Private Piano Teacher

I have been teaching the piano lessons for 30 years. Curve fingers, Pre-level to 10 levels(Keith Snell piano books), All the Techniques (Major, minor scales,Music Structures), Etudes etc.....

About Esther

I'm Esther, a very enthusiastic musician. I started out teaching myself piano and singing in a choir at the age of 9. I moved to the U.S. in 1992 and studied music for 10 years receiving my B.M. & M.M in music at California State University of Sacramento. I studied and trained with Claudia Kitka & Jackie Victorino for voice and Kirsten Smith, Joan McDe, & Angel Mamn for piano. I have performed many solo concerts in the U.S. as well as South Korea.

I find a student's strengths and weaknesses using various ways to encourage each student. I am very patient, kind, flexible, and enthusiastic and I love working with children as much as adults. I strongly support basic skills: sight-reading, pitch and tone.

I have 38 years experience teaching kids and adults private piano and 17 yrs voice coaching (early period to contemporary). I sp

eak fluent Korean and English.

*** Lesson Details ***
My objectives: to help students powerfully communicate through the essence of music and aid the development of children and adults by finding their strengths and weaknesses and to develop their skills and show their musical talents. I emphasize basic skills, good sight-reading, and Solfege skills (Do-Re-Me...etc), vocal technique, vocal performance, and Alexandria technique. Students participate in their own recital and show their musical talents.

Lessons are held at either your home, or mine using composers from various time periods that speaks to the individual student.
Also,I do prefer to work a weekly student.
A beginner lesson may be 10-15 min. for warm-ups and scales, 10-15 min. theory and 10 min. playtime. In three to six months the student will be able to read sheet music and should be able to perform simple songs.

An intermediate lesson is longer, 45-50 min., with more focus on music from a specific chosen time-period. A specialty is preparation for voice and piano auditions for entering college.

I enjoy teaching children from age 5 up to adults. I also can teach beginner guitar.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano, electronic keyboard, guitar.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Guitar

*** Specialties ***
I teach the basic skills very strongly, and also encourage students and, challenge them, as well.
I also have new techniques for teaching voice and piano.
I do prefer to teach a weekly lesson.

Piano students will learn warm-ups using scales and other techniques including Hanon exercises as well as learning how to practice. Genre is dependent on student's goals/needs.

About Mandy

I have been singing since I was a little girl and began studying voice at age 15. I was singing in my first band when I was in high school and participating in vocal competitions. Professionally, I was a back-up vocalist and percussionist with the Sam Morrison Band from 2006-2012, where I traveled all over the country.

I have studied and performed genres like opera and Lieder and performed in China and Europe with the California State University, Long Beach choirs.

I have worked in opera companies based in southern California, including Lyric Opera of Los Angeles, Long Beach Opera, and Celestial Opera. I have also been hired as a soloist at various local churches.

I was a faculty member at Orange County School of the Arts, for almost a decade, where I taught Music Theory, Music History, and Musicianship.

As a member of B

elle Musique, a hand bell trio, I played and sung for weddings, funerals, and private parties.

In addition, I manage and play in a band, Wheel House, where we create a unique blend of rock, blues, and funk.

It is my belief that it is never too late to follow your passion, but you have to find what really makes you happy and fulfilled!

*** Lesson Details ***
I teach students according to their own goals and interests. However, I must include elements that are vital in the musical world whether the student is a hobbyist or leaning toward a professional career. My instrumentalists will learn all aspects of theory including rhythm, basic theory, and musicianship. My singers will learn about breath, anatomy, alignment, and performance. This is in addition to learning fundamental repertoire.

I have very high expectations for my students and do my best to motivate and challenge them, bringing out the natural musician. I am goofy but demanding and always develop a strong and trusting relationship with each and every student.

Private Piano Teacher

I've been teaching piano for 10 years. Within the first few lessons students will be able to read basic music notation and as time goes on they will be able to confidently play beginning songs of their own choosing. I typically use Alfred or Faber books which builds playing skills and teaches music theory.

About Rhonda

I have always had a love for music. From all the music trivia games my family won't play with me, to my large collection of records, cassettes, and CDs - I am hooked!

I made my solo performance debut at age 7 by singing "It's A Small World" acapella in a school talent show. At age 9 I started taking clarinet lessons where I learned musicianship and how to read music. Throughout my school years I also sang in choir, played tenor saxophone in the school jazz band, and hoofed it in marching band.

