I have my Master's Degree in piano performance. I am an experienced teacher(30 years) as I taught at the Settlement schools in Philadelphia with all levels and backgrounds for 16 years. Some students were extremely talented. I have had my own studio in my home since 1999. I'm also great with beginners and intermediate students. I love teaching, so it really doesn't matter what level the student has attained.
I'm a classically trained pianist. I graduated from West Chester University with my Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance in 1985. I then went on to Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. where I earned my Masters degree in Piano Performance in 1987. Beginning in 1987 I taught at the Settlement Music Schools in Philadelphia. I remained there for 16 years working with virtually every level of student from beginner to advanced. From 2004 to the present I have been teaching in my own home studio in West Chester, Pa.
*** Lesson Details *** I am an energetic, experienced, sincere, and patient teacher. I emphasize learning to read music as I believe this is the most important skill a student can possess. I also emphasize theory to help the student get a true knowledge of how music is put together. My goal is to help you understa
nd music so that you can learn on your own!
*** Studio Equipment *** dedicated music room; 7 foot Steinway B grand piano

I have had students of all ages and abilities. For my students under an adolescent age, I like to use fun books and games to help them learn and provide the lesson with a fun & child-friendly approach. For my adult students, I believe that it is important to establish goals and be realistic about their expectations.
I am a graduate of The University of The arts with a BA in music performance. The University of The Arts has allowed me to gain a reputable amount of performance and educational work. In my training at the University was able to concentrate on many styles of performance such as classical technique as well as Broadway and jazz. With that in mind, it is also important to stay current on today’s music as well. Music has allowed me to travel the world with various groups and perform with musicals greats like the Philly Pops, bassist Gerald Veasly and the great Bernard “Pretty “ Purdie. I have taught voice and piano for high school students entering college for music. My experience in teaching is not only with high school students but spans all ages. After completing college I continued my training with Mrs. Jackie’s Piano Fun Class for
ages 4-6. This gave me confidence to complete training for The Music Class and various other infant and toddlers music programs. Currently I have many adult students, some learning for performance reasons and others to just have fun with playing. One of my theory’s behind music training is “you must love the music you play”. It may be something new but always something for you.
*** Lesson Details *** Motivation and commitment are important in my lessons. I believe with these two things and proper encouragement for your teacher every student is a winner! I like to start my lesson by assessing what skills and goals each student has or would like to reach for within their lesson. It also important to talk about you expectations for me as the teacher and what tools you will need going forward. (Music books, songs, tape recording etc…). I lessons to be enjoyable but also productive. I use lots of games and techniques to help each student learn

Lauren was very skillful at what she does and this conveys well in the lessons with her. I learned a lot from Lauren in my time with her but I would prefer the lessons to be a little more organized. All in all a good experience, Thank you Lauren.
January 6, 2015
Lauren is the real deal. Point blank period. I initially signed up for singing lessons, but she has helped me with piano, music theory, and other skills as well. She has a much more wholesome approach for developing as an artist than simply a linear "sing these notes" type of lesson.
Lauren is a good balance of stern and silly. She has a great sense of humor, so I feel comfortable singing & playing for her (even if my skills are limited and sound like a dying horse). However, that doesn't mean you just goof around. She takes it very seriously and pushes you as a student. I couldn't recommend Lauren more.

Adam is an excellent teacher! I have always been intimidated by playing the drum set, but Adam was so good at explaining each step that it felt almost simple. After just a few lessons I was able to figure out some songs on my own, and felt confident enough to play with friends. Thank, Adam!

ous students I love theory and love sharing what I've discovered over the years.
*** Lesson Details *** I'm a very laid back guy but I take my playing seriously. music is my life and there's nothing I enjoy sharing and expressing more. I learned to love playing guitar when I was 12 from the coolest guitar teacher ever. he had a vibe that i gravitated toward and encouraged me in just the right ways to get me believing in myself. I try to encourage my students the same way. music should be fun above all and sculpt my lessons to each students individual needs so that they are better equipped to succeed.
*** Travel Equipment *** I expect them to provide guitar/bass/piano
*** Specialties *** Jazz, Rock, Blues, Classic, Pop
Seemed a little disorganized. It might have been part of the "getting to know me" process and what I wanted to accomplish. The hour went by very fast!

I have taken lessons from Benjamin, and found him to be an excellent teacher. If you are looking for someone to teach you bass, or guitar you can't find a more patient teacher. I would recommend him to anyone seeking lessons.
Beginning students will learn note-reading, right and left hand independence, and basic chords through learning teacher and student-chosen repertoire. Intermediate students will learn to play melody in one hand and harmony in the other as well as more advanced rhythmic and theoretical concepts.

