Students will learn proper piano technique as to play comfortably and with ease. Warm-ups will help the student to prepare the hands to play on the keyboard. Students will learn piano pieces that will develop they're playability and reading of piano music.

About Anthony
Having an ear for music of all styles and genres, I had an interest in playing music and instruments at a very young age. At just 5 years old, I took my first piano lesson. I studied with that piano teacher for another 10 years, working on technique, theory and classical music, including playing piano recitals as a performer. I practiced piano to become a solo classical musician. Then in middle school, I joined the symphonic band where I was exposed and learned to play instruments in the percussion section, including drums, xylophone and marimba, and other instruments. At the same time, I joined the middle school jazz band. This was my first transition both as a piano player and musician into a new genre of music and playing. Needless to say, I fell in love with the music. In 2005, I auditioned and was the only pianist accepted into the c
lassical piano department in the School of the Arts High School of San Francisco. There I went through rigorous classical training and learned vast amounts of repertoire. At the same time, I still studied and played jazz in the high school Big Band, Latin Jazz band and small jazz combo. It was during this time that I deeply focused on not only Jazz music and improvisation, but also Salsa, Latin Jazz, R&B, Funk, Pop. Basically all other forms and styles of music. I learned what it means to be in a band and how to make an ensemble sound good and to make an audience like and cheer for the music. I was lucky to have bands and musicians to play with all around San Francisco, including jazz festivals.

After graduating as the only student to study in the Piano department for 4 years in my graduating class, I was accepted with scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston. I started my first semester in 2009, and declared a Piano Performance and Jazz Composition Dual Major in 2010. At Berklee, I studied under amazing piano teachers to focus on my jazz playing and technique and repertoire. Some of the classes I took included music theory, ear training, composition and arranging, scoring and analysis, even guitar and bass labs. As well, I was the main piano player for the Berklee Salsa Ensemble for 3 straight years. I was also involved with bands and playing recitals, shows, clubs, outdoors and indoor venues throughout Boston and Massachusetts. I had the honor of being hired by Berklee to travel and play along with other selected students at the Carnaval de Barranquilla honoring Joe Arroyo. This was the most memorable musical experience for me yet, as I played along great musicians for hundreds of people in a theater, including Joe Arroyo sharing the stage with the band.

All of this experience and training is what I bring to my lessons and tutoring sessions. I teach my students how to prepare themselves for any kind of musical situation, from music theory and technique, to piano playing and repertoire, and understanding and playing all kinds of styles and genres of music. Most of all, I teach my students to be unique in their musical endeavors and to bring out their own voice through music. And the most important element of all, the happiness and joy it brings to the students and others.

*** Lesson Details ***
In my piano and music lessons, you will be learning music theory, proper piano technique, ear training, sight reading, and repertoire. It will be up to the student to determine what genre and style of music they want to learn and study. It can be anything from classical music, jazz, or even Funk and R&B music and more. My students will also develop an ear, meaning that instead of only focusing on written material and music in sheet music format, they will learn to hear intervals and chords, and also play or sing back melodies.

My teaching style is very easy to get along with. I don't pressure or push students by being too strict. When learning music, being hard and strict gets the student nowhere. I approach the student with listening and understanding. It's my job to see the students advantages and keep them strong, as well as working on bringing up weaknesses and what's needed to make the student excel in both playing technique, and all other musical aspects.

When it comes to proper piano technique, I always teach my students with "Hanon, the Virtuoso Pianist in sixty excercises", and "Scales, Chords & Arpeggios" by James Bastien. After 3-6 months as my student, you will progress in your technique skills, ear training, repertoire and memorization

I've been teaching piano for over ten years. I am able to teach all styles of music. I teach to inspire, this is the philosophy that I teach by. I use Faber & Faber for beginner students and then I move on to Mozart, Bach, Chopin, Monk, and other great pianists.

About Tamara

I'm currently working on a Master's Degree in Music Production and Sound Design at The Academy of Art University, freelancing as a pianist/vocalist, and I'm working on and recording a second album.

