Piano Lessons in Chestnutridge. Amazing Teachers.

Beginning classical and/or contemporary* piano (with focus on form to avoid wrist injury) for children learning for the first time or singers who'd like to accompany themselves.

*Basic music theory will also be covered in covered in contemporary styles.

As a teacher, I strive to help my students develop a mindful and musical ear by stressing a genuine appreciation for music beyond the mechanics of piano instruction. For advanced students, I challenge them with an increasingly more technical and demanding repertoire. For the past several years, I sought and created opportunities for my students to perform in public and build their confidence, such as music competitions and local concerts.

* I will consider 30 minute at home lesson.

I welcome piano students of all ages and levels of experience. I don't have a set curriculum or required method book, as I feel that it's important to tailor lessons to the individual student. I work with my students to learn how to read music and feel it's important to include theory and ear training to have a more complete understanding of how and why we do what we do as we're playing. I specialize in classical music, but am happy to work on music from other genres such as rock, pop, and Broadway, or others. I feel this allows my students to be fully engaged at their lessons when the music we're working on is something that interests them.

With over 10 years of experience teaching music privately as well as in a classroom environment, Joseph is skilled at facilitating students with various learning styles and abilities. He is trained in classical piano and has achieved an ATCL degree in Piano from Trinity College, London.

I have been teaching private piano, violin, guitar, and ukulele lessons for ten years. I won competitions, hundreds of dollars, and a scholarship through the Desert Valley Music Teacher Association (DVMTA). I have written and self-published two piano books with more in the works. I have worked on a Music Theory degree at MCC and plan to transfer to ASU to finish my bachelor's. I help students find the fun in music again with many involved music games and incentive programs. I instill a love and confidence in students of composing their own music from a young age.
