I started my musical training as a pianist at YAMAHA institute at age 4 in Japan. I was selected to enter perfect pitch class. It was designated for students who have perfect pitch and potentials to be professional musicians.

I enjoyed playing piano and electric piano and won the 1st prize at Kitakantou Electric Piano Competition hosted by YAMAHA institute. Because of the intensive training, I have been accompanying my students' recitals and performance exams.

As much as I enjoyed playing piano, I discovered that I also love singing, so I started to take singing lessons and majored in vocal performance during my college days.

My international credits include performances under the direction of Conductor Laurent Pillot at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Liverpool, England;the Académie Internationale d'Eté de Nice, France; the Daniel Ferro Vocal Program in Chianti,Italy; the International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv, Israel where I was selected to sing for the Japanese Ambassador.

I made appearances as a soloist at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, Town Hall, and MOMA museum in New York City and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

As a versatile singer, I was presented as an aspiring opera singer on the website of Maybelline New York. Her voice was featured in short films for the Japanese technology company NEC. I appeared as a soprano soloist for the opera, Jazz and theater collaboration of "TAKE ABITE" by David Antonio Cruz. I also sings Broadway songs and continues her musical theater studies. She is an active recitalist and also performs Oratorio works.

I was also a finalist at the Opera Idol Competition at Lincoln Center in New York City, The Hariclea Darclée Voice Competition in Romania and the Mario Lanza and Elaine Malbin Vocal Competition in New York City. Ms. Uchida was selected as a vocal scholarship recipient at Savannah music festival.

My upcoming engagement includes singing the role of Gilda in Rigoletto and Oscar in Un ballo in maschera in 2018 in New York City.

Besides being an opera singer, I have been teaching piano and voice for 11 years. I would like to share my skills and experience with you. Since I perform often, I can coach you how to perform on stage in addition to building solid technique and languages. Also, I have taught various kinds of music, such as Rock, Broadway musicals, Pop music, so we can work on all kind of music.

My daughter started taking online signing lessons with Asuka a few weeks ago and we have seen dramatic improvements in her voice. Asuka was able to guide my daughter away from singing in a way that would potentially damage her voice towards a strong technique with a beautiful tone. Her voice is now well supported and getting better every week. My daughter really adores Asuka as she is really easy to get along with and is great with kids.

All students are required to learn the basics in piano, such as,
the lines, spaces in both clefs, time signatures, note values.
Once the students have mastered the above, they can go on to learn
major and minor scales along with music pieces.
Students play songs that are in the John Thompson book and also

I generally use the Schirmer and Thompson books for piano lessons. I don't consider myself strict but I do expect students to practice at least an hour a day.
3-6 months I do expect them to be able to start playing the piano and to know their notes and their locations.

I am one of those individuals for whom teaching is just something that I have to do. I started giving music lessons sometime in the 80's and have loved working with all levels of skill and experience. My students say that I am patient, adaptive and encouraging, committed to making music fun.

I have a Masters of Music from New England Conservatory in Jazz Piano and am comfortable and fluent in a number of musical styles, including pop, rock, gospel, traditional hymnody, jazz, and R&B. Although I love and study classical music, it is not something I teach at this point.

In addition to private lessons and performing, I do music transcription, workshops, and all forms of vocal and instrumental arranging. Bil Mooney-McCoy is a life-long Boston resident who has been playing music all his life. Having served as a church musician for more
than 30 years, I am currently the Director of Worship for the chapel at Gordon College, a small Christian school north of Boston. I'm often involved in city-wide music events in Boston’s faith-based community and in demand as a featured musician for church services, parties, concerts and other events.

My priority as a teacher is to make the learning process fun, life-giving, and productive. I teach with patience and humor, at a challenging but not frustrating pace.

There are at least two ways that might set me apart from other teachers.

Firstly, I have honed and developed "people skills". I am an ordained minister and have held positions where I was formally and informally in a mentoring/pastoring role. I bring that sensitivity to my music lessons, understanding that personal and emotional issues can be triggered by the engagement with the music and skills being worked on.