I started singing, playing piano, and composing music when I was seven years old. Throughout my musical career, I have performed and collaborated with various rock bands, classical trios, vocal ensembles, churches, and theater groups.

My Education includes Berklee College of Music, Academy of Art University, McNally Smith College of Music, MCTC, and Full Sail University (BS and AAS degrees in Music Performance, Sound Arts/sound Engineering, Music Production).

I enjoy writing and playing classical, electronic, rock, jazz,
folk, punk, and experimental music. In my free time I like to circuit bend.

I try my best to involve and invite students to join or listen to live music ensembles, recitals, and performances of different genres. I teach all styles of music for voice, piano, and guitar. I am very diligent with practicing, teaching you how to practice, and keeping track of it. In 3 or 6 months you will have a basic understanding of music theory and a solid foundation of piano, voice, or guitar techniques. I thrive to boost self esteem and confidence in all the students that I teach. I also teach composition, students really enjoy writing their own songs and performing them.

We will learn starting from the basics and move gradually to harder material. You will learn lots of songs, scales, how to solo, and to compose your own music.

About Frixos
Frixos states that his love for music probably started before he was born. “I’m pretty sure the Motown sounds my mother loved to listen and move to permeated to me through her.” Add to that his exposure to different ethnic sounds like Greek (his origins) folklore and contemporary music, Portuguese Fado (his birthplace and early childhood), Italian Bel Canto and modern pop, American Jazz, Afro, etc. and it’s easy to see how music helped shape Frixos’ passion. Each had an influence on him, “as they were incessantly played by my parents,” Frixos adds. “In fact it would be safe to say that music was the predominant form of entertainment at home."

By the age of seven, Frixos started to frequent a music school where he was introduced to percussion instruments. Soon after, he took on classical guitar based on the UK Royal Academy of Music cu
rriculum. A couple of years later in 1998, Frixos found his true calling … music composition, Jazz and the Saxophone. Frixos’ purple tenor sax goes everywhere he goes!

“Part of my love for the Saxophone is rooted in this instrument’s versatility for improvisation.” Moving into music composition seemed a natural course for Frixos to follow, culminating in his graduation in 2013 with a University of Florida Music Composition BA from The New World School of the Arts in Miami.

“I was fortunate to be selected to play in various collegiate and other Jazz bands and be mentored by great jazz performers and educators.” Among them was Ed Calle, twice nominated for the Latin Grammy Award; Joe Donato, one of the most active and innovative musicians working in the field of jazz who has performed with many of the greats including Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey, Carmen McRae, Nina Simone, Jack Jones, and Arturo Sandoval; Rafael Valencia where “I was honored to play for his Latin Jazz Big Band” says Frixos; the wonderful pianist Jim Gasior who has played with Ed Calle, Wendy Pedersen, Fernando Ulibarri and Aaron Lebos; the published and well decorated guitarist Dr. Mike Di Liddo, to name a few.

Of course there were lesser known people that had a profound influence on Frixos for which he makes it a point to say that he is “eternally grateful”. He adds, “My passion for composing was further affirmed thanks to Dr. Susan Epstein Garcia who showed me that there’s no limit to musical expression.” Dr. Ferdinando De Sena brought Frixos another dimension through his teachings of electronic music.

Frixos seeks to create variety in his compositions, by using worldly rhythms and sounds expressed through a multitude of instrumental expressions to create his own unique contemporary sound. “I look for connections between different music genres, from classical, rock, pop, funk, reggae, fusion, jazz etc. These connections are what I bring to my music” continues Frixos.

In October 2007 Frixos released his first CD titled “Cause Frixion” which was dedicated to fund-raising for The Epilepsy Foundation of Florida. This album included a tune he wrote earlier that year called “Freedom”. Other works have been published more recently on the internet, namely cdbaby, iTunes etc. and are played on internet radio stations.

