Phillip teaches any level from ages 4-100. Anyone can learn at any age.
These lesson will, in a methodical way, teach you the skills you need to play piano. The only thing keeping you from reaching your potential is starting lessons. Lessons are geared to your speed of learning and needs.

About Phillip
I am a pianist and singer who started learning to play the piano at age 6, and I love teaching all students of all experience levels. Growing up I competed and placed highly in many competitions including playing with the Symphony Orchestra in my home town of Spartanburg, SC after winning it's concerto competition at the age of 17. In college I took piano from Dr. Charles Fugo at the University of South Carolina and also started taking voice lessons from Tonya Currier and Walter Cuttino. While still in college I worked with The South Carolina Opera company for a season as a member of the ensemble and as Chorus Master.
Professionally, I have worked with different theater and opera companies as a lead actor and as a musician. I have also worked in many different church positions as a musician and singer.
I have many years of teaching ex
perience with piano at all experience levels.

*** Lesson Details ***
I have experience teaching since 1995 while I was still in college. I primarily use Alfred and "Faber & Faber" piano methods for beginners. I teach how to read music, understand the theory behind the music, and the technique needed in a patient atmosphere at the pace of the student. I also teach you how the piano works and the different types of pianos as well as the history of keyboards used for different classical music. The lessons are geared toward the goals of the student no matter what level is desired.
In teaching singing, I will teach you the basics necessary to create a healthy and relaxed sound through technique. With experience singing music ranging from classical to contemporary church music to musical theater, I can teach you how to use the voice in a way that will promote a long time of singing without adding stress to the voice. I will work with any style of music and will give you the technique and confidence needed to become a better singer.

*** Studio Equipment ***
In my home studio is a piano and books with big windows to look out. Pianos are an upright piano and an Alesis Synthesiser. Seating is available for parents as well.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to have a piano or an electric keyboard at home for piano lessons. For voice lessons a keyboard is not required but is helpful.

*** Specialties ***
I primarily teach piano in a classical style using either "Faber & Faber" or Alfred Methods for piano lessons.
For voice, I teach all my students to sing in a way that will be the most beneficial to the health of their voice. Doing this is helpful to all styles of singing.

You can be playing along with your favorite songs within two lessons! Whether you want to learn how to read music or just play along with your radio, lessons are catered to your goals so that you get the results you want fast.

About Eric
Music isn't just a career choice: it is a way of life. I have been playing music since I was a toddler; everything I have learned about life has been through music. I believe that self-expression is important to being confident with yourself. I look forward to sharing my passion for music and teaching with any students who are ready to learn!

I'm an accomplished composer and sound engineer with music featured on CBS, ABC, E!, Bravo, and other networks. I also write music for film & gaming. I am fluent in a range of professional software programs which includes Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Amadeus Pro, Cubase, and MaxMSP.

I have over a decade of performance experience and have played along the East Coast with several bands. Some venues I have performed at recently include The Plaza Theatre in Orlando; Backbooth in Downt
own Orlando; The Crowbar in Tampa; The Bandshell and The Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach. I am a versatile musician who primarily performs and instructs on Drums, Bass, and Guitar (acoustic and electric). I teach nearly all styles of music, including classical, jazz, funk, and rock. I have graduated from Stetson University with degrees in Digital Arts, Music, and Business.

I feel that nothing is impossible. Great results aren't given--they are earned, and I know how to set goals to reach those results. This is a virtue I like to share with students. My dedication to music has helped me accomplish much at a young age.

*** Lesson Details ***
All lessons accommodate the unique needs of the student. My lessons don't merely teach you musical theories: I will teach you how to express yourself through your instrument as you learn those theories. You will gain technical knowledge and the tools to experience your musical potential. Lessons with me are the perfect extra-curricular activity for your child, or a great experience for you. A large part of my curriculum is more than learning how to play a few cover songs. The lessons are also about becoming more confident with yourself as a person and developing character along the way. You will learn about the discipline, patience, and dedication that it takes to stand out among professionals, not just as a musician, but as a strong individual. Music is a part of that. What you play becomes an extension of yourself. Young or old, everyone has something to share with the world through music.