Secondly, I've had a remarkable broad base of experience. My coursework has exposed me to a wide breadth of ideas and tools; my work life has been long and varied; I have had extensive experience in many different cultural contexts, both musically and otherwise; and I work well with many age groups and skill levels.

Regarding my teaching approach:
For beginners, I have a fairly consistent set of topics and skill sets to cover. Generally, in a few months, piano students (particularly those in middle school through adulthood) should know how to play major, minor and seventh chords, how to read simple chord charts and some very basic accompanying skills. Guitar students should know a dozen open chords and have been introduced to barre chords, and to have learned several styles of finger picking as well as strumming. Bass students should know how to find notes on the board and will have begun to learn how to fill out a song with an expressive but non-obtrusive bass line.

For intermediate students, the pace, direction and focus on lessons depends upon the goals and passions of the student along with the amount of time he or she has to practice. My goals for students at this level and beyond is to learn how to learn. I will use outstanding recorded examples of particular skills or stylistic idioms to help my students understand and master each new concept. I often will check in with my student to make sure that we are on track with what they are hoping for.

For advanced students, we will generally target very specific objectives. I also try to add elements of theory, history, culture, and even life lessons to apply to the topics we address. Because of my background in pastoral ministry, I can serve as a mentor addressing the emotional and relational issues of playing music as well as its technical aspects.

I have been teaching this subject for over 16 years. The main curriculum for beginners is Alfred's Basic Piano Library. There are three beginner levels (beginner, late, adult) and one will be selected after the first meeting. For non-beginning students, the course of study will be developed based on past experience, current abilities, and goals. It is not necessary to know how to read music at the first lesson for beginners. However, learning to read is a part of subsequent lessons. Music is not learned "by ear." A certain amount of theory will be a part of every lesson just as technique and repertoire. Students should come to the first lesson prepared to discuss their background & goals and the plan of their course of study.

About Troy
Composer Troy W. graduated from the New England Conservatory, earning his Bachelors, Masters (cum laude) and Graduate Diploma while studying with mentor Malcolm Peyton. After spending a year studying with Lukas Foss in Boston, Mr. W. moved to Houston in 2001 where he continued graduate studies at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music.

During his time as a teacher with the Michael P. Hammond Preparatory Program at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, Troy taught classes in music fundamentals and music theory for pre-college students. He has also served on the faculty of the Summer Institute for Piano teaching courses in Form & Analysis for pre-college students.

Troy also has maintained a private studio, tutoring and teaching private lessons in composition, ear training, voice, piano, literature, and history for over ten
years. Students who have studied with him come from a wide range of backgrounds with different goals. Those who have continued with musical studies in college have consistently placed out of at least the first two semesters of music theory and achieved advanced placement in their chosen fields of study. Those who chose a different path continue to benefit from the education and training they received from taking music lessons.

*** Lesson Details ***
There is no "standard formula" to lessons. Each student has their own unique background, needs, and goals. Lessons tend to be somewhat casual but are structured in such a way as to meet the unique requirements of the student.

To accomplish your goals, there are a few requirements and basic expectations that the student and parent must meet.
The first is practice. Students are expected to practice daily for at least the length of their lesson time. This, above all else, is essential to progress. It is also expected that a parent will attend lessons for students who are too young to drive themselves here. It's important for a parent to guide the student's practice time (particularly for younger students) to ensure that the most is gained from it. This is why I ask that a parent observe lessons.
Each student or parent should bring to each lesson a notebook, pencils (with erasers). The notebook will be used to record notes about each lesson, homework, practice advice, etc. Pencils (not pens...nobody's perfect!) are used by composers to record their creations and performers to mark their music. Both of these essential practices are subject to changing thought and must be open to change. So no ink, please!

Performers: It is not necessary to know how to read music at the first lesson for beginners. However, learning to read is required for subsequent lessons and will be a large focus for all non-readers. Lessons are not learned "by ear." A certain amount of theory will be a part of every lesson just as technique and repertoire. Concerning repertoire, it will be selected based on the student's learning needs but also with their input. The main emphasis on performance lessons, however, will be technique and reading. Students should come to the first lesson prepared to discuss their background & goals and the plan of their course of study.
Note: Voice students must be at least 16 years of age.