Frixos continues to perform gigs with different musicians and bands in venues around the Miami and Ft. Lauderdale area, including recording sessions for Fourth Dimension and others. He plays multiple instruments including alto, soprano and tenor sax, flute and keyboards. His performances comprise events at the renowned Van Dyke Café on Lincoln Road; Avenue D; Crescendo Jazz and Blues Lounge; Churchill’s Pub, a bastion for local musicians; Tobacco Road, the oldest music bar in Miami; Blue Jean Blues in Ft. Lauderdale where Al Kanovsky for The South Florida Jazz Scene wrote on October 15 2012, “They continued, raucously on, with everybody, musicians and audience having fun. A young man walked in, sax case in hand. Joe (Donato) invited him up to jam. What can I say. His name is Frixos, (yes it's right) and this kid can blow.”

The beginner piano lessons are designed to develop your mechanical abilities on the piano and increase your understanding of the piano keyboard. I will teach you the fundamentals of sight reading, technique, and music theory, as well as how to practice effectively,

I've given successfully online lessons via TakeLessons Classroom and if you are interested here is a list with some of the advantages:
1. Quality of the teacher: I believe it is better to have online lessons with an excellent teacher than it is to have in-person lessons with a mediocre teacher. TakeLessons Classroom gives students even more options to choose from when looking for a teacher since they are not restricted to their small local region.
2. Weekly Convenience: Students don’t have to travel 10 or 20 minutes to their teacher’s studio.
3. Convenience of Recording Lessons: While students always have the option to record their face-to-face lessons, that never happens (at least, in the history of my teaching).

About Denise
I hold a Master's in Voice Performance degree from University of New Orleans and Bachelor of Science degree in Voice Performance from State Music Academy, Sofia, Bulgaria.
In 2001, I toured with International European Opera Company which performed numerous times in Denmark, France, Italy and USA.
I currently perform and teach in the New Orleans area and love to share my knowledge and experience with my students. There is so much more to performance then just beautiful vocalizing.....

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching is based on my own personal, classical training from Europe and North America. Whether it's opera, oratorio, musical theater or pop-style singing that is desired, I believe that classical technique is an essential source of proper singing that can be used to train singers of all genres.
Just like a piano, flute or vi
olin, your voice is an instrument.
The purpose of voice lessons is to help you develop a beautiful and dynamic singing voice and also to teach you to use your voice in a healthy age-appropriate way that will keep you singing for many years to come!
As your teacher, I want your lesson to be more than just singing through a few songs.
While what specifically happens during a voice lesson can vary greatly from student to student and from week to week, the overall structure of the lessons remains similar.
We will always start with some combination of warm-ups for your breath, body, and voice. Just as you wouldn't go running without first stretching and warming up your muscles, you don't want to start singing full songs without first getting your body and voice warmed up.
Warm-ups will also introduce you to new techniques for properly using your voice in a healthy and beautiful way.
After warm-ups, we will work on songs. Typically, you will sing through the song once, and then we will go through it in small, manageable chunks, applying the techniques from the warm-ups to the songs.
During the lesson we will also work on expression and acting. A song isn't just pretty notes—it tells a story. If it's a song from a musical, there's a specific character that sings it. It's your job as a singer to tell the story and to make it fun and exciting for the audience.
While there's a lot of hard work that goes on during a lesson, voice lessons are lots of fun! As your teacher, I am here to encourage you, support you, and guide you in your vocal studies. I look forward to working with you soon!

Beginning Piano students will be taught the basics in a fun but productive way. I will teach a strong foundation so a student can move forward with confidence. Lessons would be individualized to focus on areas that need the most guidance.

Students will learn the basics about rhythm, harmony, and melody and how they apply to piano. They will become fluent in the 12 basic keys to a degree where you can play simple songs in any of them.

About Melissa
I have been teaching since 2006 on a variety of topics. I graduated with an BA from the University of Wisconsin. My degree is in History with and emphasis on East Asian history.

I've taught all age groups from age 2 up to retirees. My teaching experience includes one-on-one and group classes in a variety of settings. I've taught corporate classes, private lessons, small groups, and traditional classroom lessons.

