Certified to teach Music Theory

Currently perform traditional classical music, jazz and blues standards.

About Aleena
I've been teaching piano and art for 7 years and I've been associated with TakeLessons for 6 of those years in 2 different cities. I am able to travel during certain times and I also have studio and online availability. ***Although my training was in classical music, I currently compose and perform a variety of genres besides classical.

I get so much gratification teaching and music improves math and other cognitive skills. I'm an encouraging and flexible teacher because every student is different and requires their own focus and individualized lesson plan. My teaching style includes the classical method and basic to intermediate theory integrated with contemporary methods.

I also employ an enjoyable environment and open communication with parents/guardians and adult students.

****One of my students was a 16 years old virtuoso i
n classical guitar. He came to me because he never learned how to sight read. Within 6 months he was writing his own music and decided to change his specialty from guitar to piano.
*****Another one of my students was told he would never be able to "sight read" which is to read music from paper but he was reading music and within a few months he was writing it himself.

I look forward to helping you reach your goals! I encourage anyone who is interested in learning to begin lessons with the knowledge that they can eventually create any kind of art they desire.
I continue to perform and create which enables me to sharpen and maintain my skills.

I hope to have an opportunity to meet you soon and I encourage you to ask any questions you have!!!

*****I highly encourage scheduling only 30 minutes for children younger than 12 and beginners of other ages. Students are more likely to focus and enjoy their lessons when they are shorter in the beginning. They can always be extended later.

I have studied music, voice and piano for over 12 years and my students have gone on to develop a deep love of music. Within the first few lessons, you'll start to read music and play simple songs. As time goes on, you'll be able play at an intermediate level. I specialize in vocal training and music theory as well. I have the following tools available for your lessons: recording equipment, worksheets, textbooks, and more. I love working with students of all ages!

About Kiki
Raised just 30 minutes away from America's Entertainment Capital, Hollywood, California I have always had a draw to the performance spotlight. I started singing at the young age of 5 and since then, have received training from some of the world's finest instructors, including Tony Award Winner Lisa Seegmiller. I studied music vocal performance at Southern Utah University on a full scholarship with emphasis in opera and musical theater.

Some of my vocal accomplishments include first place winner in musical theater/classical divisions of the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition in 2005 and 2009 Las Vegas chapter. I made my first television singing debut in 2003 when I was invited to sing the National Anthem at the Paradise Bowl. I have also sung with both the Orchestra of Southern Utah and Southwest Symphony as a sopr
ano soloist in their performances of Handel's Messiah.

My love for the performing arts has given me the drive to teach what I love to others. I opened my very first studio over 12 years ago in Southern Utah while attending Dixie State University. I have since opened studios in Las Vegas, Kansas City area, and finally in 2014 Austin, Texas. In 2011 I was hired as the resident music director for Kids in the Round theater company until May 2013. My students have been cast in lead roles at many regional theater companies across the country as well as projects for TV and film. My young students are regularly cast in lead roles in their middle school and high school productions and selected to be apart of chamber choirs and selective performance groups.

Come and join my studio! I'd love to teach you!

About Steven
Steven B, Instructor
PIANO - GUITAR - VOICE
For over 25 years, Steven B has been successfully teaching hundreds of students on piano, guitar, and voice. He has over 60,000 hours experience as a teacher, musician, and performer. He teaches all styles, ages and skill levels. Beginners are most certainly welcome. The lessons are in the convenience of your home online throughout the United States with Multi-angle cameras for online students or in the Coronado Music Studio. Whatever your level, be prepared to learn and have fun!

In addition, he tailors the lessons to fit your goals and desires for your instrument, whether it be piano, guitar, and or voice! (Many of his students take lessons on two instruments, for example Guitar & Voice or Piano & Voice.) You may be wanting to learn your instrument from the beginning, and then finding out
your passion for a certain genre of music, or possibly learning and playing songs you love. In another example, you may have been playing for a period of time and possibly you desire to heighten your game, learning new skills and technique regarding your instrument. Or quite possibly, you want to blend the joy of singing while playing the piano or the guitar! It's time to go through the joy and benefits in playing a musical instrument and or singing!

PERFORMANCE
Steven B has extensive experience in performance. For many years, he performed piano and sang at many fine establishments throughout San Diego and Los Angeles. Later on, he produced a concert tour and performed 50 concerts to 15,000 young people throughout San Diego. The title of his concert tour is Heroes In Our World. Steven B played keyboards, guitar and sang. The concerts honored real-life moms, dads, doctors, nurses, teachers, athletes, entertainers who give back to charity, police officers, firemen, and explorers who make our world a better place. His list of performances continues. He has a record of being the only musician to write a song, produce it, playing the instruments and vocals, along with filming and editing the videos of the performances each week for 52 consecutive weeks. His students benefit because he teaches many aspects in performance and can prepare students for any kind of audition or performance.