Wonderful first lesson! Allison was patient and kind and by the end of the first hour, my daughter was playing a song I could recognize.

Richard (Rick) M.
Patient, competent and personable. Looking forward to my lessons.

We've only had one lesson with Allison so far. Working with a 4 year old is a special kind of challenge and we had an excellent first experience! I think her judgment of my daughter's skill level was very accurate and her first song choice was spot-on. My daughter needed something that would exercise her skills but be easy enough to restore her confidence and bring the fun back to her lessons. We look forward to continuing lessons with her.
I currently teach beginner to intermediate piano to various ages and skill level, and will tailor the lessons in creative and fun ways to meet your needs!

I'm a vocalist, pianist, and songwriter with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre, and am currently teaching voice and piano to nearly 20 students, of all ages and backgrounds. My versatility, experience and formal training helps me to make the learning experience easy, stress free and fun. I love to gear lessons towards the specific strengths and goals of each student.
While obtaining my Bachelor's degree, I took regular voice lessons from one of the leading vocal pedagogy experts in the world: Mary Saunders Barton. I also studied various aspects of music and performance, such as the art of auditioning, and music theory. I have spent many years performing in professional, regional musical theater productions, and am happy to work on auditions with my students. Curre
ntly, I play gigs regularly in my local area (Philadelphia) and write and record regularly. My songs have been licensed for national/international TV (E!, MTV, PBS, Netflix, and more).
I typically teach my clients either in their own homes (if within 12 miles of me), or online. I can easily accommodate to teach in my own home as well. I have also had background checks completed for the various schools I teach with, and am happy show them to you upon request.
My daughter enjoyed working with Lia. She was patient, fun and helped build my daughter's confidence when she made mistakes and needed to try again. She was an absolute pleasure to work with!

LIa is the right fit for my high school student. My daughter has been taking classic piano lessons since 4 years old. She has been looking for an instructor who will allow her to develop her creative side.
Lia customizes her lessons and has reignited my daughters love of piano.
August 1, 2018
Both of my daughters love to sing. We signed up for lessons so they could learn their favorite pop songs; one of my daughters also took piano. They've learned how to hit notes easier and how to properly warm up; Lia is great at finding fun ways to keep them engaged while also still learning. The combination of piano and voice for my youngest has been really valuable. I highly recommend Lia for your lessons!
"First lesson was great. My son is learning and really enjoyed his time with Allan."
"We have really enjoyed our experience with Adrianne. My daughter works very hard for her and loves going to her lessons. I'm very impressed by the pace at
which my daughter is learning!"
"Dan is a great teacher. He is patient but also catches my mistakes so I can fix them. I'm excited about getting better at piano."
"Stephen was very warm and welcoming. We enjoyed the exoerience"
"Alex is very patient and able to adapt to her students. I studied with her for a year and also got to see other students work with her and she always had
a way of getting each student to accomplish their goals. I think when you look for a teacher, you really are looking for someone to teach you how to learn. So many teachers tell you something or tell you what to do but never help you develop a skillset. Alex is different in that she absolutely focuses on developing a fundamental process so that each student not only learns but knows how to learn. As a result, there is progress I can see immediately, of course, but also years down the road. If you're looking for a teacher seriously, consider someone who will make a lasting impact and will make you a better overall person— not just tell you to do something and move on. Alex is a teacher who, regardless if you pursue music, you will come out better because of her teachings. Highly recommend!"
"Both me and my daughter have been taking piano lessons from Ethan since last 8 months. He is an amazing teacher and has proved beyond doubt, that he can t
each music to a person of any age. He is very adaptable to our specific goals and works alongside, as per our capacity to help us achieve what we intend to. I had no experience with music or piano whatsoever before this and started the lessons to learn a new skill. Over the months, I have not only developed interest in piano but also been able to play with confidence. I had experience with couple of more teachers before we got him, and he is certainly the best. Would highly recommend him."
"Alex is a very polite and patient instructor. She adjusts the lesson to the child's skills and pace. I have three sons who take lessons with her and it is
important that each one is assigned songs according to their skill level and music preferences. Thanks Alex!"
"She is very patient! She wants you to learn. She works with you. She does what she is supposed to do! It makes it easy for me!"
"As an adult, time to practice is a luxury. I really like that the practice pieces are music that I like and are challenging enough for me to enjoy the tim
e spent. Also, he takes time to answer my questions thoroughly, so that I actually feel like I am learning. He is patient and isn't hard on me when I make mistakes. I have started lessons a couple of times, without success. I believe Edward, by far has the best technique and teaching style, for me to enjoy this learning experience."
