Professional trombonist working in the NYC area. Experienced in teaching all styles of music to all ages and levels.
I have also taught many older students that want to rediscover their passion for music.
Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. Instead of simply training students to read music and play notes, I prefer to teach my students to think, play, and act like musicians.
My lessons feature improvisation skills, sight-reading, playing by ear, building a strong technical foundation and musical analysis.
Lesson are also focused on staying engaged by playing new fun and challenging material.
To me the most important thing is to have fun and to keep the passion we all have for music while gaining technical proficiency.
I assure you will see leaps of improvement by working with me!
I can’t wait to meet you!

Book NowI have formally studied flute for more than 23 years and have performed in diverse concert bands, orchestras, theatre orchestras, ensembles, and other performance groups for most of that time. I teach all ages and levels, from beginner to advanced. I primarily provide classical instruction and training for the concert flute and piccolo. However, I also specialize in other woodwind instruments, particularly traditional Celtic instruments like the Irish Tin Whistle and traditional Irish wooden flute. Lessons in these specialized instruments and others are available upon request and based on student interest. All lessons are offered in-person in the comfort of a student's home, or remotely through TakeLessons.com's online learning platform. Lessons cater to each student's needs, goals, level, and interests, and are designed to be fun, engaging experiences.
Although flute requires patience, dedication, hard work, and discipline, like any art form or discipline, lessons should still be an

In the time I have been studying with Tim, I have done more than I thought I ever could. I went from a frustrated beginner guitar player to having enough confidence to play on stage with some of Tim’s other students and I am now looking forward to what I will be able to do on the guitar instead of being frustrated with what I can’t do.
Tim is a talented and passionate musician as well as a knowledgeable and very relatable instructor which is a rare combination and he's also a really great guy and any student of any age or ability will benefit from studying with him.

My goal is to unlock your creativity! As an active musician, producer, and teacher, I love to help people learn how to read, write, and understand the music they love and envision. My teaching philosophy is that every aspect of music is connected and therefore to really get it, you have to learn it all! I take a wide ground up approach inching away at rhythm, melody, theory, technique, and feel altogether, advancing all musical skills equally over time.
About Joshua
I am a Nashville-based musician and record producer, originally from just north of Chicago in Gurnee, IL. I began my musical journey at the early age of three. My parents recount me banging on pots and pans before I could speak, so they placed me in piano lessons at three years old and drum lessons