In conclusion, whether you want to learn to play an instrument and/or sing just for your own benefit and joy... Or you want to perform... Or you want to be professional earning money with music - you have come to the correct place. He will be looking forward in working with you. Again, he teaches all styles, ages and skill levels. Beginners are most welcome. He currently has one or two openings for new students.

Reviews From Students and Parents (Piano - Guitar - Voice)

“I just wanted to say Thank You and let you know how much I appreciate all the information and help you have given Mikey. You helped him form a great hobby that he loves to do and the family loves to hear. He has come so far since his first lesson and I am happy you kept the Piano lessons interesting for him. Thanks again for being a kind, great teacher to him.” - Cheryl, 5 Stars!

“Steven B, a patient, gifted teacher has supervised my studies on guitar with good humor, wit and flexibility.  I would recommend him without hesitation to players young and old.” - Tim, 5 Stars!

“I took voice and piano lessons in Steven B’s Coronado Music Studio and also online via Skype.  Both experiences were great, and it was really convenient to do the lessons on Skype.  Steven B is an excellent teacher, and he is very patient.  I recommend him to anyone who wants to learn to play an instrument or sing!” - Kat , 5 Stars!

“Steven B’s fun and patient teaching style rocks. I see how his bright, fun-loving personality, and knowledge of music for piano makes him top choice as my daughter’s music instructor.” - Anthony, 5 Stars!

“Steven B is a wonderful teacher!  He is talented, always enthusiastic, and extremely motivational! Each lesson is designed specifically for our daughter Kelsey's ability and desired genre of music! Kelsey began guitar and vocal lessons in the Coronado studio and is now taking lessons via Skype since our move to Virginia.  The lessons are convenient, affordable, and productive. We are excited to be able to still have Steven B as her guitar and vocal teacher!” - Amy, 5 Stars!

“I came to Steven B as a beginner in piano and I took the piano lessons on my Casio keyboard. I just wanted to learn my favorite songs. Steven B got me into the music I really enjoy!  In only three months, I was able to play and sing a song I truly love titled “Angel” from Sarah McLachian.  My teacher said I performed it as well as the artist. My friends, loved my performance of the song!” - Katrina, 5 Stars!

“My son has taken guitar and voice lessons with Steven B for the last year.  We are pleased with classes and the improvement we've seen in comparison to a previous instructor.  Steven B is punctual and extremely respectful of the time and money it takes to provide lessons.  He can be counted on to be both friendly and professional.  He comes prepared for lessons and expects the same of his students.  If you are serious about learning and improving your skills, we highly recommend him.” - Christina, 5 Stars!

“My time in being instructed by Steven B on piano was a great, informative experience. Ever since the first lesson, he is a very good teacher that clearly knows what he is doing. Mr. Bruce taught me at my own pace, taking time to help me work on skills, especially small details that help me perform much better. He is a very skilled instructor, teaching me pieces from not only music books that he provides, but also the valuable skill of learning by ear, a skill few other teachers bother to touch on. Steven B has helped on a number of occasions with songs that I am learning on my own and fit time into our lessons to work on them. He is always willing to let the student work on what they like as well as what he gives out. When I once mentioned my liking for jazz, we soon started an in-depth series of lessons into the genre, teaching me much more than I ever knew prior to it. I’ve never felt pressured by my assignments and pieces to bring home, as Steven B knows everyone goes at their own pace and can take anytime from a few days to a few weeks to learn a song. My time with him was a very fun and informative time that I thoroughly enjoyed.” - Michael, 5 Stars!

Steven B. is an exceptional piano teacher. He knows how to motivate and encourage a student, and is very accommodating with regard to a student's particular interests.
One of his most outstanding teaching features is that he has an entirely unique approach to ear training (playing by ear). He creates customized playing-by-ear, step-by-step, walk-through recordings--which he professionally produces in his home studio.
These recordings break down a piece in such a way which allows a student to learn how to recognize intervals, chords, chord inversions, melodic lines, and more.
I cannot emphasize enough the (often under-appreciated) value of such ear training for students at all levels.

I'm not here to make a performance major out of every student. I'm here to teach students to love to learn music with the natural talents they already have! If they love to learn this will carry on into every other subject that they need to learn! It's proven that playing music is the number one thing parents can involve their children in to help them become better thinkers.

