Hello! I began studying piano when I was 4 through the Suzuki method and started teaching when I moved to San Francisco to start school. I am dedicated to the Suzuki method and believe in it; in case you're unfamiliar with the Suzuki method, it's a way of approaching music that focuses on fundamentals, developing the ear, and learning through emulation rather than solely on reading and theory. As someone who was taught by a more traditional teacher who was a strict adherent to the Suzuki method timeline, I have found myself to be much more flexible teacher who really wants to structure the lessons around the student to maximize an enjoyable relationship with the piano and music. For adults, of course, we start looking at reading pretty much from the beginning whereas for children, we steer clear of reading for a bit. I have a dog and two cats who are super friendly and who love to sit and listen to the piano lessons (I have had a few students who are scared) - just FYI! Looking ...

I'm not a piano player, but my students love their lessons. I'm a musician and a teacher, and I've been trained on piano. I can help you with fingering, reading, and theory. I love to teach and play and will bring energy and excitement to each of our lessons. Where I really shine is in my understanding of theory and my ability to explain it. Do you want to know why a chord sounds a certain way in a song? I can tell you. Do you want to know what scale to play over an A 7 that resolves to a D minor in the key of C? I can lead you there. To learn more, just book a lesson and we'll be able to get right into it!
