I've been teaching piano now for 15 years. My goal is for the student to learn to play by feel in addition to reading music. A standard lesson would consist of some playing in books and going over some music theory followed by playing by feel. This would include blues, jazz, and rock grooves. My approach is creative and customized to the prospective student. The student needs to enjoy learning the piano. A happy student is a successful one.
About Paul
I am a musician who has played in many bands. My primary instrument is piano and voice. I also play rhythm guitar. My current group is a "Who" tribute band, performing a complete history of the rock group, The Who. Please check out our website magicbustour.com I play by ear but also read music.

Teaching private piano lessons for 30 years to students of all ages and levels. I make learning to play piano fun and rewarding. Playing piano is “playful”. My students learn how to read music, or chord method plus the reason why musicians excel in speed, reading, memorization, and ability. With a good technic, your fingers will dance on the keys. Weekly lesson plans are created to center on your desires and needs. You will develop expressive playing and how to “feel” the music. As a patient and supportive teacher, I am a member of The National Guild of Piano Teachers and the National Federation of Music Clubs and able to prepare a student to participate in these events if they so desire. I also write monthly music articles for the South Walton Life newspaper in Santa Rosa Beach, FL.

For beginning piano students, I use Marilyn Lowe's Music Moves for Piano series. If a student already has purchased piano books or has piano books from an older sibling, I would not ask the student to purchase more books until we had used what they already had to its full capacity. For adults and older beginners, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level.

She practices using the Alexander Method. Her expertise in how the body affects the voice actually gave me a ton of useful information to successfully identify the cause of some chronic health/pain issues (although she never offers medical advice, I was able to integrate her feedback about what was affecting the quality of my voice into medical care with my Drs).
Thanks Ceste!

Ivan is passionate about music. His love for the art is evident in his enthusiastic and energetic teaching techniques. He is exceedingly patient with all students, encourages them, and coaxes the very best effort from each one. Although he is one of the best music teachers in the zone, his prices are extremely reasonable. In my opinion, he is worth every penny he charges, and I certainly believe I have received excellent service for my money.
It is my great pleasure to recommend Ivan Shallal as a music teacher. I am tremendously grateful to him for everything he has taught my daughter."

Ms Sandra is very compassionate teacher, my 4 and half year old is shy kid but he felt at home with Ms Sandra. At times I thought lessons were challenging but the teacher made it easy to learn as well as provided sufficient challenge to him. She worked with him with his pace of learning and encouraging at times to do more practice. I would recomand her to anyone."

Is your child's piano practice falling by the wayside? Make sure he or she continues to get the most out of piano lessons with these practice scheduling tips from Saint Augustine, FL piano teacher Heather L... The concern that I hear the most from my students' parents regarding their children's piano lessons is practicing and schedules. A parent will tell me, "She's just not practicing." The child then replies, "I had so much/many homework/sports games/club meetings that I forgot." …
