Students will learn basic piano skills such as hand placement, note reading, note values, pedal use, major and minor scales, expressions, etudes, pieces, memory work, music history, performance techniques, and most of all to have fun learning the piano. I will expect students to have a minimum 67 note keyboard with sustain pedal, or a good piano to use for personal practice time. Each student should spend at least 20-30 minutes daily to start. They must purchase the recommended books.

Hi there! I graduated from CSULB’s Bob Cole Conservatory with a Bachelor’s in Vocal Performance, and I also has 10 years of piano study under my belt and have completed Certificate of Merit Level 7. Let me know your goals with piano and I can help you get there, whether you're an ADULT (trust me, it's NEVER too late to start. Don't listen to nay-sayers, they are just afraid), a TEEN (this is the time of your life when music can seize your heart so if you have favorite artists, let's play their songs after we solidify some piano basics), or a child (we can learn at your pace while having fun). Progress is built with consistent practice and familiarizing yourself with piano, even if you're just messing around on it during the week.

I've been teaching piano for 7 years. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to learn basic piano-playing posture and the basic knowledge on piano. As time goes on, you'll be able to reach to intermediate level. I typically use Faber piano book series. I love working with students of all ages and up to intermediate level and I can't wait to meet you!

One of the keys to successful piano playing is proper hand placement. Below, piano teacher Ryan C. shares three fun exercises beginners can do to improve their piano hand position... When trying to teach beginner students the proper piano hand position, I’ve often found that telling them to “move this finger in such and such a way” is a fairly challenging task. This is especially true if they haven’t developed finger independence through other means. It very quickly becomes n …
