I aim to instill a love of music and of the instrument through both student guided song selections from popular genres and movie/video game soundtracks, as well as technical and music reading exercises designed to make my students well rounded and ready for any way they choose to pursue music.

About Nicholas
Detroit native, Nicholas C. K., demonstrated an innate musical talent from a young age. His command of piano, guitar, trumpet and bass progressed to studies at both Columbia University in Chicago and Wayne State University in Detroit. Since age 16 Nic has toured the country sharing the stage with acclaimed rock acts such as; Tesla, Bret Michaels, 3 Doors Down and many others. He is currently endorsed by Warwick Basses.

Nicholas been a musician in some form or another for as long as he can remember. His musical journey started when he was only six, with a delve into the realm of classical piano. While there he studied under world class child prodigy Josh Cullen. The composers that he studied include Bach, Beethoven, Barton, Hayden and many others.

From here he progressed to playing jazz trumpet, studying the Jamey Aebersold method un
der Paul Finkbeiner, the lead trumpet player for the Paul Keller Ensemble.

Then at the age of 11, with the help of his grandfather he discovered the guitar. He learned quickly on his old SR guitar. He quickly discovered that he had a natural taste for blues phrasing, and his soloing abilities quickly blossomed. 2 years later, he had formed his first band, Spherical. It was through this band that he found the bass.

His journey into the realm of bass, began out of necessity and progressed into love of the bottom end. Since then, he has been collecting basses, playing, living and breathing bass. He now realizes the importance of a funky beat, a subtle line and most important of all A Tight Groove!!!

The benefit of studying under someone with a vast array of both talent and experience is clear.

*** Lesson Details ***
During his musical career Nicholas has played almost every style of music; from folk to experimental from jazz to rock. One thread holds true through all music, it has to groove.
During the course of a lesson he will cover a broad range of topics starting from the basics, and moving into ear training, sight-reading, theoretical knowledge and most important for bass players, groove. Just as every player has their own musical personality and voice, so to does every lesson that Nicholas gives.
In a supportive, patient environment, every lesson is custom tailored to the student.

He is professional and patient yet he meets you where you are. I had played piano many years ago and he quickly assessed where I am today and asked what I wanted to accomplish at this point. He showed me things that I was never taught all those years ago. He is kind and so easy to work with. Can't say enough about him. Wasn't sure if I could play again after so many years. I have had hand surgery and can't wait to continue my lessons. He showed me that I can. Great for this old lady, I mean elderly person.

I can help those, who are new to the instrument, to become familiar with scales, progressions, technique, reading, and musical styles. I enjoy helping students find their voices and tastes by using videos and music that inspires them. If students already have some songs that they wish to learn, I can help them achieve those goals, as well.

About Tracy
I have been playing the drum set in various bands since 2001. I have also been playing with the OKC Community Orchestra since 2009. I have played in symphonic and jazz bands and a percussion ensemble. I have taught a percussion class, private lessons, and I have been a full time music teacher in the OKC district. I have recorded in the studio also, and I enjoy doing a bit of my own production. Rocking on stage is my favorite activity! I can teach you how to be an integral part of a band and play along to your favorites. I enjoy bringing out the best in a student and teaching to his/her strengths. Let's run!

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a very easygoing and patient teacher. I fully understand that the drum set requires a high level of coordination, and I am mindful of this while working with students. I will begin with proper gr
ip and stroke technique as well as the use of a metronome. I will teach the student to read rhythms and drum set notation. I know how to isolate difficult patterns, break them down into understandable parts, and reintegrate them into a piece. I like to use the music that a student enjoys to relate to the written music. I have found YouTube to be an indispensable tool for this, and my students have responded very well. I will work on snare drum technique as well, because it is the primary voice on the set, and the touch and nuance required to play it well relate to the set as well. I will tailor my instruction to suit the student's learning style and preferences. I want to make the learning fun, so I will help the student quickly gain the basic skills to play along with their favorite bands. This promotes musicality as well as solid time. It will also aid in transcription, which will come with development and is a valuable tool. I will use this in tandem with technique-building exercises to form a well rounded musician. I believe that a student should have a familiarity with his/her instrument, so we will also go over the anatomy and tuning of the set. Above all, music should be fun!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music room w/ drum set, hand drums, and seating for parents

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have a practice pad, snare drum, and sticks. If a student wishes to have drum set lessons in his/her home, that instrument should be there.
**Please note** I do have a drum set in my home.

