Lessons are held in my home studio on the Westside of El Paso.

I coach beginner piano for students of any age! The method book will depend on the age, and skill level.

You will learn technique, to read music, perform solos, and much more. You will need to have your own piano or keyboard at home to practice. All students are encouraged to perform in my recitals, which are held twice a year!

Hello there, curious musician to be!

Over the past few years I've developed the most beautiful relationships with my students, and their families. I've helped complete beginners gain enough skills, and confidence to perform in recitals in front of over 50 guests! If you're interested in performing, I host 2 recitals a year, and they're a huge hit!

Many of my students have auditioned, and been accepted into theater companies, orchestras, and choirs. Whether you are just starting out, or are looking to improve on your skills, this is the studio for you.

I started playing violin when I was 10 and have performed with several Honors Or
chestras, mariachis, as well as professional groups. My Junior and Senior year of high school I was honored to be Concertmaster.

I began my classical vocal training at San Diego State University in Spring of 2012. I was trained as a Soprano and an Alto because of my coachability, and musicianship. Since then I have worked with several talented and dynamic directors throughout my training experience. I have attended the annual San Diego Summer Choral Festival, as well as the Conducting Workshop, which consisted of an intensive choral training weekend followed by performances. I am also part of a professional choir in San Diego called Pro Arte Voices. I continue to work on myself so that I can always give my best to my students, and teach them something new. I look forward to making music with you, or your little one soon :)

We have had a wonderful experience with Souaad - both when she lived in San Diego and once we started doing lessons online. My daughter started with her at age 10 and is now 13 and loving her vocal experiences. We initially started with Souaad in preparation for an audition for a musical but have continued with more lessons and ongoing training both vocally and with music theory.
Her experiences with Souaad has encouraged her to audition for many plays (and she's gotten the roles!) and join the school choire. Souaad is very professional to work with as a parent and also very engaging for my daughter. Right now they are working together for a recital and will be performing a duet together. She's very flexible with schedules too. Couldn't be happier!

I am an adult who has no experience with any type of instrument and was very nervous and intimidated at first. Then I met with Michael, and though there was a ton of information we had to go through, he really made me feel at ease. He has the knowledge, patience, and understanding I was really looking for in a teacher and I'm so happy I found him!

Brooklyn-based private music teacher operating in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Over a decade of experience teaching a broad range of styles to students of all ages and backgrounds. Strong focus on the individual student's personal interests and goals. Master's degree in music with years of experience touring globally and recording for both major and indie labels.
Whether you're looking to begin your or your child's piano learning experience, or take your playing to the next level, it's my passion to get students playing the music they want to play, right from the beginning!

About Ken
A recent transplant to the Park Slope area, I'm a composer and multi-instrumentalist originally from Raleigh, North Carolina. Prior to receiving my master's degree in composition from Mannes (The New School), I was the lead guitarist in the indie rock band Annuals. As part of this group I signed with two major record labels, appeared on national television programs such as Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and performed globally both on tour and at prominent festivals such as Bonnaroo, Coachella, Glastonbury (England), and Roskilde (Denmark).

I have been teaching private music lessons for twelve years, both freelance and as part of various organizations. My approach to teaching is highly dynamic—I don't use the same method with every student and I have no stylistic prejudices or an agenda to push. I approach each student as an individual
, tailoring lesson plans to suit their personal goals and interests. I have experience playing and teaching an extensive range of styles including pop, rock, jazz, country, metal, and classical. One of my main goals is to foster a sense of musical understanding with every student so that they may learn to combine technical, theoretical, and aural skills into a unified whole.

Most students want to learn to play songs they know and love. To that end, I get students playing the music they want to play right from the beginning, often through personally crafted arrangements of songs/pieces of the student's choosing, specifically tailored to their current skill level. This way, technical and theoretical skills are learned through direct experience with actual music, and only very rarely through rote exercise.

For more advanced players, I offer an array of strategies designed to take your playing to the next level. I find that the most common shortcomings of advanced players are conceptual. The technical skills are there but the level of conceptual and theoretical understanding has hit a wall. Many players find themselves playing the same chord shapes, melodic patterns, and harmonic progressions over and over again. I've had much success over the years in getting advanced students out of this rut and helping open up new pathways for exploration in both improvisation and composition.

I've been playing off and on for 15 years and am mostly self taught. I knew what I wanted to learn but was having trouble figuring it out on my own. In the first lesson Ken was able to zero in on what I want to learn and the best way to go about it. In three lessons I feel that I understand the guitar so much more than I have in the past 15 years of playing. Not only from a technical standpoint, but also in a "feel" sense. On my own I could learn all the scales, chords, and songs I wanted, but Ken has helped me to make sense of everything and use these skills to become a better player all around.

I taught public school for 12 years and then taught at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY for the last 14. My degrees are from Western Michigan University, Indiana University, and Ball State University. During my teaching career, I provided private lessons outside of the school and the college. When I left NY, I had 35 students of which 6 remained with me online. I love teaching and create an atmosphere where the students, regardless of age, feel successful in their endeavors.

WHAT DO I TEACH?

About Ruthy
I have been playing the piano for over twenty years. I began at the early age of seven years old. Because piano has played such a vital role in my life, I believe it is a responsibility of mine to pass on such a delightful gift of piano playing to those who would like to make it a part of their life too.

I have spent over ten years teaching piano in different areas. This includes a piano lab for a private school, a music studio, and at my home. Throughout the past ten-plus years, I’ve had the privilege to teach over 250 students. I have had over a dozen large recitals with crowds each time of over 150 people.

Not only do I have piano experience, but I also have studied the art of teaching by earning my bachelor of science in elementary education.

My passion is music and being able to teach others to play the piano. I love seeing
the progress of students and the light that comes from learning their favorite piece.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you on your piano playing journey!

My skype lesson with Sam was one of the most insightful musical experiences I've had in regards to educating myself about the craft of trombone playing. Not only is his remarkable prowess at the instrument itself apparent but his knowledge of musical harmony and overall artistry allows all of his expert advice to come full circle and become even more impactful. His teaching style was incredibly supportive and effective and with clear and concise input I feel like I can very easily implement the information he gave me into my own playing. From the nuances of trombone technique to the intricacies of complex musical harmonies and progressions, Sam is more than capable of instructing students of all ages and skill levels. I would absolutely recommend Sam to anybody who wants to study music/trombone seriously or even is just getting started and wants to build a strong foundation. I place a heavy emphasis on not just playing but understanding the music. Understanding what you're playing is a key difference between an amateur and a professional musician.

Music is all about relationships and patterns. The more patterns and relationships you learn to readily recognize and identify the more affluent you become in your musical mastery.

About Jacob
Hi, my name is Jacob. I have been teaching music lessons for a living for over 10 years. I graduated with my Ba. in music composition from the University of Oregon in 2008.
