My teaching style is very personable and friendly yet serious about results. Curriculum can be tailored to the student. For piano students I am currently using the Alfred's basic piano library series. Students can expect to progress to the next level within a 3 to 6 month period depending on student’s dedication. Reading, theory, and technique will all improve and grow at the same rate. My philosophy is that instruction should take a learners knowledge of music beyond the instrument.

About Jim
I have been teaching for the past 15 years as a private instructor. My students range in age from 5 years old to 64. I teach beginner and intermediate piano and beginner, intermediate, and advanced electric bass.
I've been playing professionally for the past 30 years as an electric bassist, pianist, and vocalist. Learn to play like your favorite artists while having fun and growing as a musician. For bass students, you can learn all styles that are desirable, such as funk techniques like slapping, R&B grooving, rock & roll driving, and jazz swinging. For piano students, you can expect to learn enough music theory to reach greater heights and move forward while developing a love for the piano and the world of music. I offer a teaching environment that is highly interactive and encourages students to play, and understand the dynamics of p
laying with other musicians. You will learn to read music but I promise you will not be bored.

Theory. Technique. Reading. Proper style. You'll learn it all here!

I've been helping people enjoy music for 26 years.

Having proper technical skills that become second nature and learning to read music will give you confidence.

I tailor lessons to each student's needs, talents and learning styles. And I will try to ensure that you play with ease and in a healthy manner with joy! I don't expect you to become a star (unless you want to) - just have a good time and play the music you want to.

About Laura
Of course you want an experienced, passionate, patient and compassionate teacher! Teaching is not my job; it is my calling and I am very good at it.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education (1987, Ball State University) and a Master of Music degree in Voice (1994, University of South Florida). I've taught in public schools in Sarasota. Currently I am adjunct staff for State College of Florida (formerly Manatee Community College) teaching private voice and piano lessons and music appreciation classes.

My music studio has been serving music students in the Sarasota area since 1991.

All are welcome! Lessons are for students of all abilities. Some students come with just the desire to sing or play better for their own pleasure, others come with prior training, some are preparing for an audition and some even wish to ma
ke a career in music. Some people have come seeking help with their speaking voice for public speaking. My goal is to help my students meet and exceed their goals and have more life through the joy of music, to help them gain greater appreciation of music and increase their confidence both in music and in life!

*** Lesson Details ***
When a student and I first meet I ask the student what her/his hopes, goals, tastes and prior experience are. Then we talk about plans for achieving those hopes and goals.

Most of my students are studying music just because they love music and want to improve for their own benefit. Because of that, while I want students to progress, I am very patient. I understand that some weeks it's harder to find time for practice. I provide instruction and tools for growth, and show how to practice, then the students go home, use them and discover what works best for them.

Vocal lessons are tailored to each individual. Exercises include posture, breathing, diction, projection of the voice, unification of the voice, improvement of tone, range and flexibility. Healthy, beautiful singing is the goal. The confidence that goes along with that is amazing!

CDs with exercises and accompaniments are provided. And students can make CDs of their own performances!

Piano instruction is also tailored to the needs of each individual student. With young beginners I often use the "Faber" method. It has books for music theory, technique, lessons and performance. And students enjoy playing along with the Cd that goes with their pieces.

For older beginners, including adults, I often use the "Bastien, Older Beginner" or "Alfred, Adult Beginner". Both quickly teach melody and chord reading so that students can play more interesting pieces within a month. The lesson materials are supplemented by simple classical pieces or other music the student is interested in.

When a student comes in with prior training I continue with what she/he has been working on and adjust it as necessary. Literature for more advanced students is chosen with their abilities, technical and expressive needs.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The studio area is closed off from the rest of the house. There is a small seating area for parents which is separated by a screen from the lesson area. I have a Yamaha CVP-103 digital keyboard with weighted and touch sensitive keys, plus lots of different instrument sounds and beats to make playing and singing more fun. I can also adjust the pitch of songs so that they fit the student's voice. The keyboard is plugged into a Super Scope Cd recorder; a microphone is plugged in as well. This allows me to make recordings of accompaniments and practice exercises, as well as recording students' performances. (See below for photos.)

*** Specialties ***
I have been teaching professionally since 1987; I have Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music. I discover the goals a student has and give them the tools to reach those goals. My teaching style is structured yet highly personalized for the individual. I teach music ranging from Classical to Popular always using the best techniques.

I cater my lesson style to each individual person. I gauge where they are at and their personality style and respond in a personalized way to help them grow their passion for music and get some serious skills.

If you are looking for a highly regimented instructor who is very serious, I am not the one for you!

I have a solid background in live performance, professional gigging, music writing, singing, music theory, and of course in your ins

I have been teaching professionally for 25 years. I am also the Music Director and organist in Sarasota. I prepare a specific teaching curriculum for each person. We all are different, some start music in their forties, some at 5 years old...The teachers flexibility to oversee what one needs is a key that allows each individual to learn the instrument. My favorite music to teach is classic, contemporary, christian music. Also ragtime music could be great way to boost interest and excitement. I love to share some crossover music ideas with my students,- the music I compose and teach on Yamaha Clavinova is my big hobby. I want my students to reach their musical potential and aspirations while having a wonderful time!

About EDITA
I am a professional pianist and organist . I was 5 years old when I started to play piano. I loved it so much, that my parents enrolled me in Art Gymnasium in Vilnius, Lithuania, when I was 7. I majored in piano, organ, solfege, music theory and music literature. Graduated University with Magna Cum Laude.
I have 25 years of teaching experience and I can help any student to find their talent, play with freedom, confidence, and selfexpression.
I teach both- piano and organ. I take students with all different ages and experience levels. I am teaching students to sight read music with application of music theory, but if they want to learn how to play contemporary music using chord charts,- I will teach the that.
My passion is classical music, but I love contemporary music a lot . I am looking forward to help you to achieve the greatne

While living in New York City I worked as a commercial composer and was selected by the Songwriters Hall of Fame to be a part of their Songwriters Showcase. I have written and recorded four commercially released albums and have performed on multiple releases by other artists. My lessons are built on a foundation of traditional studies where students learn to play, read music, and follow chord charts. For students that are interested, I can help them create their own music either using the latest technology or starting simple with just a single instrument. I also enjoy helping students learn to improvise if they choose.
