I have been playing piano for 40 plus years and have taught many different age groups. I like to teach students to read music and play various types of chords, scales and progressions. I also teach students to play by ear and learn to improvise. I will keep lessons fun, engaging, interesting and challenging.

- I have earned a music for piano diploma from an SCPA based high school
- I have professional playing experience, and have played several concerts
- I have been certified to work with all level working up to advanced, but not beyond
- I am listed as one of the top ten piano teachers in San Diego

Things to expect in a piano lesson:
- I will not provide any materials
- A majority of practice/rehearsal will take place outside of class time
- If you do not practice, outside of our lesson you will not see any improvements

I have been teaching piano lessons for 8 years and just recently completed my Bachelors degree in Music Education from California State University Fresno. I am passionate about bringing the joy of music to my students and love being able to customize lessons to fit each student’s goals and needs. I am currently teaching 30 students at the Steinway Piano Gallery of Fresno and I am excited to add more online students to my studio!

Students will learn basic piano skills such as hand placement, note reading, note values, pedal use, major and minor scales, expressions, etudes, pieces, memory work, music history, performance techniques, and most of all to have fun learning the piano. I will expect students to have a minimum 67 note keyboard with sustain pedal, or a good piano to use for personal practice time. Each student should spend at least 20-30 minutes daily to start. They must purchase the recommended books.

I use a variety of materials to best fit what the student needs and would like to get out of taking lessons. I enjoy teaching and playing music and I try to make sure my students have fun as well!

I often incorporate beginner piano, music theory, and ear training into my voice lessons. Many of my voice and songwriting students aim to learn how to accompany themselves, and an understanding of scales and chords on the piano helps tremendously with pitch and being able to sing in tune.

I am primarily a voice teacher, but if a student would like to learn how to play chords and scales, as well as develop an understanding of how to read music and play piano on a basic level, I have had much success in breaking down the piano in a simple and digestible way!
