My students excel in everything they do because of the techniques we learn that incorporate skills to strengthen learning in subjects including: math, science, languages, reading, writing, creativity and many more life long skills. I challenge my students and encourage them to have fun most of all in pursuing their passions for music.

We play games and activities to help each student develop their piano potential. Currently we're playing water balloon games with rhythms, notes on the piano and staff. The students love how piano lessons can be incorporated outside. Providing opportunities to play in the community, that produces more experience and confidence as a pianist.

*Learn fundamentals of how to play, yet allowing students to learn other styles of piano music they are interested in.
*Students complete tasks and musical concepts to help them succeed as a musician.
*Spend time creating and composing new songs through games and activities, including Crazy Critter Composing.
*We make up songs about events that happen each day.

I have been playing piano since age 3 and teaching for 10 years. I believe it is very important to understand the theory that goes along with what you are playing, so I include some theory in all of my lessons. I love teaching piano and I hope to share the joy of music with others.

I am a fully self-taught pianist...until I went to college that is. After 15 years of struggling to reach the highest levels of playing I could achieve, I have collected a few gold nuggets of secrets to make piano learning a LOT more fun and easier to understand. My approach to teaching is simple: if you're not having fun while trying to perfect your favorite song, I am not doing my job well enough. I always adapt my teaching style to fit the student's personality, mood and learning style (even on a week to week basis). I truly enjoy seeing the student SHINE and get excited about mastering a hard part in a song or playing both hands for the first time; if the student is happy and excited, I am happy and excited for them!

I have been teaching private Piano, Brass and Woodwind lessons over the last 10 years and have been a professional musician since I was in High School. I believe a balance of instrument playing, ear training, and theory are important in learning music. My experience allows me to help students build a foundation on their instrument and music knowledge that gives them the potential to have a lifelong appreciation and skill. This experience also allows me to cater to each individual student allowing me to manage each lesson towards their individual needs and desires.