*** Specialties ***
For the drum set, I am the most experienced in rock, country, and bluegrass styles. I am comfortable with both Stevens and Burton grips for mallet instruments.

I teach beginning piano at my home studio where I have an upright piano.

About Roberta
Flutist, Roberta M., is equally at home playing classical and new music. I Care If You Listen has extolled her “lush, full tones… even among the best professionals, not many flute players sound so compelling in a lower register.” Praising her “extreme adventurousness,” New York Concert Review said she “riveted with her performance, inspiring one to want a repeated hearing.” Roberta is a founding member of the Cadillac Moon Ensemble, a quartet of unusual instrumentation dedicated to commissioning and performing new works. To date, the group has commissioned over fifty pieces.

Roberta holds a Bachelor of Music with highest honors from the University of Colorado at Boulder, a Master of Music from SUNY-Purchase College, and Doctor of Musical Arts from the City University of New York Graduate Center. Her teachers include Robert Dick, Tara H
elen O’Connor, Alexa Still, and Jean Rosenblum. Roberta resides in Brooklyn, New York where she teaches privately and is on faculty at Great Neck Music Conservatory.

Roberta has performed with groups including Duo RoMi (with pianist Mirna Lekic), the Portland String Quartet, SEM Ensemble, Wet Ink Ensemble, Argento Chamber Ensemble, Wordless Music Orchestra, Ensemble Moto Perpetuo, Lunatics at Large, Kagel Nacht, Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas, Cheyenne Symphony, and the Greeley Philharmonic in venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Alice Tulley Hall, Merkin Hall, The Kennedy Center, Bargemusic (with tenor Robert White), and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. As a guest artist, she has appeared at Bloomsburg University and the University of Southern Maine. She has recorded on New Dynamic Records, Meta, Bridge, and Innova Records.

Roberta has been a Bang on a Can Summer Institute fellow and a participant in the Institute and Festival of Contemporary Performance at Mannes College, as well as participating in festivals at Banff and Domaine Forget. Roberta recently won the Artists International Special Presentation Award and was presented in her debut recital at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. Other awards include: Purchase College’s Baroque Concerto Competition, Bay Chamber Summer Music Woodwind Prize, Dante Alighieri Society of Denver Music Scholarship, and the Emily K. Rand Award.

*** Lesson Details ***
In my studio, I believe that my role is to steer students toward a deeper understanding of themselves, their instrument, and their relationship to music. I tailor my teaching to the needs of my individual students, who currently range from age 4 to adult, often adding improvisation and extended techniques to increase my students’ awareness of the potential of the flute as a channel for one’s creativity.

With over a decade of teaching and a doctorate in flute performance, I have extensive experience teaching flute lessons and recorder lessons to students from beginners to advanced. I teach at my studio in Brooklyn or can come to your home in New York City. I have previously taught in Colorado, Westchester, NY, and throughout New York City. I've been on faculty at The Harmony Program and the Denver Public School’s Saturday Music Program, where I taught beginning flute classes to public school children. I have given masterclasses at the University of Southern Maine and the Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts High School, and have taught music classes at Purchase College and Hostos Community College.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a studio with music stands, flutes, recorders, an upright piano, and place for parents to wait. Street parking is available, and I'm less than a block from the subway.

Students are expected to bring their instrument, music, and a notebook.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I bring my flute. Students need to have a music stand, music, a notebook, and a working instrument.

*** Specialties ***
I am well-versed in all areas of classical music, especially new music. My primary instrument is flute, but I also enjoy teaching beginner piano, recorder, and music theory.

Roberta was patient and was obviously an experienced teacher. I teach and I understand what it takes to put a lesson together so that the student gets the most out of it, while pushing the student to do better, but not too much to discourage them from moving forward. She hits that sweet spot! I would recommend her to anyone who was serious about learning.

Hey! I am a music teacher at North Little Rock School District. Beginning piano class will be based on goals set during the first lesson. We will talk about posture, technique, music fundamentals, ear training, and more. Cannot wait to help guide you as you grow as a musician!

