Music has been my passion since starting lessons age 7 and training for years in performance, composition and theory, culminating in a masters degree from The Royal Academy of Music in London, England. Learning to read music well with enjoyment, musicality and strong technique is my main focus. I cover music from different periods in history, including music being composed today. I work with children age 5 to adults with all levels of experience. I have taught children in schools and privately in my home studio where I have an upright acoustic Schulze Pollmann (German/Italian) piano and a Yamaha keyboard with weighted keys. Positive reinforcement is my teaching philosophy and each lesson is tailored to the students needs and goals. Check out my availability and let’s get started!

I'm happy to have learned so much from Jimi in my first session.
He takes you very siriuly and is ready to accommodate according to your level.

Very disappointed! He was more interested in telling me I needed a producer (him) instead of producing my own music. Continued to discuss reasons I should attend college in person and the degree I should attain even though I told him I wanted to stick with the voice lessons. He did not listen to anything and I was very frustrated by the entire process the two weeks I had him. I am hesitant to try someone else but I have been told it will be a better experience!

I teach students of all levels. Whatever experience you have, we will work with. I believe that it is important to learn how to play by ear as well as read written music. Understanding both approaches, you will be able to play almost any kind of music in a solo as well as a group setting. Depending on your experience, I can find suitable projects that will help you to develop your skills.

About Zachary

I am a trained jazz pianist but I love many different styles of music. I grew up in the Portland, OR area, did my undergrad studies in Utah, and moved to Arizona to do my masters degree at ASU. I am now finishing up a PhD in musicology at ASU though I am living in New Orleans, Louisiana. I have pla

Wow! Wow! Wow! This was truly money and time well spent. I went into this lesson with no expectations, rather just with the hope of connecting well with a piano instructor that was not only well versed but could ease me into being a student. Paul is a rare treasure. He exceeded all my hopes of what I hoped to gain from my lessons. I would highly recommend him for any piano student. If you're looking to be challenged, and learn any genre of music,, don't wait...book your lessons with Paul. Thank you Paul. I'm looking forward to growing as a student.

Paul has been very patient and wonderful with my 6 year old son who has just started lessons.
Lorenzo S.
My first lesson was great. Mr. Paul was very patient and judged my skill level before making a lesson plan. Initially I was nervous, because I have never taken lessons before, but that quickly went away. I can definitely tell that he knows his stuff when it comes to teaching. He a great teacher and conversationalist.

I am a professional pianist with a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Juilliard School, and currently working on my Doctoral of Musical Arts at Manhattan School of Music. I have worked with several world-renowned pianists including Robert McDonald, Horacio Gutierrez, and Haesun Paik. Their influence not only helped me develop as a pianist but also taught me how to teach and showed me the impact of truly masterful teacher can have on their students.

I serve as a piano faculty member at Bronx Conservatory of Music and Lindeblad School of Music, in addition to teaching private students. I have taught students at varying levels of experience and from varying backgrounds, ranging from 4-year-old to adult. Some of them had their very first piano lesson with me and others are promising concert pianists at Juilliard pre-college.

I have been immersed in music schools and music training my entire life, and through the years I have learned what teaching methods are effective and which ...

I like that Ms. Julie can be both kind and challenging. My son always comes out of his lesson sounding better and excited to learn more, which for me as a parent is the most I can hope for. I have also heard her play and wow - she is the real deal! I'm so glad we found her, and would definitely recommend her to anyone!

"Lana is an amazing piano teacher! She started teaching our kids when they were very young until they graduated from eighth grade. They are in high school now and no longer take lessons, but they still sit down at the piano to play their repertoire and some new songs. Lana is a professional; she was always prompt for lessons and was very flexible as the kids became busier with school activities and sports. This was important because there never was a point where my kids would have to choose between sports and piano. We loved Lana's patience with the kids, her positive attitude and passion for music and are most grateful for all the years she graced our home to teach our kids a love for piano and music. Lana pushed the kids to perform at higher levels each year. It's still fun to see people's jaws drop when my hockey-playing son sits down at a piano and plays an amazingly difficult piece. Thank you, Lana!"

She is not only an amazing teacher but overall she is such a patient kind hearted person who has been a blessing for us all while giving in home piano lessons to our twin 5 year old boys. Kelly has helped instil a respect and appreciation of music while encouraging both of our boys to play. She is very thourough and always keeps us aware of the progress.
Both of my kids run to the piano and practice all on their own, this for me is priceless! and it's all thanks to Kelly."

How to Transition from Classical Pianist to Jazz Pianist