We have a student-centric philosophy of learning. Lessons are generally relaxed and designed to work towards accomplishing student determined goals. While all students will study similar fundamentals regarding technique, theory, and performance, every lesson is as different as every person. Special focus on topics like music theory, self-accompaniment, composition, song writing, and home recording are available as well.

What are your personal goals? We'll tell you what you need to do to get there, and help you take the steps to achieve your aspirations.

Lessons with small children are more focused on just having fun while developing a good musical foundation, but we prefer for them to have as much personal ownership of their lesson as possible.

My lessons are tailored to each individual skill level to maximize individual students' strengths. My teaching style is based on relaxation techniques to facilitate finding the students' natural talent, helping them to discover the strength and potential inherent in their music.

About Dena
I am a long-time music educator and performing vocalist. After obtaining a degree from the Indiana University School of Music, I taught high school choir in Chicago and held the position of alto section leader in the renowned Chicago Chamber Choir. I also performed with the Marion Consort, Music Box Theater, and I was a soloist at St. Gregory's Episcopal Church. In New Orleans, I sing with the selective chamber ensemble, Krewe de Voix, I have performed at the French Quarter Festival, and I am a soloist and section leader at Trinity Episcopal Church. I have seventeen years of experience working with piano and voice students of all ages and ability levels.

In piano lessons, I ask thought provoking questions to encourage students to find patterns in music, to think critically about the music they are learning, and to develop strong au

In voice lessons, I specialize in developing beginning-level singers by focusing on breath, posture and aural skills as well as cultivation of vocal quality. If you think you "can't sing," I look forward to proving you wrong!

I believe piano lessons should be both enjoyable and tailored to the individual. First, I lay the groundwork by teaching music theory, scales, and finger dexterity exercises. We then play various pieces (from both supplemental books and students' own choices) based on the level of each student. As we work on pieces together, I teach minimalist movements to help the student apply the foundation of music theory and scale work to each piece.

About Ross
I am an opera singer and private music instructor in New York City.

I cater my lessons to my students’ individual goals, firmly believing that a strong framework in classical technique can support any style of music. I love watching my students become passionate about music, achieve their goals, and reach their greatest potential as musicians. Using my experience and flexibility, I create a learning environment that is both engaging and fun.

I developed a passion for music at a young age and have been studying piano for 18 years. I received my BA in Language and Culture with a double minor in Vocal/Opera Performance and Italian, as well as my MA in Vocal Performance. While earning my MA, I coached voice, piano, and language diction to the undergraduate and masters students.

Since then, I have been actively singing in the city with var
ious opera companies as well as doing concert work. I also teach piano and voice to students of all ages, both privately and at Trevor Day School.

Have you ever wanted to play jazz? Here in New Orleans is the perfect place to learn and eventually play it on the music scene! I have been teaching jazz for the last five years in many subject areas including piano, jazz theory, composition, ear training and more. Lessons will include methods and technique for students to be able to express themselves on their instrument through jazz improvisation. My primary instrument is piano but I am open to teaching any student on any instrument that is interested in learning how to play jazz. Send me a message if you are interested!

About Jason
I am a professional jazz pianist and composer. I attended the Florida State University studying jazz under some of the best jazz musicians in the world including Scotty Barnhart, director of the Count Basie Orchestra and Marcus Roberts, pianist for Wynton Marsalis. I have been playing music professionally since 2011 with my own bands and other groups including the Tallahassee Jazz Symphony Orchestra and a jazz trio here in New Orleans. I truly enjoy teaching anyone interested in learning more about jazz because playing jazz can truly help one grow in their musicianship. I also enjoy exploring more contemporary genres of music like Neo-Soul, R&B, and electronic music. I released a single on Spotify in 2016 called The First Breath and plan on releasing more music. Some of my biggest musical inspirations are Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, and
Robert Glasper. I hope to reflect my musical influences and experiences on all of my students.