During my first year in college I took a beginning guitar class for fun and I never looked back! I studied classical guitar for 3 years and piano for 2 years. I ultimately received a Minor in Music from California State University, Hayward in 1990.

I have been playing guitar for 32 years. I have played professionally in the San Franc

isco Bay Area in various rock, country, and blues bands as well as playing solo acoustic performances at local coffee houses and Farmer's Markets.

I have been teaching private guitar lessons for 25 years and piano for 15. I like to keep learning fun! I am a very patient, compassionate teacher who will come up with creative ways to explain/demonstrate something new.

*** Lesson Details ***
Music is the most fun activity that people of all ages can enjoy. And learning how to play music should be fun too! When students inquire about taking lessons from me I always ask, "What do you want to learn?" I try to keep students interested by showing them things they want to learn. I also believe in teaching the basics. Whether you want to take piano or guitar lessons I believe you should learn basic musicianship which includes learning to read simple notes and where those notes are on your instrument, rhythm concepts, and tempo. It's easier than you think! The more you know the more you can teach yourself later on, and the more you can collaborate with other musicians.

After 3 or 6 months of taking lessons with me, students will be able to read basic music notation. They will be able to play songs either by their choosing or mine, they will have self-confidence to play songs in front of an audience/friends, and they will have the knowledge to figure out how to play songs on their own.

*** Specialties ***
I studied classical guitar at Cal State Hayward and have taught different finger picking styles as well as genres such as pop and country.

Private Piano Teacher

Want to start playing all of your favorite songs quickly and easily? Looking for a teacher who understands what YOU want and what YOUR goals are? Want someone easy to get along with, friendly, and who makes lessons FUN? Then look no further! I am an experienced music teacher with numerous students and I specialize in helping you achieve your goals as fast as possible. No matter the style, age, skill level or temperament of the student, I guarantee I can help you grow as a musician and greatly improve your skillset! Send me a message and let's talk about what YOU want from music lessons!

About Christopher

Hello! My name is Chris and I am a professional musician and music instructor! I have taught music since 2012 and graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Commercial Music from William Jessup University, where I learned composition, singing, instrumentation, theory, ear training, recording and production and many other skills.

Any student of mine will find that I don't care what "the book" says I should teach my student; I care what my student wants to learn. I will only have you learn a new skill if it is going to further your musical experience and give you the tools to accomplish the goals that you set for yourself. If you wanna learn Mozart, you got it. If you wanna learn ACDC, you got it. If you wanna learn jazz, folk or even rock-a-billy surf polka, then guess what; you got it.

My lessons are fun, relaxed and I will NEVER make

you feel bad for a mistake or a missed note. I will help you improve and get better, but not by shouting at you; we will work together to improve your musicianship, and as long as your satisfied with the lessons and the results, then I will be too!

Now, a little bit more about me!

I am the drummer, background vocalist and songwriter for California-based alternative-rock band, With One Voice. I am married to my beautiful wife, Courtney, who also plays and teaches music! I love rock but I have an appreciation for all music, from rap to country to soul to Broadway to classical; I listen to it all! I believe I can make you better at any style of music (and every style of music) so let's talk about how I can help you accomplish your goals, impress your friends, become a rockstar and learn a new, fun, and exciting skill today!

Private Piano Teacher

I teach beginner to intermediate piano, which include learning to sight-read, playing scales, proper fingering techniques, teaching to play with both hands together. Eventually we will get to deeper roots in theory such as key signatures, modes and Jazz chords and theory. I believe my students need to learn music theory along with piano, other wise they don't understand the fundamentals of music. Plus it will help them in the future with other instruments or band at school.

About Astrid

Teaching is my passion. Over the last few years I have worked with some amazing students of all ages. My youngest student was 2 years old and my oldest student is in her 70's and I absolutley love that! I have experience working with children with learning difficulties and students who get frustrated really easily. I love helping students fall in love with music, like I did growing up with my music teachers and professors. I am passionate about music and passionate about my students learning and excelling in their craft. I enjoy working with all ages and all types of music abilities. As a teacher I really push my students to understand music itself and spend time going over theory, which is super important. I would love to help you or your child grow and learn in their music abilities and hope to hear from you soon!

