I have been teaching the piano lessons for 30 years. Curve fingers, Pre-level to 10 levels(Keith Snell piano books), All the Techniques (Major, minor scales,Music Structures), Etudes etc.....

About Esther
I'm Esther, a very enthusiastic musician. I started out teaching myself piano and singing in a choir at the age of 9. I moved to the U.S. in 1992 and studied music for 10 years receiving my B.M. & M.M in music at California State University of Sacramento. I studied and trained with Claudia Kitka & Jackie Victorino for voice and Kirsten Smith, Joan McDe, & Angel Mamn for piano. I have performed many solo concerts in the U.S. as well as South Korea.

I find a student's strengths and weaknesses using various ways to encourage each student. I am very patient, kind, flexible, and enthusiastic and I love working with children as much as adults. I strongly support basic skills: sight-reading, pitch and tone.

I have 30 years experience teaching kids and adults private piano and 14 yrs voice coaching (early period to contemporary). I sp
eak fluent Korean and English.

*** Lesson Details ***
My objectives: to help students powerfully communicate through the essence of music and aid the development of children and adults by finding their strengths and weaknesses and to develop their skills and show their musical talents. I emphasize basic skills, good sight-reading, and Solfege skills (Do-Re-Me...etc), vocal technique, vocal performance, and Alexandria technique. Students participate in their own recital and show their musical talents.

Lessons are held at either your home, or mine using composers from various time periods that speaks to the individual student.
Also,I do prefer to work a weekly student.
A beginner lesson may be 10-15 min. for warm-ups and scales, 10-15 min. theory and 10 min. playtime. In three to six months the student will be able to read sheet music and should be able to perform simple songs.

An intermediate lesson is longer, 45-50 min., with more focus on music from a specific chosen time-period. A specialty is preparation for voice and piano auditions for entering college.

I enjoy teaching children from age 5 up to adults. I also can teach beginner guitar.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano, electronic keyboard, guitar.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Guitar

*** Specialties ***
I teach the basic skills very strongly, and also encourage students and, challenge them, as well.
I also have new techniques for teaching voice and piano.
I do prefer to teach a weekly lesson.

I will definitely keep taking lessons with Esther until I move to a different state. Highly recommend her. She was very patient. Out first lesson took place at her place. I honestly never sang in front of people, though I love to rap with my friends in karaoke. I already gained so much confidence and see the difference. Cannot wait till the next lesson and learn new skills and become a better vocalist. Thank you Esther.

Piano is the place almost all musicians learn their theory and ear training. It has to do with how easy it is to play many notes at once. Other instruments do not allow this. They limit to sometimes one note at a time. That explains why every institution of higher learning (college) in the western world requires every student of music to learn piano along WITH their instrument. It's for education in harmony. Piano is a nice instrument musically by itself too though. It can be a complete music without having to sing or get a band together.

About Loren
Loren is a well-known music instructor and has been teaching private music lessons in the Elk Grove area since 2002. He has been teaching for years and years, has two music degrees and is an active performer in many styles, enjoying a steady gigging schedule in the Sacramento area. He's "the real deal."

*** Lesson Details ***
The lessons are of the highest quality available as the student learns to read music, is guided in music theory with ear training, technique, and performance, however performance remains optional. There are options.

We often begin with songs that the student already likes. Sometimes that's the ticket. From Bach to the Beatles, Taylor Swift to Bob Dylan, there are always great entrance points.

Theory, (chords, intervals, scales, cadences, etc.) Reading music, (tabs, traditional music notation, charts), Te
chnique, (right and left hand patterns), it's all covered. It's fun and legitimate education.

*** Specialties ***
Lessons in piano or guitar cover all popular music styles including country, rock, and classical.

I have taught couple students past ten years ago and some of them have become an excellent piano player even started teaching others.

I usually do a consultation with my new students to see where they are at and select appropriate lesson books for them. One thing I do require from all of my piano students is that they need to practice everyday, even if it's just an hour. Practice makes perfect!

About Allen
I started learning piano when I was five and played classical for six years. I like to play by ear and also took a year lesson in improvisation.

I graduated from San Jose State University with B.A. in Music Composition in 2002 and I've been composing ever since I was sixteen. I wrote a lot of Christian Music both in English and Chinese, Pop, Commercial, and Soundtrack.

I teach according to each student's need and goal. I like to do a consultation with the student and parents on our first lesson.

If you're interested in getting to know more about the piano lesson, feel free to message me!

God bless & keep learning~

I am starting over from scratch with trumpet. Tom is helping me to rebuild and strengthen that foundation, develop good habits and skills with meaningful exercises and great learning materials. In just a few lesson I feel I have made great progress while enjoying myself immensely. Tom's lessons are a delightful experience; I alway leave them feeling very energized and refreshed. My favorite part of our lesson is when we play duets together. Tom plays his Euphonium, I love the sound of that instrument, while I play trumpet; these duets sound just heavenly. I do not have enough good things to say about this instructor, other than I am simply delighted with the experience. Thank you Tom. -s.

