As a music teacher of over 10 years I take a fun but structured approach to learning the piano. I've taught all ages and I individually work with each student to help them learn the music that they want to and reach the goals that they set for themselves. I work with each student to help mold their learning experience specifically to them. We will typically start with exercises and music theory and then move to music, but am willing to adapt to what each student is wanting and needing. I will send written individual feedback after the lesson to help remind the student of what we are working on. I hope to have the chance to share my love of music with you!

I also use the Piano as a tool for ear training and visualizations for theory. I enjoy playing the Piano and use it as a way to relax when I am not playing my French horn. I love teaching Piano players of all ages!

A lot of piano teachers swear by the old familiar Hanon exercises as a great way of teaching technique to their students. I strongly disagree. I’m familiar with a lot of different ways of developing piano technique, and I think that Hanon is among the least efficient. Why? Below I’ve provided fiv …
