Every lesson is tailored to the individual students goals and skill level. I practice positive coaching, creating an inclusive environment that focuses on weekly achievement goals. The focus is on jazz and contemporary styles with an emphasis on ear training, proper technique, Jazz music theory, sight reading and memorization. There will be very little exposure to classical repertoire. I look forward to working with you or your student!

About Emmanuel

One of the most talented teachers I’ve met. He gave private lessons to both of our kids for 3 years until we moved. Encouraging and positive environment. It was great to see so much progress. He is one of the good ones!!!

Emmanuel is outstanding! Not only was he able to explain difficult concepts simply but he never made me feel self conscious about my playing. Highly recommend!

I have been teaching piano since 2010 in a wide variety of settings, styles, and age groups. It is never too early or late to begin leaning piano!

I tailor my teaching approach for the specific needs and goals of each student, always putting their priorities first. While I am versed in theoretical approaches and using method books like Piano Adventures and the Hal Leonard series, I am also fluent in working on contemporary music with a focus on ear training and improvisation.

Patient, focused, encouraging and time efficient. He was good at keeping our youngster on task and making the experience fun. Wish he was able to take our child further with piano. I don't know how much was Tyler and how much was our child, but our kiddo learned quickly from Tyler. Thank you Tyler!

Learn while only playing songs you love! I will always keep an eye on technique - and I'm happy to help you learn to read, learn how to follow chord charts, play by ear, or all three - but I believe students should never look at it as homework. Piano has been a best friend since I started playing 40+ years ago and I love sharing it. So we only learn through your favorite songs. I've been teaching for 25 years, have performed with 8 Grammy winning acts, and have composed for much film, TV, and internet - from Spike Lee to MTV to major film studios. I was classically trained, accepted into conservatory while still in high school, and started playing in bands when I was 12 :) I also teach guitar, singing, and songwriting. I have taught junior high, high school, and college English and writing. I have taught special needs kids. I also work as a book author and screenwriter - but I love teaching and always enjoy having students. Pop, rock, reggae, R&B, classical - you name it, I can help! ...

About Scott

Learn to play by ONLY playing songs you love! I started playing classical piano at age 6. Piano lessons were a bit dry so, once I could, I started playing my favorite songs on my own, out of songbooks and by ear. 45 years later, piano has probably saved me a ton on therapy :) And, it's helped me m

Everyone is unique (physically, mentally), and we all will play the piano our own way and for different reasons. Whether you want to learn how to build endurance, craft a great touch, improvise or interpret classical works, you first have to believe that you CAN, and with a little help, you WILL. I will cater what we work on to your individual curiosity, interests, personal goals, and how you naturally play the the piano. I will help you to discover your own voice on the instrument, and at the same time make sure you develop great technique and musical ability. You will learn to control what and how you play, and grow as a musician!

I would highly recommend Jonathan as a music teacher. Jonathan is absolutely passionate about music, which is evident by his enthusiastic and energetic teaching techniques. He is very patient with my five year old and encourages her to get her very best effort. Jonathan customizes the music and lessons for my daughter’s skill level while at the same time provides challenges to keep the learning process interesting. In a short period of time, my daughter's keyboard playing abilities have dramatically increased. I am very grateful to Jonathan for making learning fun for my daughter, who always looks forward to her lessons!

Jonathan has made a great impression with my son. He displays a great combination of patience and encouragement with Nick. I have seen an improvement in his trumpet skills as well as his confidence.

My daughter and I are very happy with how Serena coached her. Her technical way of teaching has helped Jana , my daughter, understand the mechanics of singing better. We booked the $400/5sessions promo in preparation for my daughter’s competition and we are happy to say that she did very well, thanks to Serena’s coaching.
Serena is very professional, communicates clearly, and is excellent in her craft. It is unfortunate that due to other family affairs, we are unable to continue with her.
Alden
The sessions exceeded my expectations. My anxieties melted away with Serena’s personality, calmness, and thorough teaching style. It’s a real genuine experience. Serena brings innovative and natural techniques that would serve well to anyone who wants to better themselves in singing, artistry, or simply picking up healthier activities to make them more well rounded individuals.
Luba K.
Serena taught my 8 year old son for 9 beginner lessons. The scheduling did not work out for us to continue.

I loved her teaching style! She is calm but also fun for the boy. He loved the warm up exercises. In only 30 minutes of class they were able to play several little pieces. My son could then practice and master them at home. That gave him a sense of accomplishment. This approach is better than working on a hard piece and being frustrated. She focused on sight reading from the start instead of memorizing which is a great habit.

2 Effective Techniques for Smoothing Out Your Legato

What are the best exercises for practicing legato music on the piano? Here, Helendale, CA teacher Sylvia S. offers her tips and tricks for mastering the technique... Legato… a beautiful and mysterious word that brings images of a pair of swans gracefully gliding on the placid waters of a still lake. In the phrasing of the Italian renaissance, the time and place where the language of music was born, legato meant tied, bound, or connected. In terms of legato music, it means this and more. …