In a given lesson, you can expect half of it to be about the basics of your instrument and the literature for reading music. The other half is about how you can apply these principles in a unique way that relates to yourself. However, the lesson is all about the student. If the student wants to learn in different ways that is never a problem. All I ask is that you're eager to learn! Everybody has different musical tastes and different learning styles. That is what makes every musician unique and every lesson exciting.

I enjoy teaching people of all ages 5 and up and have experience teaching groups or individuals. From beginner or experienced, hobbyist or professional, every person has a place in the wonderful world of music!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Separate studio: computer, recording gear, mics, amps, keyboard, guitars, bass, drum kit

*** Travel Equipment ***
When traveling to their house I ask students to provide their necessary performance materials, i.e. drumset, guitar and amp, essential books, etc. I always provide all necessary teaching equipment, i.e. computer, additional guitars.

*** Specialties ***
Drums- Funk, Jazz, Classic Rock, Metal, Punk, Blues, Hip-Hop

Eric is the real deal as a guitar teacher. I personally play the guitar myself, but as any parent knows when it comes to teaching your own child there is going to be some resistance no matter what! Lol. Eric is very well educated in music and has the rapport to teach beginners as well as advanced students. My son looks forward to his time with Eric and considers him a friend as well! In closing, if your looking for an instructor that has a solid music background that can channel that knowledge into your child or self, look no further!

Sophia was so kind and helpful. I wanted to get my 7 year old Josh involved in music and figured piano would be a good instrument to learn the basics on, especially since I already have a keyboard at home. Sophia arrived for his first lesson on time and was very polite. I sat in on the lesson and Josh was comfortable for usually being shy around girls. Sophia introduced him to basic technique and showed him some of the cool things a pianist can do. She even asked him what he liked to listen to and what he would want to play in the future, giving him a personal reason to practice. I hope he continues as long time and Sophia definitely makes that seem like a possibility. I cannot recommend her enough!!

I have been teaching piano for 40 years. My teaching style is specially geared to each individual student of any age. I keep the lessons interesting and appropriate to the ability of the student. Lessons include learning correct use of posture, fingers, hands, learning to read notes, use of timing, scales, chords, discipline of practice, and the pleasure of playing the piano. Teaching piano and watching a student progress has been a passion of mine for a very long time.

About Gail
Hello to all potential students. I have been teaching piano for 42 years. This has been a truly rewarding experience for me over the years. I studied piano beginning at eight years, old enjoying many different types of music. I excelled because of my dedication and love of piano. I did go to college for music and have been teaching piano ever since.

I enjoy all types of students from beginners to intermediate, trying to keep the lessons interesting and designed for each individual students' need. For beginners, we will learn how to read notes, keep time/rhythm, use of positioning and correct use of posture, and the many facets of reading and loving music. It is also important to learn the discipline of practice and learn the love of playing this beautiful instrument. For students who have some knowledge of music and/or piano
, we will find where you are at and go on from there.

I continue my love of music by accompanying for a choral group for 40 years and directing/designing musical shows. Music is a wonderful gift and piano is a great choice.

If you are looking for a knowledgeable, experienced, and (very) patient piano teacher, look no further. As an adult learner....with absolutely NO piano playing experience...I can honestly say that Gail started from where I was, and we gradually moved forward from there. Lessons are always fun, and light-hearted, in a serious kind of way.

Honestly...if I can get from, "Which one is middle C?" to Chopin, with Gail as my piano teacher, she must be good (did I mention VERY patient?).

About Katie
I love to inspire students to practice, that is where the real magic happens. I love to see them not only set goals for themselves but reach them. I am willing to do whatever it takes to see them succeed. I love working with people and encouraging them. I have been a horn player since August 2007. I am studying french horn at Grand Valley State University but am also efficient in euphonium, piano, music theory, aural (reading rhythms and reciting them aloud), and trumpet. I have been in marching band for 6 years on mellophone so I can also help with teaching marching techniques and mellophone playing since it is very different from french horn.