Private Piano Teacher

Experienced piano teacher of 12 years accepting students ages 8 to adult, beginner to intermediate! I structure my lessons to build a strong foundation of understanding theory and technique. Although my preference is for classical, I encourage individuality and use Alfred’s Basic Piano Books for its broad application in various styles of music. Once the students complete the curriculum, they are equipped with the skills and knowledge to play most any music or proceed to advanced instruction.

About Laura

Hi, there! My name is Laura and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2002 and have loved helping my students learn both technique and theory as I seek to motivate them to play the best that they can and to instill a love for music. Although I do not hold a degree in music, I was trained to teach by a former music instructor from the University of the Pacific. I have been playing the piano for 40 years and I am looking forward to passing my knowledge onto you and helping you reach your goals!

Private Piano Teacher

I grew up with a piano always near me. There was a piano in my family's home, and because I was always involved with music in school, I was naturally always in the vicinity of a piano there as well. This lead me to teach myself a lot about the instrument, which was good because I ended up playing it a lot when I lived in Brazil. Then, as part of my bachelor's degree at Brigham Young University, I took a full year of secondary piano lessons, qualifying me to teach beginning piano. ***Important FYI*** Students MUST have access to their own piano/electronic keyboard. I teach with the Faber & Faber method books.

About Drew

As a recent recipient of a Master's Degree in Flute Performance from Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music, Drew Powell is a promising young flutist and highly sought after flute teacher. For 15 years, he has participated in numerous music competitions, festivals, and performance opportunities, both as a soloist and part of ensembles, and actively continues to do so. He is an advocate of the arts and passionate about spreading the gift of music, which has lead him to teach over 30 students (and counting!) in just the past 3 years.

Drew won the 2017 Myrna Brown Artist Competition (an international competition with no age limit) hosted by the Texas Flute Society. He was recently invited to be a guest artist at the 2018 Texas Flute Society Annual Convention, where he taught several masterclasses and gave solo performances.

**My Vision***
I seek students who share a love of learning. I am not looking for the finest musicians or highest IQ's, because those gifts are not required to learn and grow. My greatest experiences as a teacher have come from when I work with students who just want to learn more.

***My Requirements***
I hold my students to high expectations when it comes to practicing. Each week, I give students individual assignments that I know will improve their learning and playing abilities, and I expect those assignments to be fulfilled by the next lesson. A failure to do so will result in frustration for both myself and my student.

However, I know that nobody is perfect, and I myself have had my share of weeks where life happens, and I simply don't progress as much as I would like. As a teacher, I understand this perfectly, and I will always strive to listen to my students, and work with them through their difficulties or struggles.

***What To Expect From Lessons***
I bring a lot of energy to lessons! I am very passionate about teaching and helping students grow, and I make sure to bring that to every lesson. I give concise, direct feedback to students, making sure to give them the information they need to understand how they can achieve their goals and grow.

I am very perceptive of students' feelings, and I take care to be sensitive to their needs each week. My worst fear as a teacher is to cause hurt feelings, so I will do everything in my power to avoid that!

I am an expert in the field of music and the flute, so you can be rest assured that the quality of instruction will be the highest.

In the few months that I've had flute lessons with Drew, I've grown so much. As a beginner in flute, I was completely scared and overwhelmed with taking band for the first time. Knowing I needed lessons, I'm so glad that I was paired with Drew. On my first lesson, Drew asked me what my goals were and I told him that it was to just simply read the notes on the page. That's all I expected to learn from him, but he taught me so much more! Drew taught me about musical expression, tone and all the little details behind flute playing. His teachings challenged and motivated me. My peers and band teacher have noticed my improvement and progress. Thanks to Drew, I can now play with confidence and poise. -Emma

"Ben has been instructing my 2 kids (now aged 11 and 9) in-home for at least 5 years. We started off with piano for the first few years but then switched t
o a combination of piano and acoustic guitar (half a session dedicated to each instrument).

He is patient, kind, and highly knowledgeable. I clearly see the upward trajectory in my kids' musical capabilities. One of my kids can be difficult to deal with, especially when he is tired, but Ben would mold his approach to the lesson on the spot to keep my kid engaged (e.g., instead of continuing the lesson on the actual piano, he'd switch to a fun music-oriented game)."
