustraited when I am not able to play certain pieces or when I dont understand a concept but John is great at breaking everything down and making it easier. I am now realizing how my piano skills can be utilizied in my other music projects. When I attend my lessons I am reminded why I love having them so much. With him as my instructor I can see my skills improving and I know I will only get better. I recommend piano lessons to everyone and if you are looking to have a great teacher John is your go to person !

For my beginning students I help get them acquainted with the piano and the music that they would like to study.
For my more advanced students I focus primarily on improvisational concepts and playing in group settings.
As with all of my students I have a strong emphasis on developing their ears and follow a sound-before-symbol approach.

About Isaac
I am a musician, composer, and educator with backgrounds in both jazz and classical studies. I have a Bachelors of Music from New England Conservatory and a Masters of Music at Berklee College of Music's Global Jazz Institute. I am regularly performing in a wide variety of settings from jazz to avant-garde to hip hop and anything in between. Some of my past teachers include Susan Hagen, Dave Holland, John Patitucci, Cecil McBee, Danilo Perez, Frank Carlberg, and Jason Moran among others. I have remained as passionate about my teaching as I am about my art and constantly strive to do both to the best of my ability.

Isaac is an excellent teacher and is highly recommended. His method is not centered on drills, music reading or repetition, but rather on getting an understanding of how the notes, chords work together. In so doing, the student gets a great understanding of theory and it opens the door to improvisation. In addition he's very patient with folks such as myself who don't come to class with a deep understanding of music theory.

My strenths are helping students feel accomplished playing by ear, which includes being more expressive and confident using chord charts. I also help students be more creative, understand chords and chord groups, keys, scales, excersizes, and more. I've been teaching piano for about 10 years and have seen countless students achieve their goals and move on with using their skills in bands, solo, church, etc.

About Jacob
My name is Jacob and I've been playing music ever since I was about 12. I fell in love with it and have played music everyday for hours ever since. It's a huge privilege to teach others the same passion. Over 6 years ago I quit my full time job working with troubled youth to teach music full time at my studio, Inside Out Studio. We now have over 200 happy students and 13 teachers. I have a few available times during the day that I'd like to pick up a few more students. We are an award winning studio for our teaching and our students are often the same. I personally teach acoustic and electric guitar, bass, keys/piano, and mandolin. I love teaching all ages, including adults. Thanks for your interest and let me know if you have any questions.

I can help teach jazz piano, classical, contemporary and improvisation.

About Tonya
Hi, there! My name is Antonina and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons for over 10 years and although I help foster technically advanced students, I mostly pride myself on the fact that I help students fall into a lifelong love with music! Although with time students tend to lose their interest due to the self-discipline required to succeed at playing an instrument, I make sure to offer a fresh, inspirational, and engaging approach to my lessons. I introduce many different styles, performance skills, composition, and most importantly the ability for self-expression through music. I have been playing, teaching, and performing my entire life and have a huge passion to share the gift of music!

All students learn differently so I focus on catering each lesson to the student's goals. I want the student to have fun, feel comfortable, and also be productive in our lessons. Students can expect to learn the foundations of piano including scales and key signatures, while also learning new songs that they want to be able to play. Ultimately, my goal is to have students develop their love for music.

About Sophie
Sophie has been teaching piano lessons both privately and in a group setting since the summer of 2009. She is available to teach you either online, or at your home.

Sophie received her Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Composition from the Manhattan School of Music in 2012, with a minor in Piano. Sophie is currently pursuing a career as a singer-songwriter.

Sophie looks forward to helping you reach your musical goals and understands that the approach to teaching is different for every student. With her classical background as well as jazz influences, Sophie looks forward to working hard with you while having fun. Hi :)
I am a professional singer and piano player.
I have a band called Viva Vox and we are very popular in the whole Europe.
Beside that I am a composer, MTV songwriter, violin player and I have a bachelor degree in Music Production.

Whether you are a beginner or a professional pianist my Piano Lessons are far from standard ones, because playing piano is so much more than just playing :)

Beside learning the basic steps we will explore the genre that you are most comfortable with, we will learn how to play in front of the audience and how to master the stage fright, how to compose your own song that you will be so proud of and also how to sing (in case you don't know how to sing) because piano and singing always goes together :)

I am singing and playing in front of 40 thousand people so let me pass on this amazing experience to you :)

p.s: Always believe in yourself and just follow your dreams.

If you are looking for professional musician for piano lessons, we are the perfect match!

I am a professional pianist with substantial experience in teaching piano to students of different ages. I hold two Master's Degrees in Piano Performance: the first from Kharkiv National University of Arts in Ukraine and the second from Anton Rubinstein International Music Academy in Germany.

I previously performed as a solo pianist, played chamber music, and taught at a private music academy in Germany.

As an experienced piano teacher, I would say that it is always important to have a classical background no matter what kind/style of music you prefer to play (although it is not necessary to focus exclusively on the classics). No matter what your goals are, improving technique and understanding harmony and theory will help you succeed.

It is truly a rare occurrence that an individual possessing such unparalleled talent would be willing to teach all levels. Nevertheless, with humility and graciousness her unending love of music makes her the ABSOLUTE BEST instructor for those seeking to master the craft. This is NOT a teacher/student trying to pay her way through school. She is a tested and experienced professional fully capable of sharing her artistry and teaching all, regardless of skill level.
