Stacey's operatic performing credits include Autumn in Charles Halka's Layover with NANOworks Opera, the Mother in Amahl and Night Visitors with the Clermont Philharmonic Orchestra, Testo in Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda with the College-Conservatory of Music , Mimi from Puccini's La Boheme in the CCM's Opera scenes program, Donna Donna in P.D.Q Bach's The Abduction of Figaro , 1st Lady in Mozart's Die ZauberflÃ¶te and Juno in Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld all at the DePauw University Opera Theatre. Other partial roles/scenes performed include Suzel in Mascangi's Lamico Fritz, Countess in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, and Fiordiligi in Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte.
More than just singing opera Stacey is known for her versatility as a classical singer regularly doing cross over work. She regularly gigs as a jazz/popular singer accompanying herself on the piano. Her musical theater performing credits include Mama in Everybody's Buddy: The Buddy LaRosa Story, Shelia in Hair with DePauw University, Ensemble/Soprano Soloist in Sweeny Todd, Sonia in Godspell with the Lakeside Players and Yonah in Children of Eden with the Lakeside Players.
Stacey received her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music where she studied with Barbara Paver. She graduated magna cum laude from DePauw University with a B.M. in Vocal Performance. She studied with Caroline Smith and Stanley Irwin.
Stacey is originally from Florence, Kentucky and takes pride in impacting her home community through music.
*** Lesson Details ***
Stacey is known for adapting lessons for the individual. Each body is unique and thus each vocal instrument is unique. Stacey takes time to get to know each student and caters to their specific needs and goals. She believes in well rounded performers working often on dramatic intentions, overall professionalism, and stage presence. She also prepares her students with their audition packages and stresses the importance of regular performance. Stacey is a very open and caring individual but expects hard work from her students.

I began playing the piano at the age of 5, later moving to the organ at 9. I have held a church job since then, working in multiple different denominations and settings. I have a strong background of piano, accompanying, theory, sacred liturgy, and musical performance. I enjoy studying and listening to many genres of music as well as performing them. I am very interested in historically informed performance and understanding different techniques as they are related to the composition style of different time perio
I enjoy working with students of all ages. Regardless of your ability, age, or experience, I will work with you. We can work out a plan for lesson times, intensity of practice and work, and tailor the lesson to the right pace for you.
*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons tend to be tailored to the needs of individual students. I am not as much a fan of a strict curriculum that I use on each student. For beginners, one can expect to be given method books to get them moving in the right direction. As one advances, we eventually move on to repertoire. I take an approach to lessons that emphasizes total body awareness and high level mental awareness. The most important thing anyone can learn in music is that it isn't just about the right notes; it isn't about the right rhythm. It is about the complete musicianship and the complete awareness needed to truly understand and perform a work of music. In order to make this approach work, my strictness as a teacher varies depending on the level of devotion the student is willing to put forth. After six months with me as a teacher, expect to notice changes in the way you see music and comprehend your technique at the keyboard.

I am very highly trained in performance practices of the Baroque era, especially on the organ. I am also very specialized in body movement and efficient keyboard technique. I also have a lot of experience in the Romantic repertoire of the piano. Lastly, I am also well trained as an accompanist on both the organ and the piano.

In Chicago She performed with various opera companies including the Floating Opera Company and the Gilbert and Sullivan opera company. She attended grad school at Depaul University where she had the opportunity to be a soloist in The Fairy Queen, L'Orfeo and The Queen of the Night in Mozart's Magic Flute. Outside of Depaul Emily was selected as a soloist for The Messiah as well as a competition finalist for the Sinfonietta Bel Canto Competition. Most recently she played the Five Year Old in Milton Granger's The Proposal and Top Bottom in The Quantum Mechanic.

I was raised in a family that has a tradition of passing the art of music down from generation to generation. I began playing at age 5 and I play 5 instruments professionally and 15 instruments in all. I studied music at Morehead State University and Musician’s Institute. I've been a touring and studio musician since the age of 16. I have been teaching music for more than 35 years. Many of my alumni have gone on to become professional musicians and teachers themselves. My approach to music education is somewhat unique, although it is gaining popularity in the mainstream of music education. Because I sure do! I spent 2 years completing my masters degree in Germany, where I also taught in several music schools and maintained a studio.
