I have been playing music since I was 3 years old and have been teaching for the last 5 years. I set up every lesson plan to match what the student would like to learn as well as making sure to meet the parents goals and expectations. I work with all ages and all levels. I also work very well with those that have special needs such as Autism. Every lesson is engaging and exciting, it is never a dull moment.

About April

I picked up music when I was very young and have never looked back. I started with the piano and then moved on to the violin, of which I competed regularly in up until high school. In high school I switched the viola and found it to me even more amazing. During high school I competed again in music

I began playing piano at 18 years old as a music major at Macomb Community College. I think I was the only one who was thrilled to be playing piano. I quickly advanced through the 3 group classes and then private lessons. I love teaching piano to students of all levels and all ages.

I teach all levels of piano. I currently use the Alfred books for the first 3 levels of books and then we move to the Snell piano repertoire books for the following levels. I also have many fun solo books for students.

Heather is a great teacher; she is able to gauge ability and keeps the lessons varied and interesting, always pushing you just at the edge, beyond what you thought you were capable of. Friendly, amiable, and laidback in style, she makes learning in a comfortable atmosphere fun. You can tell she has a real passion for music and teaching, and results after just a few lessons proves she knows what she is doing.

I am a beginning singer, my only prior experience was singing with the congregation in church, not the choir.
Quinn
She's really nice, and makes warm-ups before starting the lesson for your voice range. The variety of songs you can sing is pretty big, you want to sing in Italian? There's plenty! Want to sing in Latin? I'm pretty sure there's a few! There are songs from various musicals, too. All in all, she's a pretty great teacher.

I teach beginning piano students the basics of music theory and of good technique. I help them to understand the patterns in the music and improve their reading fluency. We also spend some time discussing the lives and composition styles of different composers. I am comfortable teaching students of all ages and adjust my lessons to fit a student's developmental level and learning style.

Learn your favorite songs! I like to start with basic note reading and theory, then playing, and go from there, but I will always adjust according to the student's level and what they want to play. Great with pop music and classical, and basic jazz.

Andy has been so fantastic with my daughter. Not only does he teach her the fundamentals of piano, he also incorporates teaching her more modern songs from bands she likes as well as songs she has written herself. He encourages her to always be creative and records her playing and singing the song, with his accompaniment, for her to listen to. She has been learning with Andy for a few years now and every lesson is new and different. We couldn't recommend him enough

Andy always manages to motivate my daughter and get her to enjoy playing her viola, which is no mean feet! She looks forward to the lessons and has improved greatly over the last couple of years.

"I highly recommend Miss Melody as a piano and voice teacher for young children. She is very well respected. Her passion in teaching music is shown through her enthusiasm and patient approach. She has developed a program and teaching techniques that are always age and skill level appropriate. She encourages her students throughout the lesson, providing just the right amount of urging to keep trying and not give up. Her goal is to let the student enjoy and appreciate the art of playing and singing. My daughter has taken both the piano and voice lessons for 2 years and our family has joined 3 music recitals, all professionally done and very well prepared. As she moves to DC, it is my great pleasure to recommend Miss Melody and I am so happy to tell you what a wonderful, caring and talented teacher she is that you won't be disappointed. Your children will look forward to their time with her. You sure will be learning from one of the best!"
