About Andrew

Andrew started playing piano at the tender age of 3. His mom wanted him to spend his endless energy on something artistic so she started him on piano lessons. Very early on it was clear Andrew had a natural, unique ability to connect with the piano. He played in school bands throughout grade school

I’ve been delighted with my lessons with Semyon from day one. I had studied classical piano as a child but took a hiatus of several decades, and was somewhat nervous about starting up again. Semyon has put me at ease, and is so enthusiastic and encouraging, it’s contagious. He also has a focus on technique that I was looking for (scales and Hanon so far, which I know I need!). He knows his stuff but doesn’t overwhelm me with too much too soon. As an adult student, I couldn’t be more pleased with my choice and highly recommend him.
Patricia
As a retiree who has recently returned to piano after a decades-long hiatus, I knew I’d need a teacher with experience teaching adults. Semyon is proving to be excellent. He is a skilled musician and teacher whose approach combines enjoyable piano pieces, exercises for agility and the fundamentals of scales and theory. He is patient and responsive to what I want to accomplish. I have learned in each lesson, seen improvement each week, and enjoy the diversity of assignments. In short, i’m having a grand time and highly recommend him.

Very patient and seems to enjoy teaching

Chris is the most talented guitar teachers that I know. He has played out regularly and has the drive and know-how to prep you to play out. He knows theory and can explain the "why" of how things are played. His style is smooth and fluid. I would recommend him to every level of player as he is extremely knowledgeable and has a great deal of patience.
He books up quickly! Book your time slot before his schedule gets full!

One of the things that I love the most about this teacher is that he makes you trust in yourself. He pushes you until you know that, even though it looks hard, YOU can do it through discipline and practice. And then you become surprised about yourself, and your relationship with your instrument immediately becomes stronger. Chris has years and years of experience teaching music. He is a multi-instrumentalist, absolutely talented and I would absolutely recommend him! Plus his sense of humor makes everything shinier. Wouldn't pick anybody else!

My name is Ghislain, I am 25 years and have a Master in Dance Performance from the Conservatory of music and dance of Paris. I am also French and arrived in September with a full scholarship to study dance at UCLA.

I have studied piano for 10 years at the Conservatoire de Nice (South France), have the experience of teaching private lessons in France and am seeking piano students of every level and age. The past year, I have taught 15 beginners from the age of 5 to 60+ in Paris and had so much fun doing it. I can also teach for adults with a intermediate or advanced level.

With beginners, I tend to put my focus on teaching fundamental notions such as being able to read music notes and understanding rhythm; two elements that are essential to be able to play the piano. And within a few weeks, I can make anyone play piano following a music score !

"Words can't ever explain how amazing and talented Peter is with the piano, kids and teenagers like me. Not only does he encourages us to practice what we are most passionate about, but he inspires us to write our own music. When I was about 8 years old, I had a piano teacher who was very by the book. She never gave me the opportunity to go out of my box and try new styles and approaches to piano music. After a while, I lost all passion and motivation to play piano again. A couple of years have passed and my friend Tara introduced me to Peter. As I got to know him, I began to fall back in love with playing piano. He inspired me on a completely new level to continue practicing piano and to go down a certain path that fits me. He taught me how to write my own piano sheet by listening to the song and figuring out what notes match with the melody or the background music. He introduced me to Yanni, which I soon fell in love with and continued playing his music. Not only has he been such an amazing, influential piano teacher, but he has also been my best friend who I could talk to about anything at anytime. I love him to death and I guarantee you will never be disappointed in him."

How to Practice Piano Arpeggios | Tips and Exercises

Don't forget about piano arpeggios when you sit down to practice! Here, Helendale, CA teacher Sylvia S. shares her tips for playing and practicing them...   One of the great masters of 20th century piano showmanship was Liberace, otherwise known as the Elvis of piano performance. Liberace’s trademarks were wildly ostentatious outfits, candelabras atop the piano, and dramatic, finger-tangling sweeps across the keyboard of a grand piano. Those dramatic sweeps, known as arpeggios, ar …