About Micah
I have been teaching music and tutoring for a few years now!

I enjoy music so much! I received my degree from the University of Arkansas Little Rock. I am also a member of the worship band at my church.

One thing that I enjoy the most, as a teacher, is seeing growth and seeing students get that “aha” moment. The most amazing thing about teaching is being able to see the joy in students as they perform. They get to be themselves. Playing an instrument or singing is raw, vulnerable and takes a lot of hard work.

Being a musician is worth it. You get to be able to express yourself in ways impossible otherwise.

Please let me help you along your journey to become the musician you dream to be.

I also mentor/ tutor students at the middle school level in the four core subjects: Math, Science, English and History. I really enjoy w
orking one on one making sure that my students are setting goals and really understanding the material they should be studying.

I would love to teach music and do a little bit of math if you would like that for your child. I can also teach English while we play instruments or sing.

Please let me know if you have any questions! Cannot wait to meet you!

I am an intuitive teacher, helping students establish a lifelong appreciation for piano and vocal arts, enabling creative freedom through musical expression and songwriting. I also guide meditation and yoga practices aligned with each student independently. I love teaching our children of today, adults of tomorrow, so let's get started!

About Sarah Lynn
"Music is what feelings sound like." ~Anonymous

Music:
I am a lead vocalist, a pianist and a songwriter. I love all genres of music, harmonizing and songwriting are my passion.

I teach music outside the box by listening to the goals of my students and incorporating passion, inspiration, creativity, and imagination towards those goals. The proper techniques are easily taught in a fun, positive manner instead of something that most people dread to learn or practice.

There are so many different processes individuals use to learn, and being creative is an excellent catalyst to build and motivate learning experiences. I have been teaching piano, singing, composition and songwriting or over five amazing years.

Whilst attending Canyon Crest Academy, I spent 3 years in a vocal conservatory where I dedicated over one thousand hours of
extra-curricular activity in music theory, music history, and classical, operatic, and modern vocal practices. I spent 4 years being a member of their highly esteemed choir. I've been singing in choirs for sixteen years taking on solo roles. The Folklore Guild was a previous choral project I loved being a member of, and I have experience being in a band.

——————————————————————————————
Yoga:
When I was introduced to the world of Yoga, I instantly wanted to understand the historic background and benefits. My yogic journey began with practicing daily yoga at sunrise. Through Rachel Lubich’s School of Yoga, I received my 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training hosted by Trilogy Sanctuary in La Jolla, California.

Each path I take guides to seeing and understanding what Yoga means to me. Yoga is an opportunity to find harmony in my mind, body and spirit through my intentions, breath, actions, stillness, movement and music, mindfulness, meditation and truly listening to the highest vibratory version of who I Am on a breath-to-breath rhythm.

"Yoga is not a religion, but an inclusive lifestyle that guides to be the best version of one's Self. Yoga should be for the individual student." ~ Rachel Lubich

Students learning from more experienced students learning from more experienced students; my journey has only begun.

I have been teaching private piano lessons for five years, and I love working with children of all ages and skill levels. I have been playing the piano for 17 years, and began at a very young age. Because of this, I strongly believe that if there is a desire to learn, the age you start does not matter. I work well with both beginner level students and intermediate level students. I was taught using the Suzuki method, and I use parts of that method in my own teaching. I also incorporate basic music theory lessons into my teaching.

About Abigail
I'm currently a student at Eastman School of Music, majoring in Piano Performance. I began taking piano lessons when I was two years old and loved every minute of it. I enjoy working with children of all ages, and strongly believe that if there is a desire to learn, the age at which you begin does not matter.

I began teaching private piano lessons in 2014, and I have enjoyed it ever since. I have a passion for sharing my love of music with my students. I like to make my lessons fun, engaging, and informative so the students can get the most out of every lesson. I was taught using the Suzuki method, and I incorporate parts of that method into my own teaching.

I like to learn what other interests my students have as its easier for them to relate to something they are familiar with. As a piano student who also had a passion for ballet, I
appreciated it when my piano teacher found similarities between a musical gesture and ballet. it made it easier to understand what she was teaching me, and it was significant enough that I remembered it with ease.

I look forward to meeting you and working with you to further your musical education!
