In piano, we will begin with simple music designed to build strength and dexterity in your hands. We will begin learning to read music notes together, so don't worry if you never have before! However, I do recommend that young children are able to identify the alphabet and numbers 1-10 prior to starting piano. Reading is a plus!

In lessons, I use the Piano Adventures series, starting at the primer level with very young students. I will typically use the Lesson, Performance, Technique & Artistry, & Theory books available at each level to give every student the most comprehensive music education while building their piano playing ability. These four books are commonly sold as a package on amazon.com for a discounted rate.

In addition, I love to work with each student to meet his or her own personal goals. I am always happy to provide additional music from outside these core books! Some examples of things my students have requested over the years include Disney songs, video

Kristin does a beautiful job teaching piano and singing to my daughters. The two go hand in hand and she does a great job combining both. On a personal note, she has a beautiful, generous heart and gives my girls little prizes when they do very well.

Kristin is wonderful! My daughter loves singing with her and looks forward to every lesson! Kristin really cares about how her students are doing and gets to know them and their interests outside of their lessons. We were blown away that she remembered Isabel's birthday after only meeting with us a few times!
Isabel sings all the time. She tells me, mommy I have to practice so I can be famous like Ms Kristin! We are so lucky to have found her!

Did not care enough to plan ahead or get to know my granddaughter enough to individualize her weekly lessons. Very apparent that she failed to prepare ahead of time. Often late and cancelled class several times.

Susan is not only an accomplished musician, but she is also an amazing teacher and mentor. She elevated my daughter’s musicianship and helped her find her true potential as a classical pianist. My daughter’s success as a competitive pianist is due to Susan’s instruction, encouragement, and guidance. When we started lessons with Susan, we struck gold!

Susan is an experienced concert pianist with world-class expertise in the instrument, yet she is also an approachable educator + coach who has done a great deal to advance my technique and interpretation. I’m glad to have found her. Advanced pianists will be pleased to find someone who can help raise their game even further, but regardless of your skill level, I don’t think you’ll regret signing up with her.

Susan was a PERFECT match for me. I really hate leaving her great knowledge. She has poured out to me her expert knowledge. Unfortunately, I am unable to continue. Susan is a teaching jewel to be cherished.

A solid, artistic, and flexible piano technique from the beginning. One of the fundamental parts in learning to play piano is to learn the basics of piano technique, which includes proper posture of the body when sitting to play piano, proper fingers, hands, and arms position. The development of the arm and hand flexibility in order to learn the legato and staccato performance from the beginning of the piano studies.

Throughout my 20 years of teaching experience I have developed different methods for children and adults to build a flexible and artistic piano technique that has worked with all my students.

The proper use of the arm rotation, wrist flexibility and how the wrists and arms help to lead the direction of the phrases are fundamentals to attain a beautiful and rich tone .

Jesus has more than 20 years experience teaching piano and 10 years teaching the Suzuki piano method, with dozens of his students playing successfully in recitals, competitions, and auditions around the Chicago area. He completed his Masters of Music in Piano Performance with a scholarship from

I am trained in Russian technique using relaxation movements that prevent painful cramps in wrist and forearm. I have been teaching primarily children from age 4 in music schools and homes since 1987. I like to motivate them by letting them choose their favorites, like songs from Disney movies or some other popular songs. I am very patient and encouraging. I am happy when I see love for music growing in hearts of students.

About Katarina

I attended six years at State Conservatory and graduated with Magister degree from Comenius University in former Czechoslovakia. I performed during my college years with a chamber vocal-instrumental ensemble. I started teaching piano and music theory in 1987 at a music school and later I was giving

First time playing piano? Resuming after years or decades of not playing the piano? No matter your age or experience, you can always learn and improve!

I have close to 10 years of tutoring experience, helping children and adults embrace piano and music.

I recommend just starting with a single lesson to see if we are good fits for each other and start a roadmap to progress toward your goals! My rates is for a one-off session, so it is extremely negotiable if we work together regularly.

About Bill

I have always been a self-studier my entire life. Being able to learn with just books and your brain is a crucial skill to have. However, I know not everyone (and sometimes even myself) have the discipline and motivation to keep going during hard times. Or maybe the teacher/professor is not the best

"I’ve been taking piano from Grace for about a year. My six year old daughter just started with her last year. My daughter can already read many notes in different combinations and can play dozens of her favorite songs smoothly! Grace is good at relating to kids which is probably more difficult online. It’s been wonderful being able to play duets with my daughter and teach her work ethic by example. I feel like music has done wonders for her development. She is extremely shy and music has helped her express herself better. She will even play for strangers without being asked!"

"Learning piano with Josh has been an amazing experience!

I learned rigorous classical piano playing for 10 years growing up, but I was never able to find fun in it that I end up giving it up in high school. Beginning of this year, I decided to give it another try, and wanted to learn popular music and music theory as a change.

It was very fortunate that I found Josh. He is a very talented musician as well as a great teacher - a unique rare combo. He always tailors his teaching to my level and learning speed, teaches in a very interactive way with lots of examples, balances the pace of each lesson nicely between reviewing past material and stretch the learning horizon with new materials, and his love and passion in music come through and it is infectious. He also is very humble and curious and constantly seek feedback and new ideas to improve his teaching.

Now instead of dragging my feet to piano lessons, I actually practice daily at home and look forward to each weekend piano lesson with Josh. I'm so glad I found him as my teacher and would highly recommend anyone who'd like to learn music and have a ton of fun in the process!"

"We selected Brad Allen because he was using Faber&Faber's Piano Adventures. Since then, my three children have not only excelled in their skills, but they have grown more and more to enjoy playing. Brad is fun and personable and he gives his students the freedom to play the things which will interest them. The amount of practice homework he gives is manageable but still enough to increase their skills. As a parent, I appreciate his flexibility when our schedule gets complicated. I fully trust Brad Allen with the time he spends with my children."

Music Education: The Benefits of Music on the Brain | TakeLessons

What’s more human than music? From the beginning of human history, our ancestors have been organizing sound into meaningful melodies and rhythms. The lines between language and music are often blurred, as many of the same parts of our brain are used to process both phenomena. Even as babies, our cooing and babbling often have a rhythmic quality as we try to imitate our parents. On top of that, nothing soothes a restless child like a mother’s song!