About Lisa
After graduating from college with a degree in education I was determined to change the course of the education for my own family. I was the first on either side of my entire family (all generations) ever to go to a university and graduate. I came from very humble hard working (yes bullheaded Irish) people. As a naturally highly creative person the school system was not a nurturing place at all for me. As a deeply right brained visual person the left brained system was toxic for my creativity and I struggled to thrive and be myself.

For the past 21 years I've dedicated my time, energy, creativity to home schooling my own two children and supporting them in their academic quests as well as teaching them life skills. Thankfully, I had the opportunity not to put either of them in day care one day. My focused sacrifice has been int
ense, serious, determined and planned.

The ignorant verbal flack I encountered, during these years was insane, but I didn't waver. I believe in one on one education customized for each child and knew from the start what I wanted to accomplish with both of them! I wanted them to learn how to learn with their personalities, natural strengths and talents but I had to observe and implement very different parenting and teaching techniques with both from birth.

Yes, my hard unwavering work has paid off and is continuing to pay off. Both of my children walked into their first college courses at age 14...yes, real college classes on real college campuses! Both are honor students and my first will finish his degree in English Lit/Creative Writing at UNC Asheville in Dec 2016 at age 21!

All that to say...private piano lessons are nothing more than home schooling. I bring the same customized passion I used for my own children to teach yours! Not only do I have an education degree I have a proven track record of teaching children how they uniquely need to learn whether it's visually, audio, or kinetically etc. I know how to challenge them and make them work...even the super smart lazy ones!

After each lesson I take a few moments to consult the parent(s) about the lesson and what needs to be accomplished during the students next practice week. You need to be aware of their education because they grow rapidly and there is much to accomplish before they attend college! Do some research on the benefits of learning and playing music if you are not a musician yourself. It's incredible what it will do for the development of their brain little brains!

Apparently, I'm not allowed my customary studio "meet and greet" with Takelessons. I have studio rules that must be followed and if they aren't I will not continue to teach your children. You must have a piano or keyboard for them to regularly practice on and believe me I know when they don't practice. I know what method books I like to teach from so I'll be happy to share that information with you. If you don't have any I cannot start the lessons without them. They must be purchased before hand.
There are other rules so please message me first so that we can discuss them first so that there is no confusion about the studio policies. This isn't a hobby this is serious valuable education for your child.

I don't have the time nor the energy to deal with unprofessional parents because my time and energy goes fully towards teaching amazing students.

I look forward to passionately educating you or... those you love!

Lisa

For children I start with a beginning method book, then I introduce the fundamentals and work at the speed of the student. If a student has a favorite tune from an artist, band, or a movie I will find them an arrangement that best suits their level. I feel that incorporating songs they are familiar with helps them advance quicker and gives motivation for practice. For adults, I find their musical goals and guide them to pieces that will help them advance quickly but still be fun and interesting.

About Amy
I am a piano instructor with a love for creativity. I am a singer-songwriter, music producer in an EDM duo. I incorporate songwriting and music theory in my teaching methods.

Over the years, I have taken many private music classes through community colleges and online courses and have had internships at music studios. I've performed as an artist at different venues and played weekly for 3,000 high school students at a huge church in Riverside, CA.

My teaching experience starts back at the age of 17 when my private instructor encouraged me to start teaching. I've been teaching for over 12 years now and love sharing the joy of music with others. I started private piano lessons at the age of 6 and started writing songs and teaching myself music production when I was 13. My grandpa turned my dad's garage into a music studio for me when
I was 16, and I started teaching piano lessons from my parents home in Riverside soon after.

I now teach in the San Fernando Valley.

I teach you how to play piano through popular music you hear on the radio and the great classics. Whether you are 5 years of age or 85 years of age, I can make learning piano an enjoyable worthwhile experience for you! We can incorporate music theory, standard & jazz voicings (how to play a chord to make it sound good) and fun ways to train your ear. My goal is to foster a joy for learning proper technique so I can hand you off to an intermediate teacher.

About Valerie
Hello! My name is Valerie and I would love to talk with you about creating a lesson plan just right for you! I graduated from University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music in Vocal Jazz Performance. My teachers were incredible, some Grammy winners and nominees, and I would love to pass on their wisdom as well as impart my own knowledge and experience of 14+ years of singing professionally, songwriting, touring, recording etc. My songs have been featured in independent film and professional websites. Not only will you be playing songs in no time, but you will be building a strong foundation of note reading, music theory, ear training, sight reading, technique, and more. Let's get started!

I also currently sing with Cantorum Chamber Singers, a group that performs a wide variety of music for many diverse audiences.
