I've been teaching piano lessons for almost 10 years and I offer weekly private lessons to beginner, and intermediate students from age 4 through high school. The piano lesson include a balance of theory, ear training, sight reading and repertoire appropriate to the student's level and musical ability.
So get ready to make some music! I'll make sure that each lesson will challenge your level of concentration and ambidexterity. Using both hands together, we'll slowly begin to play a series of simple, but melodic tunes with the right hand playing the lead, and the left hand adding harmony.

About Khanh-Vi
Khanh-Vi N. as a young child, sought music and arts as a way of expression, relaxation, and how she spent most of her free time - whether it was playing the piano; listening to classics from Beethoven to the Carpenters, or contemporary/pop.

During her studies in Music Education at Virginia Commonwealth University, she has expanded her horizons to jazz music, and found another love in music in Nina Simone. Khanh-Vi N. believes that all music is beautiful, and as Les Baxter says, "Any good music must be an innovation."

Khanh-Vi's approach to teaching is to be open to endless possibilities from her students. Every person has different levels of skill, ability, and emotions, thus there should never be a benchmark in learning for music education. She is Classically trained; has studied and teaches Suzuki Method, as well. Khanh-Vi lo
ves to introduce and make impressions on her students with great works of Classical composers, but she strongly supports other musical directions.

Ms. Khanh-Vi N is a great teacher for my daughter Abigail. She motivates my daughter and find fun and quick way to help her understand the lesson. Abby took a piano class for couple of month with another teacher prior to this class and up hating piano. She did not want to go back to it at all and I almost forced her to start this class hoping she will have different experience this time around and she actually did. Now she can not wait until Monday comes and practice at home willingly. I see her progress in just one month and it is so amazing how quick she is catching up. I am very pleased with her improvement. Next year I am planning to register my younger daughter as well

About Kristin
I began playing at 4 years old. I loved classical music and taught myself by listening till I was 6 and started formal lessons. I continued lessons throughout high school with a Julliard graduate. During my senior year of high school, I had the amazing experience of playing in Weill Hall, located in the famous Carnege Hall, as part of the young artist showcase.
While attending Vassar College, I continued to take private lessons with another Julliard graduate, as well as taking classes in theory.
I am currently attending George Mason University in pursuit of a second B.A in music. I hope to apply concepts I learn in my classes to my lessons with my private students!

I use the Faber method books for children including the Lesson, Theory & Performance books which all work together to introduce and reinforce musical concepts. I follow the student's interest is specific genres of classical, jazz, blues or pop and add pieces from those genres that students will find interesting and exciting.

For teens & adults, I generally use an all-in-one method book and then allow students to choose what pieces they'd like to work on, or suggest pieces based on the style of music that student prefers

For younger children just starting out, I implement early childhood techniques to include creative movement and percussion instruments. These enhance and reinforce the musical elements we are working on in piano. They also extend the attention span and infuse the lesson with a sense of action and fun.

About Rachel

I am far from your traditional pain teacher, which is why I have become so successful at teaching piano. I am passionate about piano, therefore my students are too. I introduce variety and center my learning methods to every individual student's skill. Sometimes, I will add different instruments to the lesson to help spice up the experience. If my students have genuine interest in music and practice as advised, then I will take them a long way very quickly. I currently have 28 music students and most of my students actually enjoy practicing, which surprises many parents.
My piano lessons are 60 minutes that consist of a scale/chord warm-up, note reading, and listening exercises to help develop the ear. I teach all ages and I can't pick which one I enjoy most because I have fun with them all!

About Nicole
I currently have 28 piano/music students that I teach weekly. Both the students and I enjoy the piano lessons very much, and I am looking to teach it full-time. I have a natural way of communicating and teaching music and also make the experience very unique as I incorporate my own listening exercises, piano games, and reading techniques that help speed up the skill of playing piano. Children learn quickly with me and the parents have been the best with recommending me to their family and/or neighbors and becoming piano students themselves! Thank you for that! Piano is fun, therapeutic, and academic.
Every year I have a music recital, where my students perform pieces that they have been working on. Most times, my students perform on their own, but we also have groups that perform together. This is a very special time for all of us. When
you become my student, you join a music community.

Some of my music history include:
A general music reading course in college
I also have 7 plus years in piano lessons, 2 years in violin, and 3 plus years in choir, voice, and sight reading. I also taught myself how to play guitar as a teenager.

For Health and Fitness:
I've been a personal trainer and I have a Master of Science in Nutrition and Physical Activity. There are key specifics with trying to body build or weight loss that involve both exercise and eating habits. With my experience in training, I know I can help anyone get to their max potential in their goals. I love teaching health and breaking down the science so my students understand how the body works.

Currently, I teach 7 courses throughout the semester as a PE college professor. I love my work and love sharing my passion for health to the next generation. I'm a very passionate person and love to motivate youth into finding and making their dreams a reality.

Kathryn has the knowledge and the patience to teach people voice and music with ease.

Upon receiving instruction on vocal health and properly navigating through my passagio, my voice has now improved in endurance, flexibility, and resonance.

Kathryn also polished my knowledge in music theory so that I may perform the Aria's I currently sing with more accuracy to the composers intent.

She is patient, passionate, and willing to go the extra mile to be able to guarantee the success of each of her students in their musical endeavors. Rarely have I found a teacher willing to take the time to make sure that everything I learned is done to how I learn as a student.

I cherish the time I spend with Kathryn and am confident now in my abilities as a performer and as a musician to be successful in the professional world. 11/10 would go again.

Andrew is a gifted teacher who prides himself on making the student feel comfortable, no matter their level of experience or ability. This approach has worked successfully for many of his students, allowing them to be more open and understanding of some of the many concepts introduced and practiced while learning the piano.

Andrew is also very adaptable, understanding that each student is different, responding to unique learning styles and approaches that suits them better than others. But one thing remains the same, and that is the ability to enjoy the work as well as feel clear and measurable progress. This is any student's ultimate goal, and Andrew has a proven track record of success when it comes to learning the instrument.

Andrew will work with you to establish clear goals, if you don't already possess them, and be a steady and comforting guide for you on your journey - no matter how far you intend to go.

About Andrew
Andrew started playing piano at the tender age of 3. His mom wanted him to spend his endless energy on something artistic so she started him on piano lessons. Very early on it was clear Andrew had a natural, unique ability to connect with the piano. He played in school bands throughout grade school and began performing around DC in high school. While Andrew also plays guitar, drums, and bass, the piano has remained his first love and primary instrument.

At the age of 17 Andrew left DC and started college at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City. Andrew studied Jazz Piano but also led big bands, wrote and arranged music, produced and engineered. Shifting from Jazz to Rock in his early 20s, Andrew joined the band Ambulance LTD with which he played all over NYC and the US as well as internationally.

Upon returni
ng to New York from a hectic performance schedule, Andrew began assisting younger students at The New York Piano Academy—helping them to develop their playing skills, as well as their composing and arranging pursuits. The experience exposed his innate ability to build students’ talents through patience and encouragement, consistently taking them farther than they thought they could go. Andrew discovered his passion for teaching and began working with students of all ages, from 3 year-old children to seniors. As a teacher, Andrew focuses on making learning enjoyable while teaching all types of music—pop, rock, jazz, classical, and even Broadway. He tailors his programs to the students and teaches them not only how to play, but also how to hear, enjoy and love music.

Andrew is a gifted teacher and musician. I was beyond 50 when I started lessons with him, sure there was no way I could actually learn to play the piano. His patience, kindness and expertise overcame my fears and deficit of innate talent. I love his lessons and I enjoy practicing and I can actually play a few tunes!!!
