I received my DMA in piano performance from University of Michigan and I've been teaching for about 7 years. I'm an active concert pianist so my specialty is in mastering the advanced classical repertoire, but I'm also very comfortable with guiding beginners of all ages. In addition to technical instruction I also am well versed in theory, composition and music history and I like to incorporate these subjects into my lessons according to each student's interest. Whatever your personal goals with the piano, I can help you get there!
About Cole
I am a concert pianist and educator. My focus is on classical repertoire. I've been playing for about 26 years or so, and concertizing for about 20 years. I started seriously applying myself to teaching 7 years ago, when I began my doctorate at University of Michigan. Over the years I’ve br

Piano is the absolute best instrument to learn at an early age. My speciality is working with ages 5-12 as they learn about fingerings, notes, and even a bit of ear-training. Helping students learn to embrace music and even create their own sound is a gift.

My enthusiastic teaching style makes learning music with me fun & exciting. My philosophy is to teach the individual by customizing the Music curriculum to the specific needs of the student. As partners in learning, the student will achieve the highest success through positive reinforcement & a positive learning environment. Students can expect to have their love of music nurtured as they gain technical competency through our lessons.

In my lessons I really listen to my students especially when it comes to the type of music that they want to learn. Many times they will bring ideas to me that they have heard or seen. I do insist on reading and using the music as a tool to improve on sight reading, rhythm and other basic studies of music. I try to make it enjoyable and fun and not a stressful experience.
About Kimberly

Very much at ease. She is looking forward to her next lesson!!"
I came in as a low intermediate player and after only a few lessons I feel much more confident! My sight-reading and technique approved a great deal in a short amount of time."

I get anxiety when I perform, even privately. She really helps me feel comfortable and helps me not worry about making mistakes. I like a lot of different kinds of music, and she's great about being willing to work on anything I bring up to her, while also helping me stay focused. She helps me create goals, so I can actually see progression."