I enjoy sharing the joys of music! I start with beginners by combining reading, song selection and music theory right from the beginning. A strong basis in theory makes learning easier, and therefore more fun. I enjoy what I do, and I incorporate my enthusiasm into each lesson. I'm a very patient, easy going person: I do not believe in hard discipline, but at the same time I require that you do your "homework" and come prepared to each lesson. I involve formulas such as the whole whole half, whole whole whole half method when teaching major scales. I use that in combination with reading to make it easier for the student to grasp the concept of reading and understanding musical notation. I also employ my own techniques of combining books with my own knowledge, which I tailor to each student. Everyone is different and what works for some may not work as well for others. That is why I teach a curriculum tailor made floor each student, so that everyone can find their string and ...

I have to say, I was very nervous about beginning lessons at my age. I had watched my children take music as an elective in school. They were only taught a few songs and a tiny bit of sheet music. When I contacted Alan, he was very precise about the equipment I would start with. I became more interested in moving forward with lessons knowing that he would even help me pick out my first keyboard for at home so I could take my materials home to practice.
My first lesson with Alan was wonderful! He was easy going dispite my lack of knowledge and was patient with me even when my fingers fumbled. I was having trouble getting my fingers to match what I was reading. Even though I probably was a hard first time student, he never got frustrated or disappointed with my progression. I definitely recommend an hour or more if you are a beginner as the time passes very quickly.
By my fourth or fifth lesson, I couldn't believe that I was playing my first short song and learning to read the music on sheet with ease. I practiced at home with the keyboard that Alan recommended for me (was an amazing fit, and affordable) along with the book he had me working in, a few hours during the week in between lessons. My progression surprised myself and even my kids! They were impressed with the fact that even I could now play now after only a few lessons. They had thought me a lost cause when it comes to music, as they tried to have me help and learn with them for school. After thier graduation from middle school to high school this year, two of the three decided they wanted to learn too. Sience I already had the keyboard, why not?
I continued my lessons, and they started theirs. Both of them loved it, and told me this kind of "hands on" teaching was what was missing in their school. You can't just give them an instrument and a book and say play. Soon we were taking trips together to see Alan for lessons. They are doing wonderful, as am I. My son even wants to learn "production" when he gets better at regular lessons. We each have our own books, different songs, and I even purchased another keyboard for the kids! This time a "cooler" one with effects that they love! They actually fight over the keyboard, and I have NEVER seen them fight over "homework".
So Alan, to say the least was one of the best teachers I have ever met. He was great with me and at first, my fumbling fingers, and was also "cool" enough for my kids that are at the age of beginning high school, and pretty much dislike everything. It has also created an activity for us to even do together, dispite our music choice gap!
I definitely recommend Alan and his skills that seem to never end in the music world. His patience, ability, teaching method, and diversity are an A++. Even if you are teetering on the edge of taking lessons yourself, or mabye nervous about your childs interest or skill, take it from me, contact Alan! He's the best!
Alan, if you can read this, thank-you so much for teaching us all, and see you next week!

Alan teaches my 17 yr old daughter. She has taken from him since she was 12. She had 2 teachers before him, & really learned nothing of any significance... Alan used his own methods, combined with books, & he taught her a lot of theory, & showed her how it incorporated into each piece of music! Snowing someone how something relates really helps the brain make the connection, & her progress soared! At 12, she was basically playing beginner songs, with basic chords in the left hand & very simple melodies. Now, she's playing Beethoven, Diabelli Sonatas, even a Mozart piece or two. He often spends extra time with her after the lesson time has expired, & she often wants to stay after just to get a passage right. He also has helped her with her French horn playing, & with her marching & symphonic band pieces! I can't say enough good about Alan. He's been such a big part of her life, especially in those teen years, where kids either really get along with a teacher or they just shit down! She even makes him Christmas cards! I highly recommend Alan for anyone who wants a very kind, personable teacher who can really relate & get on a level with the student, which has helped her blossom as a musician, & it's even helped her confidence! I just wanted to post this, as I know Alan is in need of more students, & I know he is a fantastic teacher.

I can help provide you with the basic building blocks of the Piano. I will teach you everything from how to name simple chords, name the individual note names of the piano keys to scales, cadences, and arpeggios, all while learning some great piano pieces.

About Jose
Hi! My name is Jose and I'm currently a college student studying musical composition with my main instrument being the Saxophone, an instrument I have been playing for the last 7 years. I plan to help students understand either the Saxophone and Piano as not just instruments, but as tools to express emotion.