I grew up with a piano always near me. There was a piano in my family's home, and because I was always involved with music in school, I was naturally always in the vicinity of a piano there as well. This lead me to teach myself a lot about the instrument, which was good because I ended up playing it a lot when I lived in Brazil. Then, as part of my bachelor's degree at Brigham Young University, I took a full year of secondary piano lessons, qualifying me to teach beginning piano. ***Important FYI*** Students MUST have access to their own piano/electronic keyboard. I teach with the Faber & Faber method books.

About Drew
As a recent recipient of a Master's Degree in Flute Performance from Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music, Drew Powell is a promising young flutist and highly sought after flute teacher. For 15 years, he has participated in numerous music competitions, festivals, and performance opportunities, both as a soloist and part of ensembles, and actively continues to do so. He is an advocate of the arts and passionate about spreading the gift of music, which has lead him to teach over 30 students (and counting!) in just the past 3 years.

Drew won the 2017 Myrna Brown Artist Competition (an international competition with no age limit) hosted by the Texas Flute Society. He was recently invited to be a guest artist at the 2018 Texas Flute Society Annual Convention, where he taught several masterclasses and gave solo performances.

*
**My Vision***
I seek students who share a love of learning. I am not looking for the finest musicians or highest IQ's, because those gifts are not required to learn and grow. My greatest experiences as a teacher have come from when I work with students who just want to learn more.

***My Requirements***
I hold my students to high expectations when it comes to practicing. Each week, I give students individual assignments that I know will improve their learning and playing abilities, and I expect those assignments to be fulfilled by the next lesson. A failure to do so will result in frustration for both myself and my student.

However, I know that nobody is perfect, and I myself have had my share of weeks where life happens, and I simply don't progress as much as I would like. As a teacher, I understand this perfectly, and I will always strive to listen to my students, and work with them through their difficulties or struggles.

***What To Expect From Lessons***
I bring a lot of energy to lessons! I am very passionate about teaching and helping students grow, and I make sure to bring that to every lesson. I give concise, direct feedback to students, making sure to give them the information they need to understand how they can achieve their goals and grow.

I am very perceptive of students' feelings, and I take care to be sensitive to their needs each week. My worst fear as a teacher is to cause hurt feelings, so I will do everything in my power to avoid that!

I am an expert in the field of music and the flute, so you can be rest assured that the quality of instruction will be the highest.

He helped her to have fun as she learned. He is patient, knowledgeable, positive, and communicates concepts and expectations well. We would have loved to have him stay in the area and continue as her teacher.

He's incredibly patient, thoughtful, and hardworking, and he helped me correct problems that previous teachers never even noticed. I improved in so many areas in a short period of time, including overall tone, physical technique, performance psychology, practice habits, and applying musicality to my performance. About Kevin

Kevin holds a B.A. from Hampshire College, where he studied music- primarily classical singing- and mathematics. During his undergrad, he began to seek and employ a musical pedagogy combining stimulating, consistent practice and the simple joy of living musically. I have been teaching piano for over 30 years. For beginning student's, I use the "Alfred's Basic Piano Series". This will teach them playing the piano immediately. I will be teaching music theory, notation, technique, and different chords progressions. This will be introduce as my student's progress in their studies. For Intermediate and advance student's they usually want to focus on a certain type of music. For example, they might want to learn jazz techniques, classical, country, or latin jazz techniques. I will always tailor and cater to my student's ability to progress, not forgetting to use a little bit of humor so that they will have a rewarding career in music.

About Art
To my future student's, I look forward of meeting you and start teaching you how to use 10 fingers to play 88 keys on the piano. My teaching experience dates back to my college day's, as i begun teaching private lessons part time many years ago, and have been consistently teaching students the last 10 years in their homes. I have performed with many groups throughout my musical career and have had a rewarding career playing the piano. I was station overseas in Stuttgart, West Germany and had the honor of assisting 15 teachers to start a music program which was very successful. I retired with 22 years of service with the 159th National Guard Army Band with a honorable discharge. One of my favorite performances was when we play at the Palladium Hollywood in Los Angeles. My teaching style is very simple. Be creative and always involved humo
r. The student will know instantly if the instructor is eager to teach as the student is also eager to learn. For example, i would use a lot of metaphors and analogies to explain a musical concept. I would always tailor lessons to their level of skill. Nothing is more rewarding than to see one of my students at a recital and i hear their parents tell their friends,"that's my son, he learned from the best". I personally believe "teaching music" can not be taught in a classroom. One must have a love of teaching and a love of teaching that particular instrument to my students. For my beginning students, i use the the "Alfred's basic music series". For my intermediate to advance students, i start at their level of piano playing. Focusing on the type of music they want to learn.