Composers: Just as with performers, it is not necessary to know how to read music at the first lesson. However, learning to read is required for subsequent lessons. Many young composers have great ideas but can only hear them in their heads or play them on an instrument. Lessons will allow you to obtain the skills to write them down with greater speed, accuracy, and clarity. More advance students will also include exploring a wider range of harmonic languages, advanced notation, instrumentation, orchestration, and aural skills. Students should come to the first lesson with examples of their work, either written, notated, or recorded in a digital format. They should be prepared to discuss their background & goals and the plan of their course of study.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
• To reschedule a lesson, more than one day notice is required.

• Make up lessons must be scheduled before the next regular lesson.

• A make up lesson cannot be scheduled in place of a regular lesson.

• If, for any reason, two 30-minute lessons are scheduled one right after the other, they will be charged as two 30-minute lessons, not one 60 minute lesson which is a different rate.

• If, for any reason, two 45-minute lessons are scheduled one right after the other, they will be charged as two 45-minute lessons, not one 90 minute lesson which is a different rate.

So far, I look forward to each lesson! Troy is very kind, yet very helpful and has helped me target on my personal goals with opera while also learning more each time! I highly recommend him. It doesn't matter if you have no experience in voice or only experience in voice ( as my experience is theatre and musical theatre), he is patient in helping you achieve the goals set. David is a very skilled drummer and a very enthusiastic teacher. In lessons, he seems to like to split time between practicing rudiments and learning to play different rhythms on the set. He is also exceptionally patient and supportive with my 9-year-old, highly distractible daughter. Hello, My name is Dominic and I'm from Derry NH. I have been playing drums for many years, but I have been a serious, practicing drummer since December 2014. I have recently taken up piano in September 2015. I spend an average of 4-6 hours everyday practicing between the two instruments. Usually two hours each. Occasionally much more. I am very knowledged in the craft of practicing and love to share my knowledge of drums, drumming, piano and music in general. I am currently enrolled at northern Essex community college (necc) as a music performance major with plans of transferring to New England Conservatory (NEC) in Boston or Southern University of New York, (suny Purchase). My daughter is making great progress not only in music but also in school! Piano lessons help my child with consentration as well as memory. She really loves Mrs Iryna and is always looking forward to her next lesson. The convenience of Iryna coming to our house for lessons helps out our busy family tremendously!

I am the mother of one of Iryna's Students. She is an excellent piano teacher. My children went thru several piano teachers before we found Iryna and she has been the best. She really takes the time to explain and does it in a way that makes it easier for the student to understand. She is patient and allows the student to learn at their own pace. I would strongly recommend her.

I AM STRONG ON MUSIC THEORY AND FUNDEMENTALS. TO BECOME A GOOD STUDENT YOU HAVE TO BUILD A FOUNDATION ONE STEP AT A TIME. I DO USE DIFFERENT APPROACHES IN TEACHING DEPENDING ON WHERE THE STUDENT WANTS TO GO.

I took organ lessons from Richard for 4 1/2 years..Rich is a very good instructor...he would start each lesson going over what we worked on last week, move to music theory, teach me new material, technique, chords, melody...a complete music experience...when I left for the army, Rich continues to come to my families home to teach my mom organ for several years. Great Teacher...very knowledgeable...nice person. I would recommend Richard to anyone interested in learning the organ. Rob P.

I have been taking keyboard and organ lessons from Richard for the past 4 years. He is professional, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about music and teaching. His approach to teaching is building a foundation and building concept upon concept. He knows his stuff, and is a true professional!!!

I am so pleased to have Richard teaching my 8 year old daughter how to play electronic piano. He is a very educated in his profession. My daughter looks forward to her lesson each week. I can see that she enjoys her lesson and Rich makes it fun for her while she is learning. He often stays a few minutes longer than he should to make sure my daughter understands her lesson
