I love the piano, outside of singing, playing the organ, it is my favorite instrument. I began the study of the instrument at age six, so I strive to have the student bond with this instrument. It is a reflection of one's soul. I teach note and rote, along with ear training. Rhythm is an integral part of my piano methodology. A student will usually see results within the first six months! Note: I recommend beginning students start no earlier than 6 years old. At that time they've adopted to a self contained environment and can sit and focus for at least 30 minutes.

I come from a very musical family and have years of professional gigging experience with cover bands, mostly rock and pop, but also country, folk, indie, jazz, blues. I teach and love classical piano as well! All levels are welcome. First I will help you find the method book and level that is appropriate for you, then I help you plan out your goals. My studio has recitals every 3 months. I like to focus heavily on rhythm reading skills as a foundation for all instruments I teach, and once you have that down, reading music is easy!! :)

I have played piano since I was five-years-old. I had an amazing teacher who was always engaging and fun -- I strive to be like her with my students. I generally use Alfred or Bastian Methods to start out and then adjust according to my students' needs. I encourage daily practice and always am willing to consult with parents of younger students on how to implement this. I also love to encourage my students to chose music they'd like to learn!
About Becca
I am a friendly, outgoing, and passionate music teacher! I play the harp and piano and absolutely love to spread the joy of music. I started playing the harp because my grandmother was a harpist and I thought it was the most beautiful instrument. After all these years, I still love the amazing soun

Although we follow the lessons in a piano book Sue adds additional insight and helpful tips about the lesson at hand. She gives you tips on finger positioning, keeping the same pace while playing songs, and much more that you can't get from just a book. Even if you plan on learning mainly through a book I'd suggest taking a few lessons from Sue as well to compliment your study habits and to make sure you're learning everything correctly. Sometimes she also provides some interesting information about the song you are learning like it's backstory and it's popularity which I find great additional information.
Sue is very patient and lets you learn at a pace that is comfortable for you. I've never felt any pressure while taking a lesson and enjoy the setup she has in her home. Again, if you are looking for a piano lesson, no matter your experience level, I think you'll be happy having Sue as a teacher."
