I teach beginning piano to students who are trying to learn musicianship for fun or for use in music theory or for help learning other instruments.

I also teach students for the CM and ABRSM exams and can teach serious classical music at any level when requested by parents.

I try to approach piano for young students in a fun manner so they will like to practice on their own while continuing to reach their goals.

I love to teach students of any age, but I specialize in teaching 4-12 year olds and adult beginners how to play.

I believe it is important to foster a child's growth of not just music but of learning any subject through what they learn in piano from finding patterns, focus, musical understanding and expression, through to time management. My goal is to get students to develop both their creative and their analytical abilities.

Alexandra is everything you could ever want in a first-rate teacher: she is inspiring, devoted, nurturing, exciting, knowledgeable, a fierce advocate for her students - the list goes on and on. However, what makes Alexandra truly remarkable is her almost magical ability to instantly spark intrinsic motivation - and a love of music - in all of her students. If you are looking to learn from a truly life-changing teacher, look no further than Alexandra Perdew-Bhatt.

Alexandra has met all my expectations. She is very patient. I feel like we are moving along at a good pace. I had zero musical experience and after only 3 lessons can read basic sheet music and actually have music come out of the piano!! I am enjoying the whole process.

Avenira has such kindness! She has taught me so so much and she was the best instructor I had. She let me learn the song I wanted to learn, and I felt more passionate and confident about my singing and playing than ever. I wanted to practice more, I wanted to become better, and this never happened with other instructors.

Of course I recommend Avenira, my daughters really enjoyed their classes with her.
They both have different instruments, one has a Guitar and the other has a Ukulele, they are highly motivated by the songs they learned to play and sing.
It is a nice experience.
Avenira was always in charge of keeping them engage. Bravo!!!
Brandon
Avenira is one of the most passionate teachers I've ever met. She truly cares about the progress of her students, and her lesson plans reflect that. She treats each student as an individual, curating her lessons to suit their likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses. She's also one of the few teachers I've met that is able to keep even her youngest students fully engaged during online lessons. I highly recommend working with Avenira!

Learning the Piano: 5 Ways to Bring Out the Melody in Songs

How do you make your melodies shine when you're learning the piano? Read on as Powell, OH teacher Sara Marie B. shares some exercises to try...   As you're learning the piano, one of the most difficult things to do, especially for young children or beginning pianists, is to bring out the melody. Simply saying it does not help, so I've found I need to provide students with ways to practice this at home, guiding them toward the correct sound. If you're listening well and spending time …
