Profile
I've been teaching piano for over 13 years. I use Alfred's Premier Piano Courses levels 1 - 6 for children. For adults I use Alfred's Lesson Book 1 - 3. My teaching goals for all my students are to enable them to read and make music so that they could experience the joy of journeying in the realm of musical sounds.
My philosophy in teaching piano is very much like learning to drive a car. Once a person learns the mechanism of driving so many possibilities open for the person to enjoy trips to many places that bring pleasures that destiny could offer. In some ways, playing the piano is very much like learning to drive a car. Once the mechanism of making music is mastered, the possibilities of making journeys of musical sound is endless.

Heather is patient and kind. She brings both technical and people skills to our practice sessions. If one of my family members or close friends asked me recommend a piano teacher, with no hesitation, I would enthusiastically reccomend Heather.

Heather was wonderful in getting me back into the piano! As an older student I was apprehensive at first, but she was very positive and made me very comfortable. She was very helpful and brought me a long way in a short period of time.

What I enjoy most about the piano is=

The opportunity to show my students what sounds and ideas they can create from the piano; sounds that are uniquely their own; sounds that have meaning and purpose and are full of their own emotions. That is the most rewarding part of teaching.

Also= As a musician who takes great care of his body with a wide range of physical activities and has studied the human body thoroughly, I'm very adamant that piano playing requires tremendous physical dexterity and bodily control, not just knowledge of the music alone.

Point= My overall approach to piano lessons simply put is: How do we form the closest bond between "Us" and the "Instrument"?

So how do we achieve this.

I do this by training the student's hands & body to move in the way they were designed by nature to move.

I fully understand music theory, chords, scales, and rhythm and I will teach you everything I know about them. Point= So does every cookie-cutter piano teacher.

If you are looking for professional musician for piano lessons, we are the perfect match!

I am a professional pianist with substantial experience in teaching piano to students of different ages. I hold two Master's Degrees in Piano Performance: the first from Kharkiv National University of Arts in Ukraine and the second from Anton Rubinstein International Music Academy in Germany.

I previously performed as a solo pianist, played chamber music, and taught at a private music academy in Germany.

As an experienced piano teacher, I would say that it is always important to have a classical background no matter what kind/style of music you prefer to play (although it is not necessary to focus exclusively on the classics). No matter what your goals are, improving technique and understanding harmony and theory will help you succeed.

I strive to make the learning process interesting and enjoyable. I have been playing piano for over 20 years, and I strive to share my knowledge and ...

"Nathan was great. My son didn't want to take piano lessons at first, but had completely changed his mind by the end of his first lesson. He said Nathan was "so cool" and he showed me all the things he learned in his first 30 minutes. We can't wait to continue his lessons."

"Great for adult students leading hectic lives.

I work very long, irregular hours at an extremely stressful job so I picked up piano lessons as a stress-management mechanism. To be clear, I had played for over 8 years before I stopped in college. So, my primary goal was to regain enough skill to be able to learn pieces quickly and play them for leisure.

Troy has been very patient, flexible, and supportive. Importantly, he is able to tailor each week's lesson to his students' needs. Some weeks I come in and I've had time to practice. But on other weeks, where I come in during a break at work having not even SEEN a piano all week, we work on sight reading and technique. Even if you haven't practiced, he makes each lesson worthwhile.

And my sight reading has improved dramatically!"

Alicia is an excellent teacher! Her welcoming and amiable personality makes it a joy to work with her. She develops well-coordinated lesson plans appropriate for my skill level and is very effective at identifying and helping me improve my weaknesses. She is very encouraging and extremely patient with me. I started as a complete beginner and I'm astonished with the progress I have made with her help. I recommend her wholeheartedly!"

"Piano lessons for 2 young active boys

Tim is an extremely patient, calm and professional piano teacher. He has been teaching my 5 and 7 year old boys for 8 months now. They are not easy students- one is a total wiggle worm and the other has a speech/language delay. He handles the situation beautifully. The best part is that the boys are learning properly from the very basics- sitting at the piano, hand positioning, rhythm, reading music, and actually playing. We're using Alfred's basic course starting from pre-reading and beginner. HIghly recommend for a low-stress music teacher."

"Amazing teacher, my kids LOVE their lessons with Dan.

My children have been taking lessons with Dan now for just over a month, and they are loving it! My 7 year old son is doing Guitar, and he has learned to tune his own guitar and is able to play simple songs with 4 basic chords. My daughter who is 5 is taking Piano lessons with Dan and is able to play 2 simple songs, and able to identify notes on the keyboard while reading music. I appreciate that Dan teaches the actual music rules and reading of music as well as numbers for the fingers. He is great about having the kids hold themselves and their hands correctly, and having them keep trying something until they get it right and reinforcing the correct practice once it is right. I would refer anyone to Dan to learn an instrument! He is amazing!"
