I started playing piano at age seven when my mother enrolled me in lessons. I have been playing ever since, and I absolutely love it. I began teaching private piano lessons in 2003, and have taught many thousands of lessons since that time. I have experience accompanying choirs, instrumentalists, and vocalists, as well as playing as a soloist in various piano competitions and recitals. I recently began taking lessons in jazz piano, a genre I never learned much about. I believe it is never too late to learn something new, and I am excited to start this new chapter of my musical life and to use this new knowledge to enhance my own teaching.

In my piano lessons I use the Faber's fabulous Piano Adventures series. In my opinion, they are the best books on the market, emphasizing reading by intervals as opposed to memorizing note names. This method minimizes student frustration while also decreasing the amount of time it takes a student to read a new song. Piano Adventures also focuses ...

Angela is the most inspiring teacher I've ever had. Aside from having played the violin for a year prior, I was a complete adult beginner on piano. My passion is Baroque-era keyboard works, and Angela immediately got me started on Bach Prelude No. 2 from 12 Little Preludes. Within 12 lessons, I was able to play the entire piece with ease. Before starting with Angela, If you would have told me that in under 12 weeks I'd be playing Bach, I'd have called you crazy. Angela's strong suit is that she is confident that you can play any piece you put your mind to, regardless of experience, while inspiring and motivating you to do so.

Aside from technique, each lesson was equivalent to a college course in music theory. She understands that technique is only half of playing an instrument and the importance of knowing the reason each note falls where it does. This may sound overwhelming, but Angela never gives you more than you can handle, while challenging you to improve at a rapid pace. It was an extremely gratifying experience and I am thrilled at the progress that I made in under a year.

My lessons are unique in that I make studying piano enjoyable and beginners start to feel the love of music, and want to succeed. I get beginners {adults or children playing pieces very quickly. Sight-reading and theory are incorporated into beginning lessons {students do not realize they are learning these}. Later theory is taught as a separate part of the lesson. In the 15 years I have taught, most beginning students are playing at a 3rd year level at the end of one year. Intermediate and advanced students learn history of the composers works they are playing, and how the composes' lives affect the interpretation. I teach the technique need for a piece. I do not have my students practicing scales and other rote exercises. My students learn all the technique need as part of the pieces they are working on.

I was a combined piano performance and theory major at Texas Christian University. I was fortunate to have studied with some of the best teachers in the world, including Mme. Christina is a PRO musician!! And an encouraging/super talented person! In just a matter of minutes, I knew that I was in professional hands and trusted her to really help me with my vocal training, be that classical, musical theater, or other genres. She's an astounding piano teacher as well, which is always a plus. I look forward to our next session and applying more of her teachings, which I've noticed already helping. Definitely worth every penny!!

I chose Sally to teach my granddaughter the fundamentals of piano playing and she's done a amazing job . I have to commend Ms. Sally on her knowledge and patience on her teaching ability. I would highly recommend Ms.Sally to any of my friends and or relatives
Kaitlin Oliveri
Sally has truly been the most wonderful instructor! I started taking lessons a few months ago with her. I played piano when I was younger but I wanted to get back into playing before my twins arrive. I am almost 8 months pregnant at this point and Sally has been kind, compassionate and so helpful in helping me remember the piano skills I didn't know I had in me and haven't used in many years. She challenged me, taught me things I never learned when I was younger and helped me improve across every lesson. I'd highly recommend Sally as a piano instructor for all ages and skill levels and I look forward to working with her again in the future!

4 Ways Piano Competitions Make You a Better Player

What do the best piano players have in common? Most of them have participated in piano competitions, exams (like the ABRSM), or recitals. Here, St. Augustine, FL teacher Heather L. explores the benefits of piano competitions...   Competition of all kinds gets a bad rap nowadays. In dozens of counties and hundreds of schools across the country, competitiveness is under fire. Students and young athletes are being told that participation and team building are all that counts, and therefore …
